I found this shop 15 years ago via Time-Out's recommendation, and have been going there for shoe repair ever since. Over the year I have brought them a lot of designer shoes' to be re-soled/ heeled, and they have always done a good job. Well Heeled is a multi faceted shop that is located on Bethnal Green Rd. The shop provides such services as shoe repairs, key cutting, engraving and more. My only experience with this shop, was when I needed to get a hip flask engraved for a 21st birthday present. The only problem was, that there is not always an engraving person on site, and they said that it wouldn't be ready for at least a few days, which was a few days late in my case. I guess it was partly my fault though, and the staff were really nice about it. I guess if you want to get some engraving done here, you are best of finding out how long it will take first. All the other services that they provide, such as key cutting, are quite efficient. read more

I called into Well Heeled with a broken leather seat cover after being turned away by various other leather shops. The man who dealt with me was very helpful and gave me a quote of £20 to repair. When I returned to pick up the item I was informed that they were able to fix the seat with a machine and not by hand, and therefore it was only going to cost £10. This was incredibly honest of them. Need your heels fixed in one hour for around £5, after getting caught in a surprise attack of London downpour? YES!? Well then stop by Well Heeled for a speedy tune up. I have also had keys copied here. The first time I got all four keys copied, I was quoted at £12 by the dad. Then, whadcha know, I lose the keys a second time and need to a get another set made. I was quoted at £12.90. While I am aware that this is a nitpicky 0.90p difference, when I pointed this out to the father / son (?) duo, they were steadfast in their price. shop worker (cute, pre-grown up man with pretty eyes and braces): "do ya have a receipt?" (for keys copied over a month ago!). me: "No, im not that tidy, but it was £12" shop bloke: "well, £12.90 is the price" hmph. customer service satisfaction: no. not quite. but the keys work, and my heels are still functional. and thats the end of the story, folks. EDITED: WAIT, THE KEY to my front door doesn't even work (changed to three starts, boys and girls)!! Perhaps when I go back i'll get my £££ back and up the star count again. yelps! read more

R U N A W A Y !!! They are amateurs. Went there a year ago. Turned out the key they cut had the wrong shape. Tried another time thinking anyone can make mistakes. Even worse than what I thought. Had to come back 3 times: wrong key size and wrong cutting. In the end, ended up going to their neighbour... and worked! Apparently they are good for shoe repair though... read more

In my 28 years I have never come across a better shoe repairers!!! The time spent and attention to detail was second to none... I took 2 pairs of shoes that were badly damaged- First was a pair of New Zealand sheepskin boots that had ripped right up the back, and I swear after Well Heeled was finished with them you would not be able to tell!! (my mum had the same boots, that ripped in the same place, and hers were massacred by a different shoe repairer!!) The second were a very damaged pair of heels- ripped up the heel and everything... Well now they look brand new! Friendly service and incredible turn around, I needed them to go on holiday and they not only got in done in time, but really cared about the end product. Mum has now brought her shoes she needed reheeled up to London for me to drop around, so I suppose we'll be seeing you again soon!! Thanks a bunch guys :) read more

Really disappointing. After reading the other reviews I decided to check these guys out. Very quick service but unfortunately the shoe I had rehealed came off within a couple of hours of wearing it. So I went back to try and get it redone but they insisted it was all my fault and were incredibly rude and unapologetic. Never going back again! read more

My heel fell off and I was late for a meeting, they banged some nails in as fast as they could and warned me that it would get me there but would not be reliable. and refused to take any money - 2 years later and the heel's still on. Last year, a buckle came off a shoe, no replacement to be found anywhere and I was devastated as I loved the shoes. They suggested I bought the cheapest pair of kids' shoes I could find with buckles on and they'd cut them off and put them onto my shoes - result! Today, I put on some shoes that arrived via mail order, I was expecting them to be navy - they're a nasty, dull blue. Went into Well Heeled, they'd run out of navy polish but he had an open tin under the shelf, he rubbed the shoes with the polish, left them and then made them SHINE ! They always offer advise on the best inner soles for the money, whether to buy things like protector or not etc. I think they're the definition of a really good, reliable, high street business and long may they last. read more

If I could give more stars I would!! I went to this shoe repairers branch in Lakeside Thurrock once again and was served by Adam, such lovely old fashioned customer service. My husbands expensive boots (which we wouldn't trust with any other repairers as they cost £450 to buy!) were heeled to the highest perfection, these cobblers are trained in the old fashioned way which is so lovely to see...I begrudgingly took my boots to Timpsons last month as I was out of the area at the time and I've never seen such embarrassingly awful shoddy work! Bad mistake! I will only ever take my families boots/shoes to these repairers from now on as I have done for years with my beloved vintage and expensive footwear. I always recommend to all my friends and anyone I talk to. If you have beautiful footwear these guys will do the best job possible. An absolute credit to the old fashioned cobblers of times gone by, keep it up lads! read more
