I went to this location to find a halloween costume and the worker maliana was very rude and rolled her eyes when i came up to her when i asked her for help she proceeded to give me attitude. Briana the other worker was on her phone the whole time didnt even bother to look up at me when i asked her a question all they care about at this location is gossiping especially those two when i confronted them they immediately lied to me when asked about the situation. Decided to give this location another chance. Haven't been pleased with their selection or service in the past. Well, I was shocked this location is still around as the Yelp reviews have been scoring low. But you know what? This store has a great selection. Just needs to keep it cleaner and better organized in the front area (were customers first walk in). The aisle on the far right when you first walk in, is maybe for seasonal items. However it was clustered and dirty near the front windows and sparse on down the aisle. The back of the store is kind of cluttered, but that's where the sale items are located. The check out area is nice but where are the cashiers? Only one was working the front when the line began to get long and someone at the front needed help with some items. Another cashier appeared and the line went more smoothly. This was mid morning in a Wednesday. Maybe the other employees were putting things together in the back? Not sure. Add more cashiers, clean up the cluttered seasonal section and front door area. Maybe the customers will keep returning. read more

Typically I'd pick any other store to buy my party supplies because A: they're always less expensive than here, and B:they sell exactly the same stuff elsewhere where I can do one stop shopping. However, I was in the area so I stopped. The pack of balloons (along with other supplies) I bought were way over priced. Got home and half of the balloons in my package were broken. So the next day I went back to exchange. They didn't have the same balloons in stock so I asked for a refund to use towards other balloons. Cashier was extremely rude about the return. Purchased light up balloons that I could've gotten cheaper at a different store. Got those home and only half actually worked?! Is it just that the stock sits on the shelves for too long?? I wasn't about to deal with more attitude so I just cut my losses and know to never bother to return. read more

Everything here is overpriced (look online for a coupon ahead of time), but I usually buy aluminum platters and warmers from here for big parties and bbq's. I have to agree with the other reviewers about customer service. It seems to be teenagers running this place and each time I visit for something, it's never a quick in-and-out. The associates always seem to take a long time to ring up customers and there is never usually more than one person on a register at once. Screw party city! I called ahead to make sure that I could have a large train balloon filled for my son's second birthday party. When I arrived on the day they said that they-- and all the surrounding party cities--were out of helium, and as they told me this they were filling balloons with helium. On the phone I specifically said Saturday and they neglected to tell me that this often happens on weekends. Now I'm stuck with this ballon I bought online and can't do anything with it, which was a major part of our decorations and now ruined. Alexander is the absolute worst CS employee ive ever encountered. I came up to cashout and presented him an item that was cheaper online vs the store. Instead of him confirming its the same product, w/o even checking he says that online prices are different from instore. I then told him that i couldve just ordered it online for pickup. He then radios his Sup saying "This DUDE wants this item cheaper" I had another item that was cheaper online vs store. This time he confirmed i grabbed the wrong item based on packaging. I then asked if he can help me find correct item. Instead of walking me to where item is, he tells me it should be where i got wrong one. I told him it wasnt there and he says "oh were prolly out of it." Online showed they had stock so i looked for it and found it. When i was all ready to check out he asks me if i wanted the 1st item rang in cheaper. NO DUDE I WASTED ALL THIS TIME TO PAY STORE PRICE HELLO!!! I understand things have changed because of COVID and stores are doing things to make people feel safer in their store, however, these practices should make sense. I ordered number balloons for my daughters birthday a few weeks ago and had them delivered to my home in Florida. I am having her get together with a few family members here and took the balloons to party city to be filled with helium. I was told they cannot fill the balloons unless they have been quarantined for a day. The balloons are still in the package which could be sanitized if that is a problem and they can be the first ones to touch the balloons if that is their concern. But quarantined for a day? What difference does 24 hours make? Make it make sense. I was then told I could purchase their balloons for $11.99 a number and they could fill those. Are you kidding me? I will not be using party city anymore. (All other balloons for balloon arches were bought here. SMH) read more

However, I recently had a great experience when a girl named Rinda was so gracious and patient to help me with my purchase and large balloon order. As soon as I walked in the store, I saw an advertisement that mentioned buy one get one free on select items; however, it was extremely difficult to determine which items were "select items". I realize that was not the store's fault per se, but the reason I am giving such a low review is because of the manager that was there. When I first got to the line, there was a young man by the name of Chris that was very pleasant. I was impressed by the fact that he tried to make conversation about what occasion I was purchasing for. However, when the "select items" didn't ring up at buy one get one free, he inquired with a manager (I think her name was Lisa) and instead of taking the time to look at what I had purchased, she just said, "that's only for the Big Party Pack items". It was obvious to Chris and me that I was purchasing Big Party Pack items so when he asked for her help, she looked it was the biggest inconvenience in the world. It's not my fault that these items didn't ring up properly and the way she reacted really made it seem like I was trying to get away with something. I actually felt bad for the young cashier because that manager is not doing him any justice by teaching him it's okay to act like that towards customers. read more

I had a return, and because it was after 30 days, I was told very tersely that I would only receive a store credit and could only use it in THAT store. Worst customer service!!! I came in on Halloween to grab 1 piece for my costume that I forgot. It was busy as expected seeing at it was Halloween. I looked around a little bit, found my item, and went to check out. None of the employees seemed friendly what so ever. When I checked out the girl was unbelievably rude! No "Hi how are you?" "Did you find everything okay?" Nothing. All she said to me was "This is final sale." She gave me my total and wrapped my item in a bag. After I paid she walked away from the register! She didn't say "Thank you have a nice day." Again! Noting.... I understand that it's Halloween and you are swamped but that doesn't give you an excuse to be so rude! I completely agree with Daniel. I've come to this store about 4 times the last month or 2 and the employees there are terrible. They are not helpful at all. They don't smile & they're not friendly. They seem like they don't even want to be there. I asked one of the employees if they had a certain product & he quickly said no & for me to go to another store to find it & I literally found the product in the next aisle!!!! Every time I ask an employee to help me find something, all they do is point to it & not guide me through. I hate going there. I'm never going there again. I'm going to start going to the Crystal Lake location because they are much friendlier. Even the manager was rude and didn't want to help me rent a helium tank because he said he is not going to be there around the time I need it. So he told me to call the general manager of the store, Connie, the following day. She too was very rude and said that she would be unable to help me rent out a helium tank because it's empty even though I told her that I don't need it for another week. Anyway, I would not recommend anyone going to this store. The Crystal Lake store is much happier and have better customer service. read more
