My daughter went from having never ridden a horse to being able to show in a year. More importantly, she made friends there because Tracy encourages a nurturing atmosphere. My daughter came out of her shell and has flourished here. As a rebuttal to the one negative post on this site, I have observed Tracy with students of all ages and backgrounds (note: we are not Caucasian) and there is not one ounce of bias from her towards anyone. Tracy is patient and kind, but is stern when the circumstance requires it. She is truly an empathetic and caring person, who is a consummate horseperson. All I have seen is what a great role model she is for the many kids that she teaches.

We decided on this venue back in early March, and I communicated with Cindy regularly all the way up to my wedding day. She always responded promptly and answered any questions I had (and there was a lot). She let me go look at the space as many times as I wanted to plan things out and take pictures, and during those months they were working to add things to make weddings there even more magical. Our wedding was the first they had there in many years, from what I understand, but you'd never know that based on how smoothly everything went and how easy communication was with them. The first ride was a 2-hour sunset ride with my sister and niece, and the second was the 4-hour Wranger Special all by myself, only 3 weeks later, because this place is just that fun! All ranches that offer horseback riding are not equal. I have been to a couple ranches where they simply run it like a machine with little to no respect, having horses ride constantly throughout the day with little rest. Knob Hill Ranch takes a different approach, and after sitting with Madeline and Michael for a length of time after my 2nd ride, I learned that Knob Hill is on a different level than most ranches you'll encounter. Horses at Knob Hill are treated with such compassion and care. A horse only rides once a day, and that alone was enough for me to know I can trust the way this ranch is ran. They have a deep respect, for not only the horses, but the land as well, and you will feel it as soon as you get there. There is something sacred under the lands surface, and it feels as though the ranch is operating in such a beautiful way, because they're mirroring the sacred beauty and elegance that lies beneath the soil. Oh, and it's worth mentioning, they host equine therapy on their land as well, along with sound baths for folks. I mean, this ranch is dabbling into all things that revolve around healing and cultivating a calm and peaceful environment. Once you experience it, how could you not want to go back?! And for me, it's a 6 hour drive each way, totally worth it. After reading this novel of a review, it is clear this ranch is operating with a deep heart-centered intention, so they're not surface level folks running a machine to make money. And, if you're tired of surface level conversations about sports and weather, like myself, these are the folks you can dive deep into conversation with about life, and leave the surface level topics behind. This past weekend's horseback riding trip was such a smooth and peaceful experience from start to…read morefinish. The staff was pleasant, welcoming, and made everything easy. Lauren, our trail leader, was amazing--very knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly experienced with both the riders and the horses. My horse was INDIGO. But all the horses were calm and not temperamental at all, which made the ride even more enjoyable and relaxing. I chose the early morning ride, and it was absolutely perfect. I had removed my flannel beforehand and wore only a sleeveless tee, which worked out great as the sun started to come up. Parking was very convenient, and I especially loved that this location is only about 20 minutes from my home in Canyon Springs. The trails through the Santa Ana Riverbed were lovely--peaceful, scenic, and exactly what I was hoping for. I will definitely be doing this again. It was such a better experience and value than driving all the way into the Los Angeles area for a ride. This gave me exactly what I wanted: a serene, beautiful morning on horseback in nature. The oak trees are a huge plus. There's actual shade here, not just a few patches, which makes a big difference in this area. If you hike out far enough you'll find old abandoned houses and structures, which is honestly one of the coolest parts. It gives the whole place a bit of history and something extra to explore. Also great for horseback riding and a solid spot to bring food and picnic without dealing with crowds. Simple, quiet, and worth going back to.

Lesson horses are cared for in same manner as private horses- and most are show quality for any circuit. Prices are very,very reasonable considering the quality of facility, horses and instructors. I am from up north where training like this is immensely expensive, and out of reach for most families. There is great trail access from the property, and the ranch quiet and serene, with a nice breeze not found in flatter parts of area during hot summer months. I highly recommend Showcase to anyone who is in need of boarding/training/lessons. They offer a great deal- $45 for one hour evaluation lesson on a school horse. Trust me, you will not find a better deal.
