Listen to your inner voice! Don't allow them to order a garment multiple sizes larger than you normally wear. I normally wear size 10/12 top and size 8 bottom. When ordering a gown, the sales associate said that I should order size 20! We negotiated ordering a size 18 after trying on a size 18 dress adjusted with clips. I understood that some alterations would be necessary, but the 18 still seemed like too much of a jump. Well the dress was so large that it wouldn't even stay on me. My seamstress significantly resized the top of the dress, but refused to remake the bottom. I was able to put on the dress without unzipping it. It should have been fitted under the bust, but hung nearly to my hips. I had to find another dress for my event. I gave a partial score for the wide dress selection and the efficient ordering and payment process. Prices are average with other specialty shops. read more

So many incredible things to say about this store! I have been shopping here since 2009 (my daughter too) and the selection is magnificent, the staff friendly and competent, the customer service above and beyond anything I have ever experienced. Not only have I purchased special occasion cocktail dresses here, but formal gowns as well for galas and red carpet events. Great casual selection of day dresses and very eclectic and unique purses and jewelry. If you are looking to have an amazing shopping day in a veritable "fantasy dress wonderland" this store is a must see. The styles, colors and designers are endless! Where do I begin? place is totally ripping people off by selling cheap busted up dresses at ridiculous prices, also their no return policy is completely bogus. My daughter bought a prom dress here and it needed $100 worth of alterations. This is her first prom and with covid we did not have a lot of time to prepare. we bought the dress more out of desperation because of lack of time. I am 100% absolutely regretting buying from here. The sales rep was really good and made my daughter feel so comfortable and was very informative and attentive. really wish I listened to my instincts. NEVER again!! I will never go to this store again! I went there when I was a bridesmaid & I was shocked at the "customer service" we received. When we were having our measurements taken so we could order our dresses, some of us were told to lose weight or to wear a spanx! It was very humiliating! When my friend went to look for her wedding dress (the same day we picked out our dresses), we were told to "do our jobs as bridesmaids and pick out dresses" for the bride to try on. Then she left us completely alone to fend for ourselves! It didn't get better when it came time to do the alterations. All that had to be done on my dress was a simple hem & have it taken in a bit around the bust. It was taken in too much and was so tight. I was given a ridiculous explanation as to why that it was like that. She must have thought I was stupid & didn't know anything about sewing! To make matters worse, all the dresses had stains on them (like someone had eaten something & didn't wash their hands after). They tried blaming one of the bridesmaids children saying he had touch the dresses (he was sitting off to the side the entire time). I'm just starting planning my own wedding and I definitely will not be going to this store! read more

This review is for bridesmaid dresses for 5 girls. For the record, I also gave the owner the opportunity to talk to me before posting this, and she never replied to me. So here it goes: Pros: -Access to Huge selection (even if they don't have an example of the actual dress in stock) -One or two of the bridal sales people were super nice Cons: -You can't place orders online. Or submit payments online. This is kind of ridiculous in 2012. This brings me to... -They never answer their phone. Ever. All 5 of my bridesmaids called me numerous times complaining that they couldn't get a hold of anyone there to submit their payments. This is a huge pain for the bride and bridesmaids. Extra stress I didn't need. I even called personally to complain about this and was given the excuse "our phone system is having problems" for 3 months straight. Inexcusable when you only allow orders/payments via phone or in person (none of us live near this store). - They don't follow up - because of the problems contacting them via phone, we had to plan calls with them so the bridesmaids could submit payment, and often they didn't call when they were supposed to. - The owner isn't responsive to complaints - Before posting a review like this, I wanted to give the owner the chance to try to make it right. I left 2 messages for her (she knew I was not a happy customer) and she never bothered to respond to address my concerns. The salesperson had promised me she would too. I would never, ever recommend ordering bridesmaid dresses here if you don't live within a 5 or 10 mile radius of the place. Because it will cause you stress and you will waste time trying to complete your order. Dear God, No. Is there a zero stars option? Before even walking into the store, I was hesitant... it looks like Ocean State Job Lot from the door... typical warehouse filled with cheap junk. My Mother and I both sighed, but we entered (at our own discretion). We got a casual "hey" as the girl at the front door barely looked up from her computer screen. We walked to the back, pulled a few dresses, and after seeing bugs in one bag and witnessing an alterations confrontation in the dressing room, we walked out. I came in to shop for bridal gowns, hoping to score a great deal and prepared for a great experience because PDX is famous for its huge selection. I visited with a friend on a weekday afternoon, and the store was dead empty---just a few salespeople milling about, chatting. No one looked up, greeted us, or asked if we needed assistance. Undeterred, my friend and I picked an armful of gowns, figuring that we would eventually be approached. We found a fitting room, remarked that it was odd that no one was helping us (the gowns are used, but they're still expensive inventory!), and proceeded to try on to our hearts' content. After a half hour or so, we emerged, re-racked our discards, and began to peruse the one-of-a-kind gowns. Still, no offer of assistance. 15 minutes later (after several finds and a run-in with some beetle-like insect as I checked the train on a display dress), I spotted what must have been the most expensive gown in the place ($2300) because the minute I picked it up, a salesperson swooped over and asked if she could start a dressing room for me. I explained that I had started one already, at which point she pulled my selections out of my hands, exclaiming "well, you need a bridal consultant in order to try on our gowns!" and waltzed off with quite the attitude. My friend and I followed her to the opposite end of the dressing/viewing area, where we were informed by another consultant that she would assist me with zipping/adjusting the dresses. My friend was not allowed to help me get into any of them, but the consultant didn't help, either! After I managed to get each dress on, she would pull the zipper up a half inch and send me to the pedestal. Some of the dresses were so big that I had to wrap my arms around my bodice to keep from exposing my goods to all of Fall River, but never once did she adjust a dress or clip it to my undergarments. I gave up after 2 gowns, one of which was the gorgeous $2300 option that I had seriously considered before noticing that the glass beading at the neckline was torn beyond repair. I will never return to PDX, and I will never recommend them to anyone! I was well-prepared for a more casual atmosphere, and would have happily tried on gowns with my friend all day long. If a consultant or salesperson had approached me in a considerate manner at any point during the visit, that would have been an added bonus, But to be ignored, chastised, and then (at the store's behest) reluctantly tossed into gowns and sent half-naked to the mirror, all in quick succession, was beyond belief. PDX is located in the Fall River mill outlets, and it lives up to its surroundings. Dated furnishings, dirty, stretched-out samples and off-the-rack product, and terrible, terrible service. This review is written from this perspective: I was 3 months away from my wedding, had never tried a wedding dress on before, had no idea what I wanted, and didn't see the point in spending more than $1000. A friend had told me to try this place, and the fact that it wasn't JUST a bridal shop was appealing to me, as I found the whole idea of shopping for a wedding dress to be very intimidating. After walking through the front of the store, which contained every color and style of dress imaginable, we made it to the bridal section at the back. They took my name right away and set me up with one of the saleswomen (forget her name). She seemed a little daunted by how near my wedding was and how very few specifications I had in mind (my ONE request was no "bling"). After telling me they'd sold the dress I'd seen on their website and liked, she preceded to bring me a bunch of dresses I didn't really like, but I tried them on anyway to see what styles I looked good in. They were all kind of frumpy and I was starting to feel discouraged. Enter Jackie! She swooped in and took over, as the other woman's "shift had ended." I immediately showed her the initial picture of the dress I'd liked on the website, she took a look at what was already in my dressing room and said, "these are all nothing like it!" (I know...), and came back with the first dress that I put on and actually felt comfortable and sexy in. It had a big pop of bling-ness right on the front though, which I wasn't having, so Jackie came back with another. She informed me that it was 50% off, then left me to try it on. It looked a hot mess off, but once I put it on I knew it was the one. It was slightly snug, so she brought the owner over to see if they'd be able to let the seam out at all. She assured me they could, and that even though it was off the clearance rack, a $200 alteration package could be added on. I decided to buy the dress sans alteration package, and a few months of healthier eating and some exercise had it fitting perfectly! I am beyond thrilled. So all in all, I tried on about 8 dresses, found the perfect dress that I never knew existed, and spent $550. Boom. Overall pros: Generally inexpensive, with some great deals on those clearance racks! Nice, helpful salespeople (but get Jackie!) All the regularly priced dresses include the alteration package No appointment needed The only cons I can see are that the dressing rooms were a bit small (I could barely fit in there with some of the dresses), and the majority of the dresses are in bags so you have to root around quite a bit. If you're like me...a bit last-minute, without a specific vision of what you want, and not expecting your afternoon to be like an episode of Say Yes to the Dress with huge couches for your family to gaze up at you from as you stand "jacked up" on the runway, then I'd say this could easily be your spot to shop. I went to Party Dress Express in November 2013 to look for bridesmaid dresses for a wedding I was in. First walking in, I was not impressed with the looks of the store, but was pleasantly suprised that they had so many more bridesmaid dresses than David's Bridal. We recieved 3 star service and did find our bridesmaid dresses. So with getting married myself, I decided to go in January 2014 to look for a wedding dress. My consultant, Jackie was extremely rude to my mom, aunt, and cousin. My mom pulled a dress that had a silve tint and when I had it on, my mom asked "Do you like the color?" in a regular tone. Jackie snapped and said "One of you pulled the dress, I didn't," which was completely uncalled for. I didn't even get to answer and I did like the color. Then I tried on a dress with a low a-line style. My cousin was said that it looked similar to a mermaid dress, which I was not interested in. Jackie aggressively insisted that it was not a mermaid dress and then went to the racks to get a mermaid dress to try on. She did not smile and was rude to my family, which made it completely uncomforable for me as a bride and upset my family. This was not a positive experience and I will not be shopping their again. read more

I came here with my sister and mom to help my sister look for a bridal gown. We heard about the store from a family friend who had recently got married. She had a beautiful designer dress that she got here off the rack for about $300. We walked in, sans appointment, and the first thing you notice is that the store is HUGE. Puts any David's Bridal to shame. It wasn't the most well-organized, but I could find everything okay. The girl helping us was probably only about 20 years old, but she was very friendly, listened to what my sister wanted, and extremely patient. My sister tried on about 12 dresses and fell in love with two. She finally decided on one, but since this was the first store we went to, the sales associate suggested we try other stores in the area to see if she found anything else she liked. She wanted her to be sure this was her dress. She gave names and directions to other business. I thought that was fantastic and proved she cared more about my sister finding the right dress than making a sale. It actually reminded me of Miracle on 34th Street when the Santa starts telling parents which stores sell which toys at the cheapest prices, haha. In the end, my sister wanted the dress at PDE. We went back and everything went smoothly. I tried on a bridesmaid dress here, which I ended up buying online for cheaper. The only bonus to buying here is that all alterations are included in their prices. I knew I'd only need the dress hemmed, so buying online was more beneficial to me. The offer a large selection of prom, semi, mother of the bride and bridesmaids dresses. Prices of the dresses vary, so I'm sure you can find something in your range. A comment about one of the girls who complained they had nothing to try on in smaller sizes...this was not my first wedding dress shopping adventure and I have yet to go into a store that carries anything smaller than an 8. You probably won't find that unless you're going to a really high-end place. My friend is a size 4/6 and tried on size 16 at most places. It is aggravating, but you make do. read more

I would not recommend this place to any bride, it is highly unprofessional. We are in a destination wedding on May 5th in Aruba and we ordered our dresses for the bridal party back in January. When our dresses came in two weeks late they told us the entire wedding party and bride had to come in together for fittings or they couldnt be done. They dont offer Sunday alterations, only Tuesday and Thursday 10am-6pm and Saturdays 8am-12pm. The Saturdays were booked up until almost the end of April and for someone who works a full time 9-5 job you cant get there in time for the weekeday appointments. Upon several frustrating calls to try and schedule something we were told after that we did not need to go together, which wasted 2 weeks of time we could've gotten our dresses fitted. It is one month before we leave for the wedding and the bride just got a phone call that they never ordered her dress so they would give her a full refund of her money. ??? Whatever the excuse may be to have not ordered the dress is completely unacceptable and then their solution was to give her the floor model, have it "spot cleaned", and altered from a size 12 to a size 2. In theory it would be great except the top of the dress does not look right since the sizing was so off. I would never recommend this place to anyone getting married that doesnt want to be stressed out about the clothing for a wedding. read more

If you're looking for a huge store that carries tons of prom and occasion dresses, this is definitely the place to go. It keeps you from having to go around to a hundred different stores to find the right dress, because the huge room is just packed with every imaginable dress style. It is impossible not to find something you either like or enjoy trying on, and the people there are so nice and helpful. They were shocked and humbled when I told them I had come from an hour away! They are very helpful in finding sizes and very knowledgeable about what tailoring might have to be done. They told me my measurements equaled a size 10. Which sounded off as I'm typically a small/4, but I was assured the dress "ran small" so that I shouldn't be alarmed by the large number. I took their word and ordered this large sized dress - big mistake. The dress was so gigantic it literally fell to the floor when I put it on (since it was a strapless gown). I called them to see if they could exchange it for a the right size, but they told me it was too late to reorder - and actually revealed their scam when they changed their tune and told me the dress is known for 'running large'. Which obviously is the exact opposite of what they told me when ordering! Maybe it was an honest mistake, but when alteration costs are involved I'm sure it was done intentionally to get more revenue. I ended up paying the same cost as the stupid dress just to alter it. I would prefer to pay a little more at the start and have an honest sales person, than to be tricked into needing such extensive alterations that you're basically buying a second dress. Shady sales people aren't my cup of tea. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable place that won't con you. UPDATE TO THE REPLY: I understand the need to order per your largest body part, the point of my complaint and the reason I am not happy with the business I did at PDE is that I was told one thing upon ordering "ran small" and then the exact opposite later when I received the dress.. "oh yes that dress is known for running large." Aka, they told me whatever fit the convo better I guess, and were either lying or are clueless. The dress was well over an inch too large but because I was not offered free alterations (like the rest of the bridal party was) I opted to pay someone else, rather than PDE.. therefore my situation is now fixed and there's no need to bring the dress anywhere. Got a goregous ceremony dress from here off the clearance rack and the staff didn't treat me like a second-class bride for wanting to budget this portion of my wedding. However, there were lovely full-priced gowns too and they had a wonderful selection to boot. The women who work here are friendly, helpful and honest- the women assisting my grandmother and I told me when something flattered my figure and when I should "move on" to a different selection. The only "con" to PDE is the sketchy mill it's located in but since Planet Fitness opened next to it the parking lot seems safer- there's a lot more people in and out more frequently than before. They have a fairly good range of dresses and all sizes whether you are very slim, curvy or thick. I have gone to stores with larger selections, but the quality of their Bridal Consultants far out paces all of the other places I've visited. My consultant, Rosemary, is a rockstar. I tried over 50 dresses at two other locations on the same day and those consultants just could not seem to understand me or my style. With Rosemary, she quickly understood me and even suggested something that I would not have selected...The dress she picked was one of my two favorites in the end. From the moment we walked in to Party dress express we were greeted with such a warm welcome. This was my first time trying on dresses, and to see all the dresses there was very over whelming, but a very nice woman, Maria took my had and lead me away from the dresses and said"dont worry we will work to find your perfect dress, one by one if we have too". It was just so reassuring to know that they weren't just trying to rush me to make a sale, they really wanted to make sure that this experience for me was perfect. I can't give enough praise for the wonderful service and understanding that the PDE staff provided in summer 2013 for my wedding! For starters, I walked in having absolutely no idea what I wanted for a gown. Taizha, was a doll and went through dresses of various styles, even ones I said I knew I didn't want. I ended up falling in love with a dress that I had skipped over, but she suggested I try based on my body shape and skin / hair / eye color. I didn't want strapless so she had a seamstress glide in and fashion the most amazing sleeves from some material that was laying around. With the sleeves in place, the dress was amazing and well below my budget (and included alterations!!!). I told them that even though I loved the dress, it was only the first place I'd looked and I wanted to try on a dress of a brand they didn't carry so would get back to them. There was no pressure from them, just good wishes with whatever dress I chose. I loved how helpful but non-pushy everyone was. After thinking about it for a week, I never tried on another dress and ran back to order from PDE. I had ordered my gown way ahead of schedule do to my husband being from England and the uncertainty that goes along with the fiance visa process. PDE was happy to store my gown for a year and said to just call them and let them know if I needed it held longer. We had a very last minute change of plans thanks to the visa process and the ladies in alterations were able to work magic and have take my gown from still in the packaging to wedding-ready in two weeks. The alterations were perfect without needing a bunch of extra adjustments, appointments are a breeze and everyone there is so friendly and accommodating even when I needed beading removed from the underarm area of my dress during my second to last appointment! They built sleeves onto my gown using fabric ordered from the designer and they fit so beautifully that everyone was shocked that they weren't part of the original dress. I have spoken with a few brides since the wedding on Aug 24, 2013, and wholeheartedly recommend Party Dress Express! The prices are great and you cannot beat the bridal sales and alteration departments! read more

Party Dress Express is fantastic! I have 2 daughters that were in need of dresses this spring. One was able to purchase a dress off the rack the other needed to order hers. When the dress came in it was too small. The manager swung into action and took care of everything. She not only ordered another dress she ordered two more, just to make sure my daughter had the right fit. We were able to go back and try both dresses to get the best possible fit. Summary for those who like it short 'n' sweet: -Big store with a big selection -Helpful, friendly salespeople and assistants who don't pressure you to buy -Good prices -Ability to browse and pull the wedding gowns that you want to try on This place is AMAZING. You might not expect much from the name or the location, but if you are a bride-to-be or bridesmaid-to-be, DO NOT pass over this place! I first called Party Dress Express because they were listed as a vendor for a particular dress I fell in love with online. The woman on the phone was very helpful, and said that although they did not carry a sample for "my" dress, they had similar styles that I could try on if I'd like to get an idea of the fit. She also quoted me a very reasonable price which included alterations if I decided to order my dress. It was the best price I had heard from all the places I had called, and I proceeded to read good things about the store, so I gathered up my full bridal party (4 maids and my mama) and headed down to try some things on. The interior is huge with an equally huge selection. You don't need to make an appointment (although they do offer that option, if you so desire), which might make you worry that you won't get any personalized service. Not true! We went on a Sunday, and the bridal section was pretty lively, but we were approached right away by a friendly assistant who set up a fitting room for me. I showed her the style I wanted, and she immediately pulled a dress with a near identical cut for me to try on. She also pulled some other dresses that she thought I might like. In the meantime, my team and I were allowed to browse and pull dresses at our leisure--something you can't do at many bridal boutiques! Most dresses had a photo attached to them so you could get an idea of what they looked like on a human body. The prices ranged from absolute steals in the clearance section to pricier couture designs. After grabbing a bunch of dresses, I started trying them on. The assistant was always there to help lace me up, clip me, swap out dresses, whatever. It was so much fun to walk out of the fitting room, stand up on the pedestal surrounded by mirrors, and listen to everyone "ooo" and "aaah!" I imagine it's great fun for everyone watching, too! One girl started crying when she saw herself in a certain dress. An assistant was right there with tissues. I never felt any pressure at all to buy anything--in fact, my assistant suggested that I just try tons of stuff on just to see what I liked, and even suggested checking other stores before making a decision. Sincerity like that never goes unappreciated. To make an already long story short, I decided to order the dress I had in mind from the beginning, because the similar one I tried on looked smashing and wowed the crowd. After that, we decided to look at bridesmaids dresses. Less than 20 minutes later, we found one that everyone liked, and ordered those. BAM, a wedding dress and all bridesmaids' dresses chosen and ordered in one go! How's that for efficiency? I'll post an update when my dress comes in and tell you all how the first fitting goes. This was an unexpected find by my fiancee when she took me for tuxedo rental. While the sizes on display did not fit (as expected), the staff was very helpful in doing a full measurement and ensuring that I get to try on the fitted tuxedos during the next visit. I am painfully ignorant of the whole fancy-tux shopping experience, so I was glad that she walked us through the entire process and gave us some tips and advice. I found the dress! I went to a different wedding dress store before coming to party dress express and I'm so thankful I gave them a chance. My stylist, Briana, was amazing, so sweet and professional! She helped me pick out a great selection of dresses for me to try, assisted me into them and was so kind with complements. She was very patient with me when I couldn't decide between two dresses, she had me try on them a couple times so I made the right choice. She truly wanted me to find the perfect dress! She wasn't too pushy for me to buy the dress right away, which was my problem with the other store. It was a very comfortable and fun experience! Thank you, Briana!! read more

BRIDES AND BRIDESMAIDS BEWARE Company is disrespectful, disorganized, and disreputable. Sales associates are disinterested in their jobs, rush you along with little concern as to what you truly want. It's clear that they are not well versed in helping anyone who is bigger than a size 12. Forced myself and another bridesmaid to order dresses 6-8 sizes bigger than we normally wear. tried to convince the other bridesmaid to spend an additional $80 on extra fabric, "just in case". Showed zero empathy to the bridesmaid who was clearly upset with the situation. We received a group discount for ordering with the bridal party. When going to pay, was charged an additional $40 without the discount. When asking why, was informed that the "designer charges $40 extra for plus sized dresses." Claimed it was an "add on" and could not be discounted. Company has called the bride WEEKLY to update her on dress order statuses, despite bride having asked for communication to be delivered via email. Accepted an order and payment for a dress they no longer offer. Only to later call the bride instead of the bridesmaid to deliver the information. They are completely disorganized and inconsiderate. Highly recommend not shopping here for any event, but especially not for a wedding. read more

I went back to Party Dress Express to pick up my wedding dress and get a dress for my engagement photos and STILL LOVE THIS PLACE! Got 2 dresses (engagement shoot AND a rehearsal dinner dress!) at a GREAT price! They were having a sale off their already great prices so this was a score! The staff was as courteous and helpful as possible, which doesn't surprise me because they are great here! I highly recommend PDX :) read more
