Absolutely loved my wedding cake. I ordered the 2 tier, with coconut flavor for one tier and guava on the other. I asked for the Textured Buttercream with Antherium. The cake florals were perfect and cohesive with my tropical florals. Price was reasonable. My cake was delicious. Forever grateful for a this memory. Order process was easy and smooth. I opted for delivery to our reception venue for stress free morning.
We absolutely loved working with A Cake Life for our wedding! Kristin and her team were amazing and so easy to work with from start to finish. We chose their LITE Package, and it was the perfect option for our intimate wedding. It gave our guests variety while still allowing us to have a beautiful cutting cake. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our guests couldn't stop talking about the desserts, and we loved that there was something for everyone. The cake shooters, panna cotta, and cupcakes were all a huge hit. Our mango cutting cake deserves a special mention because it was incredible! It was so fresh, and flavorful that I'm still dreaming about it today. Not only was it beautiful, but it tasted just as amazing as it looked. The ordering process was seamless, communication was great, and everything arrived exactly as planned. Thank you, Kristin and team, for making our wedding desserts so memorable!

I ordered the pre-designed fresh floral cake. The cake was well packaged and made it all the way to the North Shore in one piece. The birthday girl was ecstatic when she saw the cake. I had to go to work before celebrations started. I was told the yellow butter cake with layers of light whipped vanilla cream filling was delicious. It was the perfect size for a small gathering.

Got a custom cake here for a friends birthday. It was easy pickup, a tasty cake, and aesthetic! Taste itself was pretty solid, with nice a cream to it.

I loved the choices of flavors. Kristin was super easy to work with and everything we had was delicious!

The cake was so cute and adorable! Also delicious!! Thank you Kristen for your creativeness, professionalism, and overall kindness! it was a very Happy Shower!!!

So many better bakeries won't do it, as if no one is born or gets married in December. A Cake Life came through. Plain vanilla was preferred and the Classic White Cake fit the bill. There are a number of other flavors available. Ordering the smaller size (5-10), thought it would be a moderate sized layer cake. It was huge, so heavy, I weighed it, five and a half pounds! Many more servings than ten. Quality. The real buttercream icing was slathered on like buttering brick mortar, thick. Believe the cake had at least three pounds of butter. The cake layers tasted buttery, like homemade from scratch. Cost. Yes, it was pricey, but worth it. Looking through their photo gallery, there are other options, including sheet cakes, that may not be as massive and costly. One quibble, tried to convey that I wanted a holiday motif, red and green decoration. A simple Christmas tree piped across the top would have been fine. But couldn't get that across over the phone. Instead, they offered red, white and green floral decorations. Thought that meant flowers made of icing but turned out, they were real flowers and foliage. Not Christmassy at all, BUT classy. Location. Thought I knew where the bakery was. Stopped by there years ago, unsuccessfully seeking a ready made cake. They only make cakes to order. But this time, it didn't appear to be clearly marked. It's in the interior Makai-Ewa corner of the strip mall. Look for signs that say knock for deliveries. Think that's the kitchen door.

Kristen is a wonderful baker and I have tried her baked goodies for many years and it was so nice to see the array of desserts at this Valentines pop up downtown. The colorful cakes, cookies, layered puddings and candies are just so pretty and tasty. It's hard to not buy it all! I bought the cake pop, do it yourself cookies with edible icing, lilikoi layered pudding cake, Oreo layered pudding cake and mini cheesecake. The desserts are light but rich with flavor. You just can't stop at one bite. Service is friendly and helpful! Ambiance is bright and delightfully pretty! Dessert makes everything better! read more

I was lucky because the bakery already had the design I wanted for my daughter's cake. The process to place my order was easy and they got back to me right away for payment. The cake flavor was strawberries and cream, and it was absolutely delicious! Not only was my daughter happy about the design, she enjoyed the flavor of her cake. At first glance, you might be in a bit of sticker shock when you see the prices on the menu. However, the attention to detail and communication from this business is totally worth it. I have dealt with many businesses who are unresponsive or curt with their responses to inquiries, but this one was very quick to text back, very professional, and the appearance of the cake was just beautiful! I got my husband a birthday cake and he was so touched. He helped me pick it out and he loves flowers. His favorite flavor of anything is strawberry, so the strawberry filling was perfect. The roses and gold flecks were so perfectly crafted and the letters were gum paste which he enjoyed eating as well. I also got a sugar cookie which was very pretty and tasted ok. The cake bento was fun and I got to try a bunch of flavors. Top 2 were the devil's food with peanut butter and the red velvet with cream cheese. Pickup was super fast and easy, just text them and they came right out! Great service, great experience. read more

Our wedding cake & cupcakes were done beautifully & were delicious! However, I have to knock down 2 stars due to Kristin Kato's unprofessionalism during the process of ordering it. After carefully picking out the design & flavors of our cake & cupcake, I submitted an order request in October 2022. My then fiancé & I were out of state, & our parents kindly agreed to give her the moneys for the order on our behalf. I stated that the payment should be paid in full by the end of November 2022. Long story short - a slew of personal life events happened, & I was not notified that the payment was not received. My Aunt/Wedding Coordinator followed up in the beginning of January 2023. My cousins were meaning to add some surprises to my order as their wedding gift to us. However, Kristin was unfortunately snide in her replies. I understand that she never got the payment, but there was no form of follow up whatsoever until my Aunt inquired. After convincing Kristin to not increase the delivery fee (per website it's $50), we finally paid the invoice in full. So, "thanks" Kristin for not only being rude and incapable of decent communication, but also ruining the surprise. It's a shame knowing that you were so sweet & easy to work with in the beginning.Oh well, everyone was happy on our wedding day. For those of you reading my experience, I just want to clarify that I still recommend A Cake Life to cater your cake, cupcakes, & other sweets for your special event. However, I would not recommend doing business personally/directly with Kristin Kato. read more

Where do you go for someone special who has tried all the cake shops on the island? Upon the recommendation of a friend we decided to try this tiny shop located across Old Stadium Park opposite from Kozo Sushi. 5 stars for the cake which was a foot high? Nicely decorated enough, the cake itself was just the right texture and density. I'm not usually a huge fan of vanilla cake but the baker does such a good job that I ate it all up and wanted more. But my waistline advised me against it. The frosting was also good and again I'm not usually a fan but this one was smooth and not too sweet, nicely complementing the cake. We didn't order anything fancy, but looking at the website it looks like they do amazing decorations!! Not cheap but you get what you pay for! Quality! I want to minus half a star for lack of convenience but I guess it's owner operated so the hours are limited. I was instructed to pick up my cake at 9:00 sharp before the delivery guy left. Recommend this place if you want something special! Oops! We were rushing and I forgot to take a good photo of the cake ! read more

Kristin and her team did a great job with our daughter's Barbie cake. We're vacationing here in Oahu and wanted a cake to go with the party's theme. Contacting the bakery, choosing flavors (fresh strawberries in the filling is highly recommended), and scheduling delivery were all easy to do. The cake was spotless and tasted SO good. Family who usually do not eat cake loved it!! A huge testament to how well the bakery does cake. Would recommend A Cake Life to everyone on the island. read more

I still dream about our amazing wedding cake- a devil's food cake with cookies n cream frosting!! I swear I want to go back to Hawaii just to pick up a replica of this cake to devour! I visited Hawaii for my birthday and brought along 18 guests. I chose to have a small gathering just before the luau and wanted a tasty and pretty cake to celebrate. Cake works had the best reviews as well as the type of cakes that were aesthetically pleasing, so I gave them a chance. I'm SO glad I did!! The delivery was smooth and easy. The cake was well protected and remained in tact while we celebrated and sang. What a beautiful cake! WOW! Best of all, it was DELICIOUS!!! I ate my entire piece and eyed the half eaten cake next to me. I worked with Kristin who was always clear, asked clarifying questions and gave instructions at the drop off. She was professional and kind. THANK YOU for helping me create this experience for my family and friends. What's a party without the cake? We hired A Cake Life for the dessert at our wedding and it was the best decision!!! Initially I was only going to provide the dessert that came with our venue package, but I saw A Cake Life had a few different wedding dessert options and that they can deliver to our venue. We worked with Kristin who was so helpful in answering our questions and making sure everything was perfect. I could not be happier with how our dessert table came out and it was a huge hit with our guests! We went with cupcakes, donuts, and rice crispies and they were delicious! But my favorite was definitely our wedding cake. It was not only beautiful but tasted amazing! They really exceeded my expectations with the florals and overall design. I contacted A Cake Life approximately one month before the date of my good friend's wedding to order a custom wedding cake as a surprise. This company was very accommodating and very detailed in their response. I really appreciated that their initial email back anticipated all of my questions and provided links with photo examples of the different cakes provided. We ultimately choose a pre-designed cake but requested white dendrobiums as a flower accent and they were able to adjust the flowers as we requested. Cake itself was absolutely beautiful, just as pictured. The filling was light and true to the strawberry flavor. Remind me a little of the Asian fruitcakes that my friend and I grew up with and love. Our whole party was very satisfied with this cake. We did get the 8-in size and had leftovers for our 16-person group. If I ever needed a custom cake in the future in the Honolulu area, I would definitely reach out to A Cake Life! read more

A Cake Life provided our desert bar and wedding cake and we had all positive reviews from our guests! :) the deserts were delicious and presented just as we had discussed. Getting the customized desert bar was easy and stress-free (which was very helpful for the busy bride!). A Cake Life provided timely responses and a professional experience. Only thing keeping me from giving a 5-star review is that we dropped off a check to pay the down payment to them, but they initially forgot to cash it. Had to go down with a new one since the original had expired. But the staff was apologetic about it and we understand that it is a very busy time for wedding vendors. Other than this, our experience here was seamless and I would still recommend them to everyone! read more

Wanted a cake for my hub's Yakudoshi. I'm not a dessert person so am probably a pain since I don't understand cake/dessert talk. Kristin and Gina, and everyone else I may have had to deal with, were very patient with me and accommodating. Due to covid, didn't want a cake that was exposed to everyone else, and since we split the families into 2 different parties, couldn't have a half cut cake for the 2nd party. They made me a deer head topper, and then my last minute decision was to add on cake cups. Everyone was really impressed with the topper and loved the cake cups. I had some of chocolate cake one and it wasn't overly sweet, and was soft and I ate much more than anticipated. We have yet to bust into the deer head. Location was really convenient in that little food strip mall like place that has Kozo, Golden Eagle, Sweet Home (I think they are still there) and L&L. At normal times the parking lot gets crowded, but on a Saturday morning, it was very easy to get in and out. Excellent customer service, location, and product...I've found my new go to place for fancy cakes! read more
