I recently stopped there hoping to get my bike looked at ... 2 minutes later I'm out the door with the gears oiled up and ready to hit the streets. No up-selling. No overpriced fees. No long waiting times for what was a simple task. Just honest, warm service, which has been a consistent thing over the past 15 years I've been a customer here. If you want general household supplies (light bulbs, etc.), they'll have it. If you need to get your bike repaired, they can do that. If need keys cuts, they've got you. All in all they're great for all purpose hardware needs. Prices are reasonable across the board. Selection of basic items (screws, brushes, etc.) is better actually than a lot of other stores for practical purposes, and they can accurately advise you on actually performing basic tasks unlike most places. I highly recommend them over the place up the block. Don't let the rough exterior give you pause; these guys will treat you right.

Man, do I wish this was my local hardware store…read more It's less than a mile away, and in most places that would be super local, but here in Brooklyn I've got two or three closer. Those shops wish they were Mazzone though. If I have the time (which I rarely do), I would much rather come down here. The folks behind the counter are friendly, knowledgeable, and they've always got everything I need. The prices are reasonable as well. It's just a little too far for me to walk for just a lightbulb or a screw that I need, but for larger purchases, or if I have actual questions, I find it's worth it. One thing that I like getting from them is my Christmas tree every year. They've always got a great selection, and I'd rather spend my money locally than with the Home Depot, the Whole Foods, or even the dudes on the street who trek down from Canada or wherever. Here the service is better and friendlier; the trees are great, they will saw the end off it (necessary for drinking the water up), and help me strap it to my car if it's too big to fit inside (or if I'm trying not to get needles everywhere). Anyway, Christmas is over for the year, but Mazzone is forever.
