Went to Party City and met Martha, and the manager, James. Both are very helpful and knowledgeable in their function. Very helpful! I have been to party stores and...kind of dread going to them if I'm in any kind of rush. But in this case the time spent was very helpful! They do balloon delivery even if you bring in your own balloons for them to blow up! I would also like to mention Jason, another manager, who was patient, helpful, and knowledgeable as well. He instilled confidence in providing me information about the balloon delivery process and was professional and even thanked me for being a customer. I am sad to see the low star rating. I needed just one little thing and ordered online so I would know it was there and would be ready, I went in to pick it up and was one of just two customers in the entire store (the other person was still shopping). I waited in line while two employees were hunched over their phones looking at something (obviously not work-related) and when they finally realized a customer was there, there was no "oh, we're sorry but how can we help" or even a "hello". I said I was there to pick something up, gave my last name and even said it was just one item. Guy goes to look at the alphabetized bings, and couldn't find it. Then he looked through the rest of the alphabet, still couldn't find it. The coworker he had been hunched over with when I was standing there had disappeared, so she couldn't help, and another guy was kind of just doing nothing at the end of the counter. Guy comes back, asks for my order number so I showed the pickup details from my phone, he entered the info on his store phone and who knows what it told him? Maybe the exact info I had given? 0 stars. If you are seeking party supplies in Boston, I urge you to support small businesses and go elsewhere to avoid extreme disappointment. The manager at this Party City, Jason, is entitled, to say the least, and called the police on me because he did not want to issue a refund on an order I didn't receive, which is theft. According to the FTC mail/internet order rules, he is required to give me a refund. I placed a balloon order the week of my partners birthday. The day my order was supposed to be delivered, I received a partial delivery and an order cancellation without a refund or notice for redelivery. In total, I ordered 35 balloons and 5 foil weights and ended up with 10 balloons and 1 foil weight. I have documentation of the first delivery, the delivery driver, the cancellation, my receipt, the balloons I received, and the ones I didn't receive. I would not go through this much effort for a refund if I didn't spend a lot of money on a balloon order... I called the store several times to share my grievance and was met with incompetence and hostility. One employee and Jason kept saying my balloons were picked up by another driver and on the way, but I had no way of tracking this redelivery. While I was trying to investigate and get more details from the store, I was informed that since Party City does their delivery through DoorDash, the store couldn't help me. I contacted DoorDash's customer service and whoever had the order marked it as delivered, which wasn't true. DoorDash tried getting in touch with the store to help me resolve the issue. Since I paid Party City they would need to either issue another balloon order or refund me. The customer service representative had no luck getting in touch with the store. When I called back, one employee was trying to figure out what to refund me on and Jason proceeded to tell her that they do not have time for a refund and they would deal with it the following Monday. After reading other reviews, it looks like this is Jason's MO. While I was on the phone with Jason, I explicitly said that I planned on reporting him because he was delaying and refusing my refund and was met with "Make sure you spell my name right," and he hung up on me. I didn't trust that he would refund me and decided to go to the store to settle the refund in person. While in the store, I stood in line with other customers. I got to the front of the register and said I was there for a refund. Jason asked me which order I was referring to. When he realized it was me, I was met with incredible hostility and he said "I don't have time for this, either get out of my line or get out of my store." Within 45 seconds, Jason called the Boston police and told them I was refusing to leave the store and that I was asking to be refunded on an order that I refused to return. This dude called the cops and lied to them rather than dealing with the situation in a calm matter. He proceeded to try and intimidate me by telling me that he was the owner of the building and Massachusetts law allowed him to kick me out of the store. Imagine going to a pizza shop. You place an order for six pizzas and they only deliver two. You go back to the shop and explain that part of your order wasn't delivered and you'd like a refund. The proprietor freaks out and tells you that they're too busy to help you and you need to leave the store or they're calling the cops. Sounds crazy, no? FYI the owner of this franchise is someone named James K. and as far as I was made aware, Jason is just some manager, not the building or business owner. This man caused a scene... he wasted my time, his time, other patrons time, and the Boston police's time. My partner and I didn't speak to the police and ended up leaving. I filed a report with Party City corporate. The situation has been escalated and I'm waiting to hear back about the next steps. This business needs a manager overhaul and Jason needs to check his ego and get some customer service training. It is bizarre that he felt he had to call the cops as a scare tactic and a way to refuse a refund because they were "too busy" to use the ticketing system. If he was having a bad day, he sure was going out of his way to make it my problem, and overall, this is not a way to operate a business. Ran in to grab balloons last minute for a baby shower the Saturday before Halloween. The store was packed but all of the lines moved very quickly and Jason went out of his way to personally fill up the balloons on the spot after another employee told us it would be a 1-2 hour wait. Typically you're supposed to order balloons ahead of time but we had no idea and are SO grateful for Jason!!!! I wish I could leave a 0 star review. We ordered balloons for a 45th birthday party on a Tuesday. This consisted of two balloons (a giant 4 and a giant 5). This was set to be picked up on the following Saturday. On Saturday morning, at around 8 am, my wife received a call from the manager, waking us up, to tell us that there is no "5" available. Of course, we are disappointed as it is the day of the party and we ordered well in advanced. "Hostile" is the only word that I can describe this manager. She ended up yelling at us and getting into a shouting match after telling us that they did not have what we ordered. When we asked about calling another Party City to inqure if they had the material, she snapped back, "I work at this location, not others!". I am amazed at how unfriendly and condescending this manager acted. To top things off, we were still charged for the services that we did not receive. Charging us for service that we did not receive is a clear breach of consumer rights. We will now end up fighting with Party City and our credit card company. We are enraged. We ended up at the Party City in Everett, and what a world of difference. The manager there was so much more helpful and very sympathetic. read more

My parents, elederly people, came to the store in order to buy 2 balloons for their granddaughter's birthday celebration. They were informed that due to staff shortage, these balloons couldn't be inflated at the time of purchase and offered free delivery. After a couple of hours of wait time, only one ballon was delivered. When they called the store, they were told that the second ballon didn't fit in the car and would be delivered in 20 minutes with a different driver. My parents waited in their retirement community lobby for 2 hours, and 2nd ballon was never delivered. They tried to call the store again but nobody was picking up the phone. I called the next day on their behalf, and the employee who picked up the phone hung up on me as soon as he heard the last name on the order. I called 2nd time and spoke with an employee named James, who informed me that 2nd ballon will be delivered today. When ballon arrived, it was partially deflated. My dad called the store again and spoke with James, who agreed to arrange delivery of another ballon again. In addition, none of them ever apologized to my parents about the whole ordeal. read more

The Peabody MA Party City needs new management apparently! Can't handle a busy day of balloon orders and so won't take any "walk-in balloon orders?! I wanted 1 balloon. Just 1 balloon and I'll be on my way. But they refused me. Too busy. This is the party pooper store. I called the Saugus store and although they were busy too the woman said she would happily do it! Then later I told my Party City disappointment story and I heard about others who were let down by the Peabody Party City with orders not ready or messed up. So there are several people I encountered on yesterday that will now avoid giving the Peabody store their business. Why is your store so ridiculous??? And why this was more than frustrating was that the drive time in bumper to bumper afternoon traffic and having to go to another store also bad traffic was 90 minutes!! For 1 big old balloon. They have the typical party supplies but they also have reasonably priced serving dishes with a bit of color which pops a bland table with a punch. If I could give 0 stars I would. I walked in to get 1 happy birthday balloon. Next time I'll just go to the grocery store. There were 4 workers st the desk and it took 5 min for them to address me. One was the manager talking to someone about a display but in a derogatory way. One girl looked at me several times, never once helped me. I called ahead about returning a costume without a receipt I was told I could for store credit. I repeatedly asked "are you sure? Do I need to ask for you? Do I need to exchange for another costume? And all the while the store is small, I've managed to get stuck in a maze of boas, hats, beads, and other accessories and party goods. But I do have the say the staff here, though younger, which I kinda expected, were particularly friendly and very helpful with our purchase. I think I made her uncomfortable when I asked, "Don't you have any boobie stuff in here? We don't really need penises". Once an I-Party, this Party City has pretty much everything you need for any type of party. They have great seasonal items and cheap paper goods if you're having a basic shindig with friends. My only issue with Party City is that, aside from the basic paper goods, their party decorations run pretty pricey. I have been to many iparty's in my day. They are overpriced but sometimes necessary for birthdays, baby showers and bachelorette parties. So I was pleasantly surprised one exists in Brighton. This weekend I am throwing another bachelorette party....ugh. I love my friends but after three times as an MOH and many others as a bridesmaid I feel like I could write a book. So I came here to buy the necessary tiaras, balloons and plates, napkins and penis shaped items. The store is small and crowded but a young man immediately asked if I needed help. He showed me right to the bachelorette section and all the staff was really friendly. Overall some of the best customer service I have had in a long time. Thank you iparty management. read more

Party city puts their shrink before their customers and it makes everybody super anxious. There is only 1 isle of Halloween costumes which is bazaar to me since its such a profitable season. You cant see small variety of costumes they do have unless you ask an employee. There are only a couple of employees to serve 50+ people. The isles are not to code what so ever, there is literally an isle near the hats that is less than two feet in width next to a fire exit... What happened to iparty? They had plenty of helpful employees, 8-10 isles of costumes and it was spaced out enough where you didn't feel super anxious. read more

IParty has some really good party supply deals and i like the layout and the way party themes are grouped so you can pretty much shop brainlessly. I went shopping for some goodie bag fillers and found that while they had decent deals on bulk candy, the non-edibles were kind of pricey, at least considering that i needed 20 of a given toy/treat. there were plenty of staff at the balloon desk in the middle of the store, and i thought those prices were good too (7.99 per dozen = 67 cents ea), but otherwise the staff was hard to find and there was only one cashier who got pulled away by a shopper needing help and left me at the cash register. be careful with pricing too. I got some 37 cent napking packs from the clearance bin and first was charged 1.49, then 75 cents. she didn't get how the discount worked. also i'd picked up some cute plates that had a tag saying 3.15 on the shelf directly below where they sat, and she charged me 3.50, saying 3.15 was the napkin price. she did change it though, when i protested bad signage. meh, it's a party store. you'll find what you need. read more

The store is packed very tightly and it is hard to find things. I walked up and down the aisles, hoping to find an employee who might be able to help me locate the two items I came in for. When I finally went the register to ask for help, I was lectured about how many staff there were, where they were located, and how I should have known. No apologies. I called asking whether or not they rented/sold tanks or a machine that inflates balloons. The gentleman who answered the phone said they had them but didn't know how many they inflated. So I asked him to find out and he seemed "put off" but said it would take a while. I said fine, I'll hold. I waited for over 17 minutes on hold then got off the phone. When I called back again I had a woman answer but she seemed very disinterested in the whole affair, not pleasant, definitely not a customer focused individual. She did however answer my question. However, coming from a very customer focused company I'll say that neither of them really make the grade. one star. If I was the manager of that place I'd be embarrassed at the very least and would consider retraining all the staff. Unless of course they don't care either. People Are looking for Halloween costumes and they keep saying we don't have it even though it says in stock online. So then they are all swarming one manager hoping for a competent answer. He also tells everyone no we don't have it go online. Half of the things that are in the store are on the floor. I realize these places run on razor thin margins, so they don't have a lot of extra money to invest in customer service and the overall experience. But this place is pretty bad. I picked out a whole series of balloons that I wanted, but their inventory management is so bad that only a few of the balloons were available. They filled the balloons and tied them off, but the moment I walked out of the store several of the knots came undone and the balloons floated away. They were gracious about giving me a refund immediately, but I did have a bit of a strange experience during the refund process. It's as if they're used to giving refunds all the time. Like this is a normal event. I think they would be well served to invest in better customer service so they can give less refunds. read more

The staff here are miserable. I was asked if I needed help by a woman in the isle. She was nice enough but she seemed to be really busy and asked if we needed something to be polite not because she wanted to help. When we went to check out the girl at the register was not happy. She looked like she hated life. She was annoyed that she had to check us out and even more annoyed that I asked her to ring up a second set of balloons so I could get the discount. She rolled her eyes at us. She needed to have another associate assist her with the helium tank and she even gave attitude to the associate that helped her. I went here to buy some gear in preparation for my church's VBS and found some really cool stuff! They are open pretty much every day, so I would highly recommend this store if you are planning a party for your children! Argued with me over a 1 day expiration of a coupon when I was getting a boatload of merchandise for my kid's bday party. Annoying- I had easily over $100 worth of merchandise and they were going to quibble about less than $2 bucks? I explained I had 50 more in the car but... they held up the line to be petty. Then there was a huge override drama that she involved another cashier (further tying up lines) that ultimately the manager had to address - and they were RUDE.
