Horrible! Don't waste your time with this office. I showed up to my appointment on time and was taken into the exam room at 2:30 pm (30 min after arriving). That was totally fine, since I had paperwork to fill out. What was absolutely ridiculous was the fact that I waited an entire hour in the exam room and even then the doctor still hadn't shown up! My appointment was at 2 pm and I still hadn't seen the doctor at 3:30 pm. I got up and left. This office has absolutely no respect for people's time and health. If they cared they'd do something about it and clearly I'm not the first one to comment on their incompetence. read more

I had a bad experience with Dr. Seltzer. He is expensive and I didn't feel like he cared about my long term health. I had a case of Acne when I went to see Dr. Seltzer and he put me on a treatment that partially cured my problem but for almost a year he had me take antibiotics and other medicines without testing for potential side effects. He never made me feel comfortable with the treatment and when I checked with another dermatologist they explained how bad it is to to take antibiotics for so long....additionally they provided a blood tests to find if any thing else was getting affected by the treatment. Additionally to this Dr. Seltzer insisted that he should take a look at my moles....he ended up taking a sample of one to make sure that it was not cancerous but he left a HUGE ugly scar on me...... I really don't recommend this doctor. read more

I had cut my finger badly in a kitchen cooking accident. After the cut I put bandages on it and thought it was okay but I discovered days later it had gotten weird and infected and there was still intense pain on the slightly chopped tip of my finger. Actually worse pain than earlier!. A trip to St Joe's Urgent Care helped get me out of some immediate trouble, but it was a few days later, when I made a trip to see Dr Seltzer on the recommendation of a friend, that I got excellent professional care which led to a successful healing of the problem. Dr Seltzer looked over my finger really well, did some additional cleaning and gave me at least a couple of topical medications and special bandaging, the type of which I didn't have. My finger improved pretty soon and was all better within a week, due to the Dr's treatment. He was also nice and considerate of my situation and concerns. read more

I was just thinking about our upcoming appointment, and this is another instance where I asked myself why I haven't written up Dr Seltzer my dermatologist, and Camille who does our photo facial treatments. Dr Seltzer is great. He's very easy going, knowledgeable and I trust him implicitly. Camille is an RN who has been doing my photo facials for nearly 20 years! Being a model, I used to get a lot of compliments on my smile, but after I began going to Camille to get my v-beam and Aurora treatments (they changed from using that machine and I don't remember the name), I'd get more compliments on my skin. It was kind of weird to be middle aged and suddenly have strangers and makeup artists tell me how great my skin looks. It took me a bit of time to understand the impact of the treatments, which I had initially started to fix the red skin I had due to roseacea. The treatments even out your skin tone. They shrink your pores. You look more refreshed. You look younger than people your age. I go twice a year now for maintenance because the results are really worth it to me. We live in the desert and there may (or may not) be someone out here with the same machinery, but I wouldn't trust them like I do Camille. Besides as I said, I have been coming here since at least the year 2000. It's my FACE and if it gets screwed up, my modeling career will tank! I trust Camille. If I ever have had any skin concerns/growths on my body, I see Dr Seltzer on the same day. After our appointments we get a bite to eat at a nearby eatery like Real Food Daily and head on back to the desert. See y'all soon! read more

Do not waste your time nor money coming here!! I have been coming here for 1.5 years and have not seen any improvement on my acne. I understand that its not necessarily the Dr fault but I have spent so much money on the medication and nothing. I told her that my hair is falling and I am starting to my hair thinning. She requested my blood work from my primary doctor (this happened 6 months ago) to see if my was nothing else causing the hair falling out. So why is it acceptable for you to make me wait 45 minutes past my appointment time to see you, 30 of which were spent naked in a paper gown, in an uncomfortable examination chair, in a cold room? Dr. Seltzer's staff are friendly and always willing to help. They are such a professional group. I've been seeing Camille, Dr. Seltzer's laser nurse, and she's absolutely amazing. I am currently getting hair removal, she makes things so fun and her personality is so lovely. She actually has so much personality it makes you so comfortable and puts your mind at ease. She also is an injectable nurse so ladies or even men if you need Botox or filler or just any injectable, she's your girl. I would like to first start off by stating that I have seen numerous dermatologists in LA, and I've seen some in other parts of the country. However, Dr. Seltzer is by far THE BEST I have ever encountered. And when I say "THE BEST I have ever encountered", I mean that he is such a good dermatologist that I made a special trip from the east coast to Los Angeles JUST to be treated by him!! I love Pasadena Dermatology! The first time I went in, the doctor was so sweet, she took a biopsy of a spot on my arm, answered all my questions, and made me feel so comfortable! After a couple of weeks I got the news that I had Melanoma! Yes, I did freak out, although Leo was the best, and really talked through it all with me, answered any and all questions, and continued to tell me they are there to answer any questions. I went back to have the surgery done, and it went great! After having the surgery, waiting a couple of weeks to get the stitches out and waiting about a month for the "after surgery & stitches patch" come off, the wound area looks fantastic! For whatever reason, yelp did not publish my last update--it also deleted Dr. Seltzer 's first somewhat hostile response to my first review. This update will be simple--my whole life changed the day that Dr. Seltzer cut me leaving a terrible raised scar on my upper arm. So, I should be resilient to scars--I am a bit older and not the most beautiful girl in the world, but I had smooth unblemished scar free skin. For whatever reason, the horrific scar that Dr. Seltzer left when he cut me without accurately describing the procedure and consequences has left me devastated--my confidence is low. I haven't been able to wear sleeveless shirts for since the procedure...I feel ashamed and depressed over the ugly scar on my arm. read more

While the wait in the office on the day of the appointment was long, once Dr. Kivett examined me and asked me a thorough set of questions, he immediately diagnosed the issue. I traveled a bit further to visit this dermatologist because I didn't have any dermatologists with a great review near my neighborhood, and this one was only a few freeway exits away. I would like to clarify that Robert was able to fix the issue I had with my skin. He fixed it exceptionally well. Thank you, Doctor. However, I am giving a 1 star review because my experience was poor. During my initial visit, I arrived 10 minutes early, however, I was not admitted into the examination room until 30 minutes after my appointment time. During the examination, the doctor spoke in a hurried manner. I'm not sure if that is just the way he speaks, but it communicated to me that he had other more pressing matters to attend to even though I was paying him for his services. I should note that he did at least take the time to make sure all my questions were answered. Robert took a sample of my skin and told me he will need to do a biopsy. He told me I should schedule another visit for 1 week. I visited again one week later. I didn't have to wait as long as my first visit. I waited about 10 minutes. No problem. In the examination room, the nurse and the assistant nurse told me the biopsy was negative. Okay, sounds good. A few minutes later, Robert walks into the examination room, looks at the spot where he took the skin sample for about 3 seconds (literally just a glance), then says something along these lines, "Okay, so now what we will be doing is a fully body examination." Excuse me? What in your right mind makes you think I will undress in front of you and your nurses? Also, the approach was so "used car salesman." You don't ask if a patient wants a full body examination because that gives leverage to the patient and opens you up for a possible rejection. Instead you phrase it as a command and hope the patient follows along however uneasy the patient might be. It's a typical telemarketing trick. Shame on you. I declined the extra service, and said my goodbyes and left. The meeting was no more than 5 minutes long. When I got my bill, I noticed they charged me the full amount for the second visit. Really? You could have told me my biopsy results over the phone and saved me $100. But you get me back into your office to upsell me on a full body examination, which I declined, and charge me $100 for a 5 minute visit. Right... I have more skin work I need to do, and we could have had such a great relationship. A full body examination may have also been a possibility once trust was built up over time. Unfortunately, there was too much short-term hussle, and the biopsy shows a 1 star review. read more

I'm really glad I found Dr. Seltzer. I went in thinking my nipple needed to be removed only to find out it was an ingrown hair. After relieving me of my worries, Dr. Seltzer looked me over and also treated me for some acne issues. Dr Seltzer had been my family dermatologist for the last 15 years. I cannot say enough about him professionally. Medically he is top notch and i trust completely that he is always on top of my health issues first. As far as injectables I would not trust anyone other than him or someone that has been trained by him to ever touch my face. He knows exactly how to make you look natural and at 58 between lasers and injectables has kept me from not having to have a face lift which i would never want to do. I trust his office so much that I now live in New York and fly back when I need a refill HAHA That said this last week Memorial day weekend I was in L.A. and the Doctor was completely booked. Camille his right hand man who has worked for him for many years and has given me laser treatments was also completely booked but was so nice to take her lunch time to do my injections. We ended up doing a nonsurgical face lift with all the bells and whistles and she did an amazing job!!! I am just thrilled!!!! Camille really took her time and is a natural she has a great eye and just nailed it. I know there are lots of places that advertise that they can do these procedures cheaper and are going to give you a great deal but it will end up showing on your face! I've had severe acne for several years (I'm currently 19 and in college with my acne starting in 7th grade of middle school). I have visited a few dermatologists before Dr. Seltezer, and all have prescribed topical medications. These only controlled the severity of my acne by a marginal degree, but the problem still persisted. Following my college finals, my acne reached an all time bad (my face was covered in large red zits, and it was getting quite painful). That was when I reached out to Dr. Seltzer. He had previously treated me for eczema as a child (or that is what my parents had told me) with amazing results. For my acne, he prescribed me with a variety of oral antibiotics and topical medications which greatly reduced my acne. He then moved onto Acutane and had me take that for the last six months. During this time period I have seen my acne fade away. My skin is now clear with some minor scaring, which is only to be expected (It will probably take some time before my skin can heal completely or before I can have my scars treated). The results of my treatment has been extremely satisfactory, and my discomfort has been minimal (very dry skin at times). Visits were short, professional, and often included facial peels, extractions, and shots. For this treatment, the cost was reasonable at $100 per visit (he did not take my insurance, Blue Shield). I would highly recommend Dr. Seltzer for acne, or any skin care for that matter. read more

I had psoriasis for few years and had treatment from another dermatologist but it never totally get rid of it. Lately it became a bit too much on my legs and I can't wear short anymore as people will stared at my leg. After finding doctor Robert from yelp by reading all the positive reviews,I make an appointment. Arrived on time and 5-10 mins I got to see doctor Robert. He look at it and say he gonna give me some shot. I say..whatttt...wait wait...he suggest the injection on the lesions will heal up the psoriasis faster. After a few ant bite needles poke, I am out of there. Doctor seem busy and no time to chat. 2 weeks with ointment and tropical cream, it heal a lot. I went back for second appointment and doctor again gave me a few more shot and I told him he missed a spot. Lol. Whatever he is doing, he is doing it right and I am so happy my psoriasis get a lot better now. Totally satisfied and definitely will refer friends to him. read more

I really didn't believe it at first, but Dr. Seltzer was telling me the truth when he said he would get me better. I used to spend hours reading reviews for acne medications, googling photos of celebrities with acne to make myself feel better, and would cry when I made it 10x worse by picking at them. If you are anything like I was, you need to see him. I used to get really sad after my dermatologist appointments because my yucky acne and scars weren't going away, and I was tired of empty promises from multiple doctors. I tried everything--Accutane, a gazillion prescriptions and topicals, birth control, cutting back on chocolate chip cookies, facials, weird light treatments, questionable Asian products... nothing worked and needless to say you probably never found me without makeup on. A lady at the gym with the most beautiful face ever told me about Dr. Seltzer... At this point I had half given up, but was half still really desperate. Even though I was skeptical, I would probably still be hiding behind my hair if I hadn't gone. Dr. Seltzer knows way too much and is an absolute gem about making you look your best. I became somewhat of an addict to visiting the office; because there was progress every week and I felt my skin becoming smoother and needing less and less cover up. I really can't describe how great it feels to touch my face and not have all the bumps and scabs on it, but all I know is that I should've seen him sooner. I also know what it's like to be frustrated when foundation looks so gross over your daily eruptions, or when you take selfies just to see how bad your face looks on camera. I had adult acne, it was getting worse and worse no matter what I tried. On top of that I broke out with a rash on my chest. I had it with skin conditions and decided to come see a professional. I paid cash and got free samples and a list of new face washes and moisturizers to use; also a hormone blocker. Everything was starting to look up. Then I had a bad reaction to one of the meds. I called the office and they got me in right away. Dr. Seltzer did not charge me for the visit gave me a prescription to fix the irritation on my face(chemical burn) He also gave me new samples of medication that would be easier on my skin. I was extremely happy with the service I received. My acne is gone, my rash was gone almost instantly and I couldn't be happier. read more

Dr. Seltzer is a cool guy, and willing to help. My skin has gotten decently better since I started visiting his office. The parking is somewhat inconvenient, and they do not validate. Sometimes there is street parking nearby, but usually only if you get there early. Appointments usually take about a week to make, which isn't an issue unless you're running out of meds. Usually, he will give you one refill if you call, but that's it. You need to be on top of how many pills you have left, and plan accordingly. As a mom that works and goes to school, this can be tough. Regardless, Dr. Seltzer is quick, but very knowledgable. He keeps up to date on medical journals, and is willing to listen to your needs! read more

The good doctor spends less than 5 minutes with me during multiple visits. I still get billed at full rate. Besides, the injections and expensive creams I was prescribed have not done much to eradicate a small patch of ecezma on my finger. In my estimation, it would take a full year of biweekly treatment for the recommended treatment to work. If you know it will be that lengthy of a process, be upfront about it. read more
