One of the best things to do in Lisbon. Make a reservation a few weeks in advance. The show and food are amazing. I was afraid it might feel touristy, but not at all. For food, the waitress said the beef was their best entree, and that was spot on. Garlic shrimp app was great, too. It is cash only $65 per person not including drinks. We had an 8:00 reservation which was good, but maybe a tad early. The first act started around 9:15, second around 10:00, and final act about 10:30. The show ended around 11-11:15. But don't leave early, the last act was the best part. The space is very small and intimate. Amazing date night. So fun. read more

A fantastic Fado experience - prepare about 2.5-3 hours for dinner and the music. A simple menu to choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert from I enjoyed the selections and the music performed through the night. They did a great job having music played in between courses to minimize dishes clanking around and to really emphasize the focus on the music. The performers were brilliant and service was great. I would certainly visit this spot again in the future for a Fado dinner. read more

We booked the spot because it's the oldest fado in Lisbon. The spot is very cute, but it also felt a little cramped with all the seating. The toilet was the tiniest toilet ever which I know is probably just due to it being an old building. We loved the Alhama district in general and I really wish we had spent more time, exploring that area before dinner. What I didn't see in the other reviews mentioned was that we were right on time when the ticket said that it would start, but it didn't start until all the guest arrived. The guest arrived an hour to an hour and a half after we arrived so we had already gotten through the majority of dinner before it started, and the whole experience was super long. We were very tired and ready to leave by the time it was over. While the singing is in Portuguese, the performers say a little bit in English as well about what it's about however, the song that they ended with seemed to be some sort of comedic song that only people that spoke Portuguese understood. I love the idea of a photo dinner, although I'm not sure that this is the spot that I would recommend, the dinner was pretty good and I love I tried there, but the whole experience was just not really worth the full-time. read more

This place was amazing. 84 years of history and tradition are preserved in their walls and held up every night. The performers were incredible, the food was delicious and the servers were friendly and helpful - a glass of wine got knocked over and within seconds they were there with extra towels and stain remover. The owner & host, Bruno, was very friendly and an amazing guitar player. He was joined by a Fado guitar player with serious chops and they performed 3 sets, each about 20 min and accompanied by a different singer each time. read more

I think this place is completely overrated. It's one of the oldest Fado places in the city, but for the price you pay, I don't think it's worth it. The entertainment isn't that good, the food is mediocre, and it took our waitress a long time to refill our drinks even the water. We sat through a whole set, completely parched and not able to swallow the food down so then the food got cold. It doesn't look cute at all from the outside but once you go inside, it's a little cuter, but it is so small, you have barely any space, You're sitting right on top of the next person it it feels like. I do a lot of social media too and they wouldn't let you take photos or videos, but I still snuck a few in. We went in at 8 PM and they did about 3 to 4 sets. It's all of course in Portuguese, which we expected, but there was one set I wish I really understood because everyone who could understand Portuguese was laughing a lot, so I felt like it was a funny set but I didn't understand it. I know a little but not that well. There is honestly another place that we randomly went into the night before that's not even a legit Fado place, but they were still doing Fado that had better service, better food, and better entertainment. Plus it was cheaper.... My advice is to check out the Fado elsewhere. read more

This was such a magical night for me. My partner and I heard great ratings, and wanted to go to a live fado concert, so we went. It was in a very walkable area in the middle of the neighborhood, so it's an ideal spot for dinner and do some touring in the Alfama district. Also you have to appreciate the small streets! The service was great. Sure, it was tight space but the ambience was great and really allows for the live music to carry through the entire dining area. Of course, the show was wonderful. There were three singers, each did their own solo and then everyone, including the musicians (playing instruments) chimed in for the final act. It was an amazing experience, and oh my gosh the FOOD! I had the most amazing octopus at this restaurant as my main course. Every thing that we ate was simply delicious. I loved the garlic shrimp as well. I cannot rave about this place enough. read more

FYI - The oldest fado house in all of Lisbon. Our hotel suggested this place and got us a reservation after we couldn't get into Tasca do Chico the night before. Great place to come, kick back and have a quiet meal while listening to some Fado music, albeit pricier than the others, IMO. Now, when I say "quiet meal", I really mean it (see pic). At a certain point, one of the patrons was chastised during the performance because she was talking to someone in their party while the singing was going on. Please note they also don't allow flash photography and they turn off the lights during the show. In general, the food was a solid 4/5. We enjoyed the fresh sardine appetizer and the garlicky oil went well with the bread. For entrees, I decided to be a little adventurous and tried something with dried codfish since it's such a local food in Portugal. Parreirinha has their very own version of this dried cod mixed with corn bread, cabbage and eggs served in a large crock. It's a little heavy on the olive oil but it was quite delish and received an A in originality. The roasted kid dinner also received great marks for being nicely seasoned and cooked well. Overall, it's the perfect place to be if you want a mellow ambiance for Fado music. We noticed more mature patrons here whereas the original place we wanted to go to is more casual, loud and popular with younger people. Tip: If you're a visual person and you like to look at your food while you're eating, you should plan to come earlier around 8pm and then linger around with drinks at 9pm when the fado starts. read more

Absolutely spectacular show. The guitars and the singers transport you to a magical place and the ambience in the restaurant is beautiful with low lights and complete silence as the perform. Dinner was good, with good options. Helpful information: water for the table has a charge (I believe is €2 per bottle), is better to have a reservation, specially for the Fado (dinner show). Loved this place! The performances were amazing and the hospitality was great. My only wish is that my meal was more filling. I ordered prawns and they were a bit on the skimpy side. My husband got the cod and liked it but mentioned that it was a bit dry. We are definitely planning to go back one day! This meal was during our honeymoon last year in July. read more

A perfectly lovely evening, until they closed out with racist impersonations... The food was mostly just okay (except the dessert, which was fabulous), and the prices were very high, but we were okay with that because we wanted to experience good fado and believe artists should be compensated well for their work. The performances started out very well--one of the guitar players gave a short summary of the history of the establishment and of the etiquette of fado, and asked the audience to respect an important Portuguese tradition. And then three different singers performed, and we were sucked into a beautiful tradition. We were jetlagged on the first night of our honeymoon, but we were transported and it was very romantic. Until, that is, the last number, which was ad-libbed. The lead guitar player (who, until that point, I adored because he was so good) jumped into increasingly over-the-top caricatures, crescendo-ing with an incredibly racist portrayal of "Chinese" singing. Every Asian kid knows this impersonation--"ching chang chong." And then one of the singers responded with "arigatou," and everyone laughed some more. I was immediately transported from my lovely (and, again, quite expensive) honeymoon meal to my middle school cafeteria, with my peers making fun of my lunch and my ethnicity in general. It ruined a lovely evening. And then the waitress brought our check, north of 100 euros. I give this place two stars because the waitstaff was lovely and the food was just as expected. But if the singers want us to respect their tradition, they should respect their diverse audience of tourists from all different backgrounds instead of doing racist impersonations of them. read more
