Official 'holes' are setup with relatively good course markings. Arguably the first few holes are the best as they run along the beach and include nice grassy fairways surrounded by trees on either side. Once you get to the back 9 you end up with more 'field holes' where there is no distinct shape to the fairway. A few of the holes are in heavily wooded areas so bring a spare disk or be prepared to hunt.

Now I already know I'll be back, because we only explored part of it -- but what my sister, her pup, and I wandered through was fun, peaceful, and a little adventurous. At one point there was literally a giant mallard just standing in the middle of the woods like he owned the place. And then there were stairs that climb straight up the side of the mountain -- okay, hill -- but it felt like a mountain in the best way. The whole walk made me feel free. If you ever find yourself wanting a moment outside, a breath of fresh air, or just a place to wander, stop here. It's worth it.

I enjoy walking in the park, taking pictures of nature. There's a pavilion with picnic tables, there's a tiny little playground for the little ones. There's also a little creek/river with a bridge that connects into a housing neighborhood area. The park is right next to train tracks, so to get to the walking area and the main part of the park you would have to go across the train tracks. A nice quiet place to go to enjoy nature (depending on time of day), if you're quiet enough you might spot some deer and any other wild animal. The other day I saw some pretty spring flowers!

We immediately went to the park, and my kids had an absolute blast. They're 3 and 1, but I saw plenty of older kids having fun as well. We checked out the lake, which was super pretty (watch out for goose poop!). I noticed some people fishing, and it looked like there were canoes around too! We then decided to have some lunch. There are plenty of picnic tables, so finding a spot to sit is not a problem. We ended the visit with one more trip to the park and then left. My kids were EXHAUSTED afterward, and I always appreciate a place that can tire them out. I'd like to visit again on a solo trip and walk a few miles around the lake next time!

It's one of my favorite local nature reserves. There are always a lot of groups in this area enjoying picnic tables and pavilion. The picnic area itself is well-kept and welcoming, with plenty of space to relax, enjoy a meal, or simply sit and take in nature. The meadow at the entrance has 2 convenient tables. The pavilion nestled more in the park has many picnic tables, grill, and fire place. It accommodates large parties. I have seen a lot of big groups have different holiday celebrations or just gather on a sunny day. What I enjoy the most is the space between picnic tables and inside the pavilion to offer privacy to various groups and a space to roam. The reservation also has a lot of great trails. They're far enough from the road to offer a serene experience. As I walked along the quiet paths and took in the scenic views around Strawberry Pond, I felt an immediate sense of calm. The sounds of birds calling and leaves rustling in the breeze added to the tranquil atmosphere. The bathrooms are conveniently available at the entrance. They are a little gross but available. The parking lot is pretty spacious. The picnic area is very easy to find, just follow the signage or your GPS. Whether you're walking the nearby trails or just lounging with family or friends, this place feels like a hidden gem. Overall, my time at Strawberry Picnic Area reminded me of the importance of reconnecting with nature and making space for simple, quiet moments. It's a place I'd return to in any season. Where to start... Growing up in NE Ohio we were lucky to have the Metroparks. I didnt realize how…read morelucky until traveling more, a lot of places dont have a place so accessible to them. Middle school we would ride our bikes there at 7-8am. Ride around there all day. Catching river roaches, toads, fishing, swimming. There was a rope we would swing off of into the murky, foamy water. What doesnt kill you.. and whatever else we conjured up to cause chaos that day. High school, it served a different purpose. Valley cruises whenever possible. Nowadays I just walk the trails and reminisce. In closing, I absolutely love this place and am very grateful we have this gorgeous slice of heaven in our backyards.
