I called these guys for a dental emergency, and was told over the phone they weren't in-network for…read moremy insurance, but they'd process the claims for my provider, I'd just have to potentially pay the higher "out of network" cost. However, once I got there, filled out all the paperwork, sat in the chair, got an X-ray, and confirmed the issue... they sent in the billing person, who told me that I'd have to pay completely out of pocket for the procedure because "they haven't had good luck getting Guardian to pay claims." In my limited exposure to the dentist and the assistant, they seemed very empathetic and wanted to help... I actually thought I'd found my regular dentist. I'm sure they are great at what they do. But, do NOT come here if you hope to use your dental insurance. They will not even try to make a claim against it, even in an emergency situation in which you are in significant pain.

This time when I went there the dentist came into the room for about 1 minute and said that I had to follow the $24,000.00 treatment plan no other options were given to me. I left there in more pain than when I got there from their cleaning. Then got a bill for over $500 because they did a bunch of X-rays that I didn't ask for just to say it's the same treatment plan as last time. If I could I would give them a negative star rating as in my opinion they don't deserve even a single star.

I have to keep calling my insurance to check if the claims were even filed, and it seems they were only filed recently on 6/8/25! We're talking about claims dating back to 09/24 up until now. They want to send me collection calls without having properly billed my insurance first. It feels like they're trying to backtrack, and they didn't do a pre-determination of benefits to inform me about my out-of-pocket expenses--how is that fair? Instead, they bill me for everything and send me to collections before going through my insurance for payment. It looks like they want to get paid twice! The receptionist is incredibly rude and seems incompetent. Instead of being professional, she argued with me and told me, frankly to my face, that if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere! Well, I will do just that, but I'll also warn future clients about the issues I've faced and how nothing is being done to fix them. It's clear they don't care about their customers, charging for services that may not be covered, and calling me for payments on bills that haven't even been sent to my insurance. I had an issue with my bite being out of alignment & was referred by my co-workers. The treatment plan they suggested was to pull ALL of my front teeth - at the SAME time, and the cost was $50k. I have very healthy, straight teeth. I thank GOD I got a second opinion. My problem was corrected with a few adjustments to the surface of my back teeth. I hope this didn't happen to anyone else.

I called a couple places that had been recommended to me...they all seemed frustrated with my questions. Then, I called DownEast Smile Company and inquired about them accepting new patients. Not only were they accepting new patients, but Cheyenne was very accommodating and helped me verify my insurance was accepted. To add the cherry on top, I was able to schedule an appointment the next day! Not even kidding! Fast-forward to yesterday, I had my teeth cleaned by a super thorough and friendly hygienist named, Jenni. It also should be noted that they have a lot of technology that MAKES the patient experience... From massaging dental chairs to portable x-ray machines to 3-D images of your teeth. High five! I was also able to see Dr. Merandi yesterday, And let me tell you... I felt like I had been her patient for years and immediately trusted she had my well-being in mind. Dr. Merandi, Cheyenne, and Jenni all provided an elevated patient experience. The building is GORGEOUS. The rooms are COMFY. The hours are CONVENIENT. The atmosphere is WELCOMING. The care is PHENOMENAL. I truly feel it would be hard-pressed to find this level of service anywhere else in Cartersville!
