We worked with several people from the Mitten Building and everyone we had contact with was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. Our wedding reception was originally scheduled for late March 2020. Less than two weeks before our event was to take place, we got the call that it would have to be postponed due to COVID-19. The staff was very apologetic and allowed us to take our time with rescheduling. We even rescheduled twice because of changing mandates/ lockdowns with no hassle or fees. We met again with staff the week before our rescheduled event in May 2021 and we were able to update our guest count and adjust our invoice because unfortunately, it had changed significantly. The building is so beautiful and perfect for wedding portraits. We booked the Summerbell room and patio for our wedding reception. At our original walk-through meeting we were given a voucher to dine at the Mitten. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to book a tasking. After that tasting, we knew we had to go with the Mitten Building for our catering as well. All of the food was high quality and absolutely delicious! On the day of our event, we were treated like royalty. Our onsite coordinator from the Mitten Building ensured that everything was exactly as we had planned, ran smoothly, and took great care of us. I had the utmost confidence in them and was able to relax and enjoy the last month before my wedding, which can be a stressful time. My wedding consisted of a beautiful venue in Joshua Tree that was minimal with amenities/services included, so I had to hire just about everyone - food, cake, rentals, dj, servers, bartenders, flowers, etc! Cross + Swan did an excellent job of coordinating all of the vendors and keeping them on schedule. I had numerous guests at my wedding come up to me and tell me that my planners were the stars that day, nailing every detail and keeping the wedding going at a good pace with the timeline and also keeping everyone happy & worry free. Jacqui was amazing with my vendors the day of the wedding & also made the most beautiful signage for an extra fee for me (welcome signs, seating chart, bar & cake menus). I will start this review off by saying…read morethat I photograph weddings, so having a gorgeous scenic spot to marry my boyfriend/fiancé of 11 years was the #1 on our list and The Pond (+ the overcast weather haha) DELIVERED. And the #2 thing on the list was having a variety of backdrops to photograph against which we also found here no question. We first toured The Pond and met with Bonnie (the owner) back in September 2022. We had already toured 5 other venues and this ended up being our second to last tour and last day of touring. The second I stepped on the premise I knew we had found our place. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, breathtaking, and well taken care of. The pond is also full of bright koi fish and other cute little friends like ducks walk around. I felt like we were already late in booking a 2023 date, but to our luck they had May 5, 2023 open which was also 11th anniversary! Easy and done. This hidden gem venue has charm and is the most unique and scenic venue I've ever been to. The main selling points for us in addition to the views were: 1. Full Bridal and Groom houses to relax and get ready in. We each had 8 bridesmaids and groomsmen + our family so it was very important to us that we could find a place that could accommodate our large party to get ready in. They also have separate parking for the wedding party right next to the Bridal/Groom houses and another larger parking lot for guests which is also free for them 2. Fun and unique areas for all of our guests to spread out and explore. Including the gazebo overlooking the pond, fire pit (for s'mores), and cove underneath the gazebo to experience a waterfall. There was also a ton of space for all our vendors to set up including a Boba Table and Photobooth 3. Affordable price that included 1 hour rehearsal the day before, 10 hours on the premise for the wedding, and our package also included the DJ and Bartender team. This was great because those vendors are already used to working with Bonnie's team and DJ Richie killed our lighting throughout the venue as well! They also set up heat lamps for us when it got colder at night 4. DIY everything! I have been looking forward to planning my wedding my whole life and had a lot of decoration and vendor ideas. Bonnie and our Coordinator team (YourDayYourWay) helped make all our ideas and plans come to life and were gracious about accommodating everything we asked for including keeping the sails down in the ceremony space for our photos, letting us do special cups for boba, and letting us choose our catering (5 Elementos Food Truck). The whole event was 100% customized by us and this was so cool since I know a lot of venues have strict rules they never bend. And for anyone who may be deterred reading this because they don't want to DIY everything, I promise the venue still looks great just as it is even without all the extra stuff. Seriously! 5. They allow sparkler exits! I gave them one star because you can't give zero stars…read more My husband and I got married back in Sept. 2009, and hired Bartendergirl.com to provide bartenders and ice for our event, upon the recommendation of our caterer and on a couple of (hard to find) reviews we read about them online. This company touts itself as being a part of the better business bureau, and they even have a little logo on their site that claims "We are 100% Reliable." Unfortunately, that was not our experience with them on our wedding. Here's a basic breakdown of what happened: -They arrived late (they charge by the hour). They said this was because of "traffic" -We did not get 2 bartenders as per our official contract. We got 1 bartender and 1 bar back (which is basically a bartender's helper/busser). We never asked for a bar back. -The ice delivery truck that they said would arrive separately from their bartenders did not come. The ice was instead, brought by the bartender/bar back in coolers...this totally caused confusion and miscommunication with the event planner and caterer. To their credit, they still brought the ice... -They blamed my husband and I for not providing the proper supplies and ingredients to make the drinks we wanted to serve. (They gave us a shopping list a few weeeks prior, based on the menu we told them we wanted to have, and we followed that thing to a T...yet we were blamed for this). Despite all of the above, the wedding reception went off without a hitch, due to the wonderful and diligent efforts of our event planner and our caterer, both of whom pitched in to make up for Bartendergirl's shortcomings. The worst part of this whole ordeal came after the event. We contacted the owner of Bartendergirl to let them know what happened and to ask that they modify the charges they made to our credit card because they were in breach of the contract. They took such a defensive stance on the whole thing. Understandably, they conducted their "investigation" on their end of what took place on that day. They told us that they would have this investigation completed by a certain deadline, which they did not meet, and we still had the full amount of the charge still sitting on our credit card balance several weeks later. So, as all responsible consumers with spines would do, we contacted our credit card company and disputed the charge. Bartendergirl didn't like that we did this, and told us that we would be responsible for a "charge back" fee, which is a penalty that would have been placed on them by the credit card company. They also told us that we would be held liable for their attorney fees, etc if we had to take the matter to an official complaint level. My husband and I felt so threatened and intimidated by this, especially because we don't have a lot of money to blow on lawyers' fees (we barely even scraped by to put this wedding together). And besides... WHAT REPUTABLE COMPANY WOULD DO THAT TO A CUSTOMER?????!!! Especially when THEY were the ones that breached contract, and might have still tried to charge us for the full amount of services that they didn't provide if we never said anything. In the end, they eventually refunded us a small part of the balance. They still ended up charging us for the bar back, even though we never asked for one. Our caterer and event planner told us that they would never ever recommend Bartendergirl's services for any of their future clients ever again. And neither would we.
