Right off Parmer you can find a good, cheap place to sit down and grab a beer, play cards, or even some slots. Parmer Lane Tavern is a solid bar boasting cheap drink specials including $3 beers and shots on Tuesdays. It's very accessible since it's just off Parmer and there's plenty of parking out front. It was clean and the service is friendly which for some bars is a premium. One thing that stands out is there's more to do than most bars here in terms of activities. As mentioned before, there's a poker table and slot machines but they also have darts and pool as well. Definitely a spot you can kill a few hours at without realizing. They also have a good amount of TVs so catching a game here doesn't seem like it should be much of an issue. Between that and the cheap drinks there is more than enough entertainment to go around. One thing to be aware of is that they don't have beer on tap (bottles only) and they don't have any food to serve. They did mention you can bring in outside food or order it to the bar but just being able to order something small can be nice sometimes. Look, Parmer Lane Tavern isn't a Domain bar, and that's okay. It's a good, friendly, and very cheap neighborhood bar that is more suited for a casual weekday night or game day. If you want a bar with a more local or down to earth feel then this is definitely the spot for you. read more

Wow, I bartend, asked for a double vodka got a two and a half second pour, I know how to count..clearly, scratched the bottle off in front me me because it was empty after two counts ( a single is 4 slow, or 6 fast, a double is 8 to 12 depending ) and filled the GLASS with sprite. I asked and they clarified it's a double. WTF whatever. I walked away. Showed, and let my friends see the drink, it was not even a single they couldn't even guess the alcohol, they guessed G&T. So I put it too the side very upset, returned it too the blonde girl. Then as we're leaving they made fun of my friend, who's drink was on point (which I did carry him out). I'm very sober. As we're ALMOST at the door, the blonde girl goes "yeah, that's why we didn't give him a real double". I never yelp bad, ever, I'm in the service industry and I'm blue fire, upset. Like courtesy????? So I walk back to the bar (never left) to close out our tab and they charged me a double, that I never drank, too the bartender that I gave it back too on the patio, as she rolls her eyes, and say I'm not paying for this!!!???? There are pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, a dance floor, a jukebox, a DJ booth, televisions, arcade trivia...basically a mish mash of everything you need to make a bar a bar. It's decorated with vinyl beer signs supporting the Longhorns and Cowboys, and the carpet looks like it came with the building when it was built many years ago. It's kept very, very dark inside, and I won't act like there haven't been a few occasions when I walked outside and realized I was too inebriated for it to still be this light out. They have $1 jello shots and $3 frozen margaritas that are surprisingly strong. There's usually a pretty eccentric mix of people too, which is what makes it so fun. I lived down the street from here, and it will be my last. In the two years of visiting here, I have not been treated so horrible. Apparently tank tops aren't allowed. I've worn the same shirt in there multiple times, and wasn't treated like that at all. I came in on 6:00on a Tuesday. There is a proper way in telling someone that your refusing service. A simple "I'm sorry, but your wearing a tank top, for whatever reason we have a strict dress code. Please come back with a shirt that has sleeves, and I'll be able to serve you." Unfortunately this particular barehand is more into unprofessional mannerisms. I will never step foot in this bar again. A friend of mine called the bar to ask if they could maybe put a few tables together with a reserved sign for a large group. They did and we had a good evening. A couple months later she called again and was told "You people need to drink more alcohol". Really? It's a surprisingly large, dark, dank bar filled with neighborhood folks who've probably lived here for years. They have beers and liquor and both selections are pretty basic/standard stuff. There's a shuffleboard table (they really, really need a second one), a jukebox, pool tables, big TVs. The drinks are pretty moderately priced. Seems like a very "Cheers"-like establishment... wouldn't doubt that 95% of the clientele are regulars. Not a bad place to be, but not usually not my first choice.
