I spotted this shop across the street from the restaurant, so we made a b-line for it to snag some an ice cream to enjoy before bed. The shop is very clean and well lit. They have everything you could want from a c-store, including a full selection of liquor. I spotted some harder to find bottles on the shelf but noted that the prices were 2-3x what you should expect to pay. That put a sour taste in my mouth. I know some people who have searched for these bottles for years to no avail, and seeing them sitting there at prices that are clearly gouging made me a little sad. As for the ice cream, they had all the typical novelty selections to choose from, and we settled on a brownie filled cone similar to a King Cone. No prices posted, but figured it couldn't be more than few bucks. Went up to the register and that's where it all went downhill for me. Not only was the price north of $3 (for a pre-made ice cream cone), they tacked on a .50 fee for using my card without even mentioning that was about to happen. $4 for this is terrible, but this practice makes it even worse.. If you've read some of my other reviews, you may know I HATE when a business does this to their customers. We are living in a nearly cashless society, and this practice is predatory and illegal in some places. The fee they tack on is almost always more than the one they pay the cc company to boot. Word to the wise... be prepared if you pop in here.

Staying at the OB Hotel, we remembered to bring plenty of booze, we forgot water. Off to Newport Farms just down the street on Newport. Four "cheap" bottles of water for $5. On the surface four for $5 sounds pretty good. Except that a couple days before, I bought 48 bottles for $5 at Vons. I wish I remembered to pack some! The next day we realized that we needed paper towels and four more bottles of water. Escaped for around $10. The price we pay for convenience, I guess. Guy at the register was friendly.

I received an email from Rivani on 7/1 claiming that they had been waiting on one bottle, and promised to ship the items on 7/2. Since then, they have gone completely radio silent and ignored any further attempts at communication. The package hasn't shipped, attempts at phone calls have been unsuccessful, and messages sent either through the website contact form or via email have been ignored. So now I'm having to go through the hassle of disputing the payment to get my money back. If you're local and can visit the store, it may be a completely different experience -- but if you're considering placing an online order for shipping, I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere...
