I consulted with some west side surgeons for a long-considered breast reduction before I found Dr. Min, and while they had good "ratings," I didn't get a good feeling. I've never had any kind of procedure before, so I was nervous. Dr. Min contacted me herself, and we spoke on the phone. Then, we had an in-person consultation, and I immediately felt comfortable. I can now say I've had plastic surgery. No, I didn't get implants the size of cantaloupe. Dr. Min removed a mole on my face that I've had since birth. I was intimidated by the thought of mole removal, so I did my yelp research on my referred physician. The one crazy yelp reviewer (only one until recently) really should not be yelping, because reading that freaked me out. The words that reviewer used are not ones I would ever ascribe to Dr. Min. Dr. Min has impeccable bedside manners. She is very friendly and kind. She is great about explaining her procedures to you and making sure you're comfortable. I was very nervous because my mommy wasn't there to hold my hand, but she and her surgical assistant made me feel as comfortable as possible. After the surgery, she explained the lab test results, confirming it was a good thing we removed it. She even gave me a copy, which I thought was nice and considerate. Dr. Min carefully explained scar treatments and gave me various recommendations to work with different budgets. She made sure that all of my questions were answered, and reassured her confidence in the outcome of the procedure ("Looks like it's healing nicely!"), which I am thankful for because I can't evaluate that sort of thing. Having a breast reduction was a much overdue decision for many reasons. I had so many concerns and fears when it came to the end result. I went through 14 pages of doctors and did my serious due diligence before deciding to set up my consult with Dr. Min. I have a PPO plan so she informed me they would contact the insurance to see if the procedure would be covered by my plan. In less than two weeks her assistant Virginia ( who is also wonderful and great at her job) called to inform me my insurance approved the procedure. During my pre-op appointment I got to chat with Dr. Min a bit more and her bedside manor was everything the other reviews said it was. She was calm, knowledgeable, comforting and patient. She answered every question I had and set my mind at ease even in my anxious state. On the day of the surgery her disposition did not change. As nervous as I was I felt comfort knowing she would be the woman performing my surgery. 5 days after my surgery I went in for my follow up and the big reveal. Seeing them for the first time I felt such relief! The shape, size and symmetry were all impeccable. Even with bruising and tape on I could see she had done an incredible job. As a patient of Health Care Partners, I was referred to Dr. Caroline Min due to a skin cancer on my foot that needed a special touch. I was amazed at how she was able to remove the cancer and repair the top of my foot with no evidence of her being there. When I lost 30 pounds after turning 44, my breasts no longer were perky..to say the least. The stretch marks from my youth and from gaining weight after I turned 40 were embarrassing and my breasts looked like I had breast fed numerous children, although I had not. They needed a lift and I was also hoping to have some of the stretch marks not be as evident. I looked around, read reviews, and got some estimates and thoughts on what my breasts would require. At another plastic surgeon, I felt intimidated and demeaned as I was looked over and told of the poor condition of my breasts ("scoopy" C) and that I should increase their size. Dr. Min did not make me feel like this in any way. Not only is she an incredibly gifted plastic surgeon, she is humble and kind. She made me feel cared for, listened to, and respected; I signed up for surgery without even leaving the office. I didn't need to look or think any further. On the day of surgery she was on time, detailed in her plan, compassionate, and professional. Her intelligence was evident and she made me feel calm due to the trust I felt in her abilities. My family was also taken with her as they waited for me and she explained to them what I would need over the next couple of weeks. It has been a little over a year now and I am delighted with the results. My breasts are perky and the stretch marks have been decreased dramatically!! My breasts are what I always wanted and I feel blessed that Dr. Min was able to fix the problem I have lived with since my teenage years. I will continue to see Dr. Min for all of my future health and cosmetic needs. She is honest about her services and she will not try to sell you something that you do not need. I went in for Botox and was willing to pay for this, but she told me about Dysport, which was less expensive. It works just great for me and I will continue to see her for this. For the past 20 years I had been living with badly disfigured ears. It took a toll on my psyche, as people often looked at my ears, pointed at them, asked "what happened?", and sometimes made jokes. Several months ago I decided to investigate the idea of a lower face and neck lift -- something I never imagined myself doing. But as time has gone on, I'd begun to feel an increasing disconnect between the relatively youthful person I felt myself to be inside and the aging face I was seeing in the mirror. I interviewed two plastic surgeons and was impressed by both, and both had excellent ratings on Yelp. I took a couple of months to sit with the idea -- and finally decided to do it. In part I came to that decision because Caroline Min is a very unassuming doctor, completely at ease with herself which put me at ease with the idea. The first thing she said when we met was, "Gee, you actually look good for your age." No exactly a hard sell. After interviewing with the second surgeon, I went back for a follow-up with Dr. Min and asked about two small procedures the other surgeon had suggested in addition to a basic face and neck lift. Caroline pushed and pulled my face and ended up saying she didn't really think I needed them. Dr. Min's fees, which were lower than the other surgeon's, included an overnight stay at an aftercare facility with round-the-clock nursing immediately following the procedure, something not provided by the other surgeon's office. I booked the surgery, paid some upfront fees and the pre-op consultation with Dr. Min was again very low-key and reassuring. I was given paperwork outlining exactly what would happen almost hour-by-hour along with a list of things to expect during the month-long recovery period. The personnel at the Arcadia Outpatient Surgery Center were brisk, efficient and friendly. Caroline came by to write on my face (she'll explain that to you) and then before I knew it I was in recovery. I felt swelled and numb but in no pain. The aftercare facility where Dr. Min's patients usually spend the night did not have an opening, so instead they arranged two shifts of private duty nursing at my own home, for about the same fee. I actually preferred that -- sleeping propped up in my own bed, with my wife and teenage daughter there with me. My daughter was afraid to come into my bedroom at first fearing she wouldn't recognize me. Finally she did -- and was relieved. "You look like a Conehead, but you're still my Dad." I was afraid myself to look in the mirror on my first (assisted) trip to the bathroom that night, but when I finally did look, I thought I resembled more a Teletubby. Nothing to do with Dr. Min's work -- it's this elaborate wrapping around the head to help with the initial recovery. When Dr. Min finally took that off and held a mirror up for me -- I thought, "Wow." Gone were all the heavy lines around my mouth, the developing turkey neck, even some cross-hatching below my eyes which I've had for years. Two weeks out I'm still numb around the ears. But there's been very little pain (Dr. Min prescribed a pain killer just in case), just the kind of weird discomfort you'd expect from a healing face. I remained home until the stitches came out after a week, not wanting to scare little children on the street. But I was up and moving around the house comfortably by the second day. This past weekend -- 12 days out -- I had to take my daughter's cello to the violin shop for a minor fix. The 20-something clerk hesitated, then asked if I minded telling him what happened to me (the sutures are sill very noticeable. So I confessed to my first stranger than I'd had a face lift -- and that I would be 70 in a few days. He just stared and shook his head in wonder. "You could pass for your 40s" he said.
