deeply disappointed with Parlor on the Avenue. Not only did my gel manicure fail to stick, but the customer service was insulting.When I called to address the issue, they refused to find a rescheduling time that was convenient for me. Instead, they flipped the blame and made me feel like an inconvenience because I couldn't rearrange my life for their limited openings. I was promised callbacks that never happened. After calling four times just to reach the General Manager, I demanded a refund and refused a gift card because I will never step foot in this salon again. The GM finally refunded my money but claimed I was disrespectful to the staff. Tracking down a business that ignores its own promises is not disrespect. I got the Victorian package a month or two ago and I was very disappointed. This was supposed to be an hour and a half of pampering which was actually only about an hour. The wax was way different, but really left my feet soft. There was very little massage. So basically I feel like I was mislead by the description of the pedicure. But I always give a business a chance. I wasn't disappointed. It's a darling spa in downtown Harrison! I liked that their nail salon was tucked in the back. The lady doing my daughter's manicure and my pedicure was very cold towards us and made the experience very uncomfortable.

Unsuccessfully tried to come to a satisfactory resolution with the stylist, Sue, who is also the owner about the quality of the customer service and the "trim" my daughter received. Sue claims she only took off 2-3". Try 9" that was taken off. Please check out the before and after! The quality speaks for itself. Do not go here! I used to live in Harrison and the Parlour was always a nice place to go get your hair, nails, etc done. That is sadly not the case anymore and I had to learn the hard way. I hadn't had my hair touched in 3 years and was so looking forward to a nice change before the holidays. I left with an uneven and choppy cut and the ugliest yellow stripes on my head - some tears may or may not have been shed. It was very disappointing paying nearly $200 (I tipped well bc regardless these are hard times) to feel bad about myself. Go literally anywhere else. read more

Recently had a pedicure. People at front counter left me standing around. Had to wait 15 past scheduled appointment time. Girl doing pedi had the personality of a rock. Was disappointed in service, but my nails turned out nice. Whole thing took 30 min. It was not relaxing in the slightest and actually made me feel uncomfortable. Have had other places adjust chair, offer a beverage, give a really good massage, put you at drying table when done. None of this at the parlour. Not even a SMILE. read more

I am very particular about my hair color and cut and recently stopped going to my old hair stylist (after 6 yrs) because she was too far from my home.. My hair is naturally wavy and can be frizzy on a humid day -- so cut is critical to making my hair lay great. I am also a stay at home mom with a traveling husband -- so my schedule changes daily. I was able to call and book a same day partial highlight/cut/style with Erika. She absolutely blew me away with her perfect highlight (blonde), her thoroughness when cutting my hair to make sure she took off the appropriate length, and the cut. I have received dozens of compliments and cannot stop looking at my hair in the mirror. I wish I would have started going to her sooner. She is amazing. I asked for blonde highlights and got bright orange blotchy hair. Asked the owner who did my hair if she could please fix it. She told me she would charge me the whole amount AGAIN to fix it. She said my other option would be to wait for it to grow out, and that the orange blotches would eventually fade. Or I could go BUY a purple shampoo to help reduce the orange. Why would I want to buy another shampoo to try to fix something that shampoo cannot fix??? I received a survey of how likely I would be to recommend and I was honest that I would NEVER recommend this place and wrote of my experience. Immediately after taking the survey from the salon I received a nasty email from the owner. I will be taking my business and my money elsewhere. read more

This salon has the worst customer service. I don't care if I get a good service, if customer service is bad, I will never go back nor recommend to anyone. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. Maybe that's why they aren't very busy. It takes common sense, that's it. When you advertise for a service to be a certain amount of time, you better give that client the specified amount of time. Paid 46$ for a 45 min pedi, although with other girls it was an hour, doesn't make sense but whatever, started on the hr and she got done at 27 after! 27 min pedi, I left over 20% tip, which I really shouldn't have. But I believe in karma. I believe reviews are a great way to spread the word. The tech did not even introduce herself, didn't say a single word to me, said she was done a walked away. Oh and she smoked right before I got there, that's why she didn't pick me up, someone else did. I called the next day bc it bothered me that I paid for a 45 min service and didn't get that. Of course the "manager" wasn't in and would call me the next day. Oh and the girl that did my pedi, was the spa manager! What a joke. Terrible. So, never received a call back, I will be contacting my bank to dispute my charges completely. Quite possibly the worst salon I have ever been to. I came here about three months ago for a hair cut and ombre dye. Not only did I have to wait 45 minutes after getting there when I had an appointment but the stylist absolutely ruined my hair. I had orange streaks throughout my hair and the cut was crooked. They were not honest about pricing either. I contacted the manager and after two days of not returning my calls she finally answered and was extremely rude on the phone, refused to refund me or do anything about the problem. Complete waste of 180$. I would never recommend then to anyone. read more

After buying a Groupon for a Vichy shower treatment i was excited to be able to use it. Until I got there, the staff is slow, and I mean really slow. I arrived about 15 minutes before my service, and did not get picked up until 20 min after my service was to begin. I put my clothes in a locker and tried locking it but the lock was broken, so at any moment, anyone could get into my locker and take my belongings. The Vichy treatment, was okay, nothing out of the ordinary, or to be remembered, heck my grandma could probably do the same job. After paying, yes paying, because apparently the Groupon did not cover about $10 of the service specified on the Groupon, plus tax/tip - I left. After leaving I found out that the person who had done the treatment is not even licensed. She is only a Manicurist, and not even licensed to do this! The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the chocolate covered pretzel after was the best part of the experience. read more

I used to go to this salon when I was younger (Jr. High age). Once I became responsible for paying for my own haircuts I started going to places like Great Clips or salon schools. But, once I graduated college and got a job I now am more willing to spend a little more on a quality haircut from such a great place! The building was smaller when I went as a kid, but they've expanded since then and have the upstairs set up with massage tables and a wet spa. The building is located in historical Downtown Harrison. It's such a great building, it's old, but fantastically kept up/restored. They offer you coffee/water/tea when you come in, while you wait. They have wine glasses there...I don't know if they will give you wine or if they are for water but it's very nice/up-scale feeling. They sell the standard beauty products in their lobby but they also carry some local jewelry and things like that. Everyone is very nice and warm, and I've liked every stylist that I've encountered there. I've recently started going back for my haircuts and I recently got a Swedish Body Massage as well. The up-scale feel of the salon, combined with the great ambiance created by the building itself and the staff is so great. Their prices are more than a place likened to GreatClips/Fiesta/etc...but it's very, very worth it to pamper yourself a little every once in a while. I love this place! The salon is nice and open, and in an older (read not boring) building. The staff is super friendly, and it's easy to get in for an appointment. I love that you can book an appointment online, too! Also, parking is plentiful and easy on the street, or there is a public/free lot across from the salon. I have had lots of things done here-a massage (so relaxing!) mani-pedi's (the best place I've gone for a pedi) and of course hair cuts and color. My daughter has also gone here for cuts (where Monica sprinkled "fairy dust" in her hair and thus cementing her as awesome in my daughter's mind) and she also got a feather back when kids were into that. Monica has given me really great highlights, and she's so speedy! I just went on Saturday and Kelsey did my hair. It looks amazing! She did a great job on my highlights, and took her time and did a great job on the cut. She also gave me the best blowout-I can't stop touching my hair, which is totally making my blow out a mess, but I can't help myself. :) read more

They don't know how to do anything other than merchandise a cool building and maybe a trim. The experience and knowledge of the staff in regards to color is bad.. I went from light brown to slim shady yellow and I was told it wasn't possible to get my hair to the platinum blonde I desired. Just returned from having my hair cut and styled here for the first time. I was immediately and kindly greeted by the receptionist when I walked in. Grace, my stylist, came right out from the other room to get me. The shampoo was so relaxing and the products still smell wonderful. Grace cut my hair perfectly. I wanted more volume on top so she suggested adding layers. I'm so happy with the cut and the way she styled my hair. Grace gave me a tour of the rooms including the upstairs. The architecture and decorating is so beautiful. I wish I had more time; I would have booked another service so I could stay longer. In the reception area, they have a vast selection of various products: hair, facial, nail, jewelry and clothing. I bought a hair product and a nail polish on the way out. Grace is so sweet and funny. I enjoyed sharing laughs together. I am here this week on business and when I return I will getting my hair cut here and will be checking out their other services too.
