I recall attending a Christmas dinner at my cousin's a few years back where someone brought Yule logs and found that they were from Elvin's Bakery (EB). I also did a search on EB's photo gallery and saw one posted so I gave them a call. Placing an order via telephone was literally a piece of cake. It was confirmed to a tee and was also advised their closing on Christmas Day so pick up would be on Christmas Eve. I made payment over the phone. All done. The Yule log was a hit at Christmas dinner where it was visually stunning and tasty. It was not overly sweet nor dry. Well executed and decorated beautifully. So why not 5-stars? Picking it up was a shocker when the Yule log was placed in a cake box that clearly was meant for a 1/2 sheet cake (?) size so you had to be extra careful when transporting and storing. There was no support nor fillers in the box for the quite empty box as the Yule log was not meant for the box provided. In closing, I'm grateful EB came through with an amazing dessert for our holiday dinner but was caught off guard with their boxing. I'll need to think twice about ordering a Yule log again from them and will definitely order earlier and seek the options on Oahu before deciding on where to go.
