I went to the front register and was told that they were "opting out" of any on line sales, EVEN if I paid for in store pick up using the Party City website. I will admit, that when I went into the store this afternoon, I had rather low expectations. I've bought from Party City before, and I'd always be met with sub-par customer service, or just lack of overall real help; I'd usually get on-to-three-word responses from employees with no real concern for helping out, that sort of stuff. I hadn't been to this location in a while, and last I visited, it was concerningly bare. But when I went in this time, the place was lively and the shelves were much more stocked than I had seen them previously, and it actually looked quite inviting! I was even greeted by at least 2 employees on the far side from the front door with a "Welcome in!", which was really nice. I went in simply for a costume and some balloons, and the employees were quite delightful. A shorter woman in orange, with a long brown ponytail helped me for a specific Mario costume, which they didn't have sadly, but I was glad to be shown alternatives in Aisle 2, I believe. (There were tons of accessories and other costumes I hadn't even thought of, I wasn't even aware that Party City carried Halo stuff) As for the balloons, the gentleman with the short blond-brown and sunglasses, and the girl glasses and dreadlocks were insanely helpful with, well, helping me assemble a bouquet. Go to Amazon instead, three times cheaper and always returns available. There is no sign anywhere in the store stating these were non refundable. I went yesterday to order/fill some balloons for my son's memorial today, as I've done the last 7 yrs. I stood by the balloons for at least 15 min with no help. And 3 people who work there even looked at me. I finally went to the cashier who was clueless. Didn't even know their store hours - he had to look at the door sign! I throw a lot of parties, as you may know. This particular Party City location has been instrumental in helping me decorate my shindigs and for that, I am eternally grateful. They must think I'm nuts because most of my conversation with them go something like this: "Hey, I'm having a party. I need pink cowboy hats with tiaras on them, Hawaiian flowers, do you have any backgrounds with fire dancers, or maybe dolphins? Oh! And I almost forgot, I need mardi gras beads. A lot of them. And a helium machine. Yeah, that should do it." And the thing is, while they probably think I am a bit crazy, they always have what I need, or help me order items that aren't in stock. I had the worst customer service of my life here! In short I went days ago to make sure they could fill my balloons (5) for my gender reveal party due to a helium shortage. Yesterday I went to pick up a curbside order and checked in on the app. Waited about 10mins and noticed it wasn't busy so I went inside. An associate was putting things away so I let her know I'd been waiting. She said she had no way of knowing and I asked why do we check in on the app and she said she could bring a manager but I said no it was ok and asked if she could instead look up my order and she couldn't find it. She didn't offer any help so I told her I could provide the conf email and then she proceeded to look it up and still couldn't locate. She called someone and was then able to locate. This Party City location is nearest to work and is basically our go to for birthdays, last minute customer appreciation events, and holidays. Also, when I completely forget and or need last minute party supplies and need to do so in my crunch of a lunch hour. It's a really convient location. Employees are always helpful and everything is well organized. Only thing lacking is the amount of these employees. Usually there is a wait at the cash register because of this and finding someone to help is a bit of a struggle. read more

I co-hosted a baby shower and celebrated my husband's birthday in the same week this year, which was totally busy and crazy! The afternoon I spent running errands, I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond for a cake pan, Hallmark for cards, and Hobby Lobby for last minute craft needs and food coloring for cookie frosting. Little did I know that all those things could be found at Party City! My complaint with this Party City is that a few of the items I wanted were out of of stock, including the streamers I wanted for my husband's 30th birthday celebration. However, I found an open pack of them sitting on a shelf (???) so they sold them to me at a discount and as a final sale item. The staff is nice enough, but it's pretty obvious none of them really love their job. They help when it's asked of them, but I've never had anyone help me that was particularly enthusiastic to do so. Don't make my mistake--if you are pressed on time, go to Party City FIRST, and then go get whatever you couldn't find there somewhere else. read more

Very surprised by this Party City, came here to purchase costumes for a party! They have a large variety of costumes for Halloween, and the store was very organized and well kept. In comparison to Halloween store, this store was kept clean, the costumes were all organized by size and everything was where it belonged. I didn't have to scramble or search through heaps of clothing to find costumes. Customer service was great! Very helpful asking frequently if anything was needed and if we were doing ok. Another place, I came on a weekend evening and surprisingly the store was not packed. I also liked the fact that when searching for a costume, they had all the costumes laid out on a wall with photos and numbers, indicating what sizes were available, you just choose the size and style and they provide the costume for you. The one located on 13419 San Pedro Ave. I ordered online a bouquet of 20 balloons at 1:32 pm for curbside pickup at 4:00 pm for my brother's birthday. I received an email at 2:38 pm indicating my order was ready for pickup. When I arrived at 3:58 pm I called and gave the person my name. Five minutes went by and nothing. I entered the store and spoke with a clerk at the counter. She went to go look for the balloons and couldn't find any. She opened a drawer near me and the packet of balloons were in the drawer with my name and order details. The balloons were inflatted but poorly in addition to the fact that I didn't receive my order until 4:30 p.m. Walking to my car two balloons popped. I am definitley going to have to look for another location with better service or find a local business I can support. For $35.33 I would have expected better customer service and a quality product. read more

Then if you over buy & try to return anything, even with your receipt, they tell you it's exchange only for the same type of product you just want to return! I can't be sure that this is Party City's Corporate Office. To me, it has been our Halloween supplier for three consecutive years. What I hate the most about Halloween are all of the pop-up Halloween places aimed at the holiday market. San Antonio must have a Halloween outlet every block and it drives me crazy. Why? I dunno, probably because I'm a mother flipper. (That has been my reasoning for everything these days.) Besides the point, Party City is opened year round and they are consistent in pricing and Halloween attire. I may pay a few extra bucks but they have a great refund policy up until the week before Halloween and that is quite important when a child can't make up his or her mind. I am always impressed by the speedy costume and check out service. Party City is the place to beat on all Halloween (and other holiday) ideas. read more

Please be aware of there extremely outdated return policy. Returns with receipt within 30 days or you can only exchange it in their store SAME DAY. Today I went in to return a couple of items and left my wallet behind on the cashiers counter. After 30 minutes I noticed my wallet missing. I called the store and to my surprise they had it. Once I arrived the wallet was brought out by a manger which I thanked. Arriving home I noticed three gift cards missing from the wallet. I'm totally bummed out that even though my wallet and credit cards were returned. Someone took it upon their self to steal after doing such a nice deed. I called the store and spoke with a manger who checked their surveillance cameras and of course nothing showed anyone removing items from the wallet. i have been to this exact same location for the exact same thing 3 times and been disappointed all 3 times. Not my favorite, and especially not after today. I have bought balloons all 3 times, but today was special. It was a shower for my little sister. The last time they didn't even have my balloon order ready, for my son's 2nd birthday party, and I waited nicely and was late to his party, but this time I went to order balloons for the shower & they were very busy, only had 1 cashier at the front. I asked for 10 white and 10 caribbean blue balloons. They only have 4 caribbean blue and no white. So I decided, that's ok, I'll change the colors to Royal Blue and Vanilla/Cream....not too far off, right? I'm not a very high maintenance person, as you can tell. I try to just roll with it, and trust me, I get it. It's Party City, everyone is working for minimum wage and no one wants to deal w/ my issues over a silly shower, but when it means something to you, you want it to mean something to everyone, right? The cashier guy was very kind, however sweating and seemed frustrated and overworked. He went digging through the balloons and found that they were limited, so we finally found 10 round myla Royal Blue balloons and 10 Vanilla/Cream Myla Balloons, however all the vanilla were stars. Again, oh well....but this time I said, can you give me a discount? I was frustrated because it's a shower and stars are not a shower theme, ok? I wanted hearts and asked if they had those,but they didn't and all the colors were so picked over that I thought, what the heck, I'll ask if they will accommodate my inconveniences today. The kind cashier attendance used his microphone to call the manager on duty to ask if he could offer a discount "to the lady who didn't get what she asked for" and the manager sent back a prompt 'No." With no questions, nothing. I was in shock. The attendant saw the look on my face and how disappointed I was. I had worked with him on every single point that he asked me to, and when I finally asked for one thing, I got nothing in return. AND.....to top it all off, I picked up the balloons for the shower I received 8 STAR SHAPED ROYAL BLUE BALLOONS AND 10 STAR SHAPED VANILLA BALLOONS. There were only 2 oval balloons in the entire 20 that I purchased. What a rip off.....for nothing that I wanted. At least I got to hand pick the flower that I wanted, so I used those and just let my son play with these waste of $50 balloons. So sad. I promise you, I will go out of my way to NEVER return to Party City again. read more
