During the first few days of my stay, they were in almost constant attendance, making sure that my needs were met, and that I was comfortable. The nurses delivered my meds on time and efficiently took my vital signs, so I was always assured that I was under good care. The physical therapy team also helped my recovery to progress apace. Daily exercise periods assured that muscles and other tissues affected by the surgery continued to improve during my stay.

Positive: Knowledgeable, qualified, and caring staff, for the most part…read more The food was not bad, for Hospital type fare. It was better on the weekends, than during the week, for some reason. Most of the Nurses, CNAs, and therapists went above and beyond. They explained what was going to happen each day, as to therapy, linens, tests, medication ajustments, etc. My wife required assistance with the commode, and they were great in helping her. Linen changed when needed. Therapists there are top notch. Negatives: As with everything in life, there is room for improvement. Pine Hill is understaffed, and Nurses are responsible for 10 to 16 patients at a time. The Commode was not cleaned after each use. (Intermittently) The rooms in the facility were way too warm. Multiple complaints by many patients. (This was a 3 week stay in May.) My Wife has Lipidema and needed wound care, which she didn't get at all the first 3 days that she was there, and then it was minimal. She did see a wound Dr. once a week after that, and the wound care improved. Most rooms are double occupancy, and the facility needs to take more of an active role in controlling the TV volume at night when a patient is blasting their TV after 10pm. Makes it hard for the roommate to sleep. My wife is picky when it comes to food, and said that she wanted no milk, cereal, or Apple sauce. She got all 3 anyway. Eggs and toast were cold when delivered.

I'll start by saying my Mom is definitely a complicated patient, but if they don't have the means to properly take care of someone then say so. The Medicare 5/5 is a joke. My Mom was here twice and sent back to the hospital in terrible condition from neglect. Second time she went straight to the ICU and almost died. Place smells nice, once you get past the front door however- disgusting. My Mom got a UTI and then colonized because of staff unhygienic practices. Always dependent loops in my Mom's catheter every single time I came to visit. No wonder she kept getting UTIs. The food is terrible- I don't see how anyone can recover being forced to eat the slop they feed you. They never communicate like they say they will. They say they draw labs, but how are your lab values so different from the hospital? When questioned the DON makes it like it my Moms fault, not theirs. When I originally came to get her stuff there wasn't a nurse around to get me her personal medication. I made a special trip to come back and get them only to be told that they "discarded" them. PT staff rough with my Mom. Told her, "You want to go home and see your family? Get up" - DO BETTER

The quality of caregivers is a hit or miss. There were a few great caregivers and of the 10 or so that cared for my father 2 were worth the cost of care. They interacted with my father and cleaned during the 12 hours they were there. Other caretakers left the floor unswept and counters unwiped. Just some basic expectations when you pay almost $1000/day and leave all supplies out in the open for them to use. One caretaker, per a nurse calling from his doctors office, yelled at my father to come to the phone. That nurse, when we went in for his doctor's visit, questioned who was caring for my dad and suggested we look into potential elder abuse based on the way she interacted with my dad. The final straw that led me to cancel immediately (for which we paid dearly) was when my son went to check on my dad and the master bedroom smelled like feces, the sheet was not washed and the toilet not wiped down. That being said, the office staff are great. I interacted a lot via text, the most effective communication given the timely nature of our problems and the need to adjust caregivers. All of my bad experiences are documented via text, however give laws and the contract they are not accepted when trying to prove a claim. Word to the wise, ALWAYS cover yourself with email. Beware of the owner! Carrie is a great salesperson, but a ruthless business person who does not investigate problem situations within the company. Would love to know if ALL the workers are insured and bonded. Something else to keep in mind when hiring this company.

It's been a few months since I stopped using FirstLight Home Care in Roseville, CA, and I'm only…read morenow writing this because I wanted to make sure I had all the facts together. Overall, it was an extremely frustrating experience, and not just because of billing issues, but also because of serious concerns around professionalism, accountability, and trust. I initially sent an email in December regarding billing discrepancies related to mileage charges and billing time, but never received a response from the staff member I emailed. Because of that, I later followed up by phone, and the conversation was handled poorly. Instead of focusing on resolving the issue, I was met with defensiveness and a lack of accountability from that staff member. The company's stated billing practice is simple: billing should reflect when a caregiver arrives at my door and when they leave my door. This was clearly communicated during intake and at the time of signing the contract. They also stated that mileage is tracked based on errands requested for the client. However, when I raised concerns that my billing, including a specific mileage charge, did not match what was billed, the response I received was defensive and hostile rather than solution-oriented. Communication within the company also seemed disorganized. I was initially told to direct concerns to one person, but later questioned as to why I had not contacted someone else, despite never being informed that was an option. I was eventually offered a small credit for the mileage inaccuracy, which was referred to as "Trump change," and it did not reflect well on the company's accuracy, transparency, professionalism, and billing practices. Overall, the interaction left me feeling unheard and uncomfortable. Additionally, I need to address a serious concern regarding my belongings. After taking time to thoroughly go through my home with a family member, I confirmed that certain items are missing. I initially gave the benefit of the doubt because I am disabled and didn't want to wrongly accuse anyone if something had simply been misplaced. However, after carefully reviewing and reorganizing everything in my house, items that I know were present before a specific caregiver's visits are no longer there. I won't make direct accusations, but the timing and circumstances are concerning, and I feel it's important to share this experience. I also became aware that the company offers bonuses or incentives to their caregivers for getting clients to leave high-rated reviews. While there's nothing wrong with asking for feedback, I think it's important for people to know this because it can give the public a misleading impression of the company's overall care and reputation. When families are looking for home care, and even in my own case, reviews play a major role in deciding who they trust with their loved ones and access to their home. This company knows that, and during intake, they even present and emphasize their "5-star" rating materials. Because of that, I think transparency matters. High ratings do not always reflect the full range of client experience with the company. Overall, all of this made it an experience I cannot recommend. If you value accountability, transparency, professionalism, and feeling secure in your own home, I would strongly reconsider using this company.

Our physical therapist, Steve O., was remarkable! On time to the minute on all 6 visits. He is extremely knowledgeable about hip surgery, and provided excellent, thorough, information and visual aids on recovering from it. To top it off, he is a great guy! Easy to talk to and ask questions of, with a great sense of humor. His last visit was today and we are going to miss him.

The nurses and PTs we have had (for hip and knee replacements) have mostly been very good - but…read morescheduling is a nightmare. The office staff is not at all helpful and they will not schedule visits until the night before. Once you have been assigned someone, you can communicate directly with them - but until then dealing with the office staff is just awful. For the knee replacement, they sent a PT to do both PT and nursing duties. This individual was not qualified for wound assessment/care, and removed the staples too soon resulting in the wound opening - and now we are facing another month of wound treatment. We have had three different "case managers" and the communication has been dreadful. Very disappointing - I would not recommend them.
