I have been coming here for years. Even when I moved away, I would make the special trip back to…read moreget my shoes resoled here. It is a tiny unassuming shop in the backstreets of Chelsea. The attention to detail is second to none. My shoes always come back looking better than when I drop them off, because they not only do a wonderful job with the resoling, but will also make good nicks in the heel shaft of high heels. The prices are comparable to elsewhere, but the sole and heel repairs are beautifully done and last longer than when I have them done elsewhere. Seriously. I have also had heels on a pair of boots totally replaced by them. It is the only cobblers that I recommend. For the skeptics out there, I trust only them with my good (Louboutins, Choos, Manolos), as well as my not so good, shoes. They also have the red rubber soles that match Louboutins. The average repair takes about 4 days, which seems a lifetime in this day and age, but they can do it more quickly at special request. The staff have not changed in years and whilst they are not the friendliest bunch, and opening hours are near on archaic, this is a small scale local business that does what it does really well.

First things first George shoe repairs do a good job and though they are not cheap it would be…read moreworth paying but for their terrible attitude. (1) took two months to complete a repair. (2) They did not issue a ticket for the repair and then of course did not contact about how the repair was progressing. (3) I called and was told after two months: 'I havent done it' . (4) When I finally went to collect - George demanded a ticket, I explained he hadn't given me one for this job. He was aggressive and blamed me for not bringing a ticket I had never received after he had told me previously he would: 'text me which was better'. (5) He had told me the job was £20 when I got out my card to pay, he said aggresively " £20 was cash only - with a card it is £30". ( A £10 surcharge to pay with a card)? He then told me I had a bad attitude and to get out of his shop. I was stunned and just wanted to get my boots back. I went and found a friend who worked down the road to accompany me to the shop after I had visited an ATM and got cash. I did not feel safe going back on my own. All in all this was unnecessary and quite crazy. I don't think George shoe repairs is worth the bullying and abuse - however good their work is -nothing is worth being abused. His attitude is a load of cobblers!

I'll say it's a fair/standard price, not a rip off, but not cheap either. They "brush" your boot clean as a service, but they do not "polish" it. There's a difference. If you want your boot "polished" eg. creams etc., it'll be £15 extra. The "While-U-Wait" might be for keys or something small, because when I asked if I could wait for my boots, they said they were busy and wouldn't be ready till closing time that day. I thought that was okay, at least it was ready same day. My boots looks clean and the replacement heels looks like a good job. *Credit card charge is £10 minumum
