UPDATE: After 3 years of fighting Parnell Pool & Spa to do the right thing due to their GROSS NEGLIGENCE while constructing an in-ground swimming pool on my Property, Cumberland County, NC Small Claims Court finally issued a Judgment against them in order to make them pay to restore my Property back to it's original condition. This has been a long fought battle which I do not wish upon anyone just trying to enhance their property for their Family's enjoyment. I would never do business again with this establishment or recommend them to anyone. PREVIOUSLY: Result of the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors Investigation of Parnell Pool & Spa. We had a problem with our in ground pool leaking water. I called Parnell and spoke to a young man who helped me diagnose the problem over the phone. I went that same day and picked up the part that I needed that was right at 250.00. I requested a technician to come out to put it on the pump for us. They set it up for 9:00 AM the next day. The tech showed up on time, looked at the pump and told me I didn't need the entire pump head, but just the top dial that was only116.00. He had one on the truck, and put it on in no time. ALERT! DO NO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! POOR TREATMENT OF VETERANS! Beware of Parnell Pool & Spa's gross negligence and beyond horrendous customer service. Because of poor planning and execution on Parnell Pool & Spa's part of a placement of a pool, an issue was identified on June 9, 2015 and a Stop-Work order was placed on June 23, 2015. Parnell Pool & Spa then proceeded to ABANDON the project and have since REFUSED to either fix the problem or reimburse the hard-earned money that was already spent. A formal complaint has been filed with the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors and they have opened an investigation into their questionable business practices. This is coming after my second interaction with Parnell. The first was when my pool turned green and I couldn't figure out what the issue was. They did a water test and then said it had to be a chlorine lock and that test came back as needing 29 gallons of liquid chlorine or 33 lbs of shock. I thought that sounded high and sought a second and third opinion, the other places said no and to do a green pool treatment. It took 48 hours and I had and still have 5 months later a clear blue pool. The second time is when I was struggling to get an electrician out that is familiar with pool pump timers. I have a special timer for pools and not just a regular timer. They gave me the number of a guy they use for their work and he is either incompetent or shady. He said my pump was broken, not the timer, and to call Parnell back and get a whole new one installed. My pool guy came out and saw they connected the timer completely wrong and my pump is perfectly fine. It's been running normally since that "diagnosis." I had a liner replaced by Parnell pool & Spa, pool Started leaking around the main Drain, I called Parnell pool in Fayetteville NC and was told I had to Call Lumberton Store. Called Lumberton and they inspected pool and stated that the warranty only covered seam separation. I purchased the liner at Parnell pool in Fayetteville NC and was told the liner had a 10 year warranty. They did not tell me That their POOR workmanship was not covered under the warranty. Parnell Pool and Spa installed our pool about 10 years ago. As of today the pool and system are still running great. I still have the original liner and pump. Parnell installed the pool and handled all plumbing, electrical, and concrete parts of this project. I paid half up front and then payments as construction progressed. I have continued to use Parnell through the years for chemicals and have been happy with the service I have received. read more

We have recently purchased a hot tub from Parnell Pool & Spa after several months of research and shopping around . Parnell was the one for us. Mickey spent a lot of time with us explaining all the features and the operation of the system. Any time I have a question he is always very helpful. The team at the store is always helpful getting the water balanced correctly and Robin who I worked with on the delivery and any follow up Maintance has been awesome to deal with. we are very please with our system and the support that we receive from Parnell. read more

Do not use this company! They promise one thing and do not live up to it. Not only did they quote one price to try to get my business and tell me another price the day that we went to sign a contract. A thousand dollar increase. They also told me that they would install the pool on the 21st and 22nd of April 2014. Then they told me that they would install on the 23rd and 24the of April. Which did not happen! When I spoke to owner he basically stated that this was a big fat lie. So owner is aware of his employees lying and promising things that they can't complete. I promised my children a pool on or before spring break and I got neither. Which this company said they could do. I use to buy my previous pool chemical from this company. I will never give this company any money again. I should have never trusted this company after reading previous reviews. But I thought I would give them a chance. I was wrong, stay away. read more

I wrote a review on my experience with this company a couple of weeks ago; my opinion/feelings on the experience has not changed. I feel the need to add to my review...The evening after my first review, one of the installation crew members felt it necessary to wave at my mother (she lives behind me and was watching the lack of production from her home, per my request) and pull his penis out and urinate where the pool was being installed. Apparently that's funny to "grown" men. When the owner, Cathy, was contacted about this incident, she gave her typical response of "I understand, I don't know what to say." The installation crew was at my house for 4 hours and somehow managed to get nothing done. The owner's excuse for the behavior is that they only hire the contractor and he hires who he wants, "...but they build a really good pool"; they're behavior and lack of professionalism still reflects poorly on your company since they are doing the work for you. The pool was finally installed and we have enjoyed it, but the extremely unpleasant and unprofessional manner in which everything was done, was not worth my time. If I could do it over again, I would go with another company. A couple of days ago, my husband received a call from the manager and he asked my husband to have me remove the post/review I did on Facebook. That review is the same exact review as my original one on here. I will not remove any review I have done of this company and find it funny that they are asking me to remove something that is meant for the public to read regarding my experience with them. Our experience with Parnell Pool and Spa has been a total disaster. In fact, it has been one of the worst we have ever had with any company. After paying for a pool liner in mid February of 2013, we were informed that we would be called to be scheduled for services. After 3 weeks, no one ever called. I called the company 3 times before receiving a call back. Finally, contact was made and an appointment was made to install new pool liner. Pool liner was installed with no problem it seemed. We had also paid for a foam wall replacement. The installation crewman told me that our foam wall did not need replaced, therefore, he would make sure that a refund would be issued. This did not happen until approximately 2 weeks ago. It is now July 1st. and again, it took approximately 4-5 phone calls to get our refund back. About 3-4 days after installation of pool liner took place, I noticed that the crew never returned back to fill in a hole they had dug alongside the pool. Several calls later, I was reassured that someone would be back to fill in the hole. This never happened, no one came. I filled in the hole myself. Forward to late May, the pool liner that was installed, is now detaching from the pool wall. Also, our pool has buckled where the crew had dug a hole. Several phone calls later, an installation specialist came and took pictures. He reassured me that something needed to be done. I was relieved, especially after all the effort it had taken to get someone to listen to me. Last week, the manager called me on Monday to reassure me that he had not forgotten about our dilemma. He also promised to call later on that week after having someone else look at the pictures. He never called back. Last night, spouse came home. We called the company separately. He never received a call back. I received my call back by the manager only to be told that it had been our job to fill the hole back in. If this is so, then why was I never told this and why was I promised that someone would come fill the hole back in. I was also told that our wall was already buckled in when the job took place. This is totally untrue. I was also accused of not being home during the repair. This is also untrue, I was present throughout the repair. I gave the phone to my spouse who continued to have the same pointless conversation with the manager. Bottom line, manager stated that they were not going to repair damages, nor were they going to offer a refund. I regret not having read the reviews for this company on another website. $1500 dollars will now cost us double that, maybe more, in addition to the tons of inconvenience that has been incurred in dealing with this company. read more
