I came in for a routine skin check and was pleasantly surprised to see they also offer Botox, which made it so convenient to get everything done in one place. This is the worst doctor's office I've ever encountered. Dr. Chan is great. The problem is she's rarely available so you get stuck relying on her more junior colleagues and staff. I had (and still have) a painful skin condition. On July 24 I had an appointment with Dr. Eddie Dovigi, one of Dr. Chan's junior colleagues. He diagnosed it and said he would send a drug prescription to my pharmacy. For reasons nobody has explained to me, Dr. Dovigi sent the wrong prescription to my pharmacy (for an OTC product for a different condition - not surprisingly it didn't work). The next morning I called and texted the office to inform them of the problem. Nobody responded. Over the last few weeks I have called the office repeatedly to follow up. Half the time nobody answers and half the time I get stuck leaving a message with a receptionist who won't let me talk to a doctor or nurse but "promises" someone will call me back. Nobody has ever called me back. I was so frustrated I even drove out to their office on a Saturday morning (when they claim to be open) to try to talk to a live human being but of course they were closed. What kind of a doctor's office doesn't call a patient back? What kind of a doctor's office doesn't care that their patient is in pain for three weeks (and counting) due to their mistake? Dr. Dovigi is either too busy/indifferent to spend 5 minutes to give me a phone call, or his office is so poorly managed that nobody has told him about my complaints. Either way it's disgraceful. I had a similar experience with the same office a few years ago. It took weeks of (mostly unanswered) follow-up phone calls to get a simple prescription, because a nurse had screwed up. Their customer service is atrocious. Intentionally or not, the doctors are violating their professional oaths. It's no excuse for them to repeatedly blame their subordinates. I'm not some nutjob. This is the only negative Yelp review I've ever written. Stay away from this business, it's awful. You won't be able to get an appointment with Dr. Chan, and then her colleagues literally will do harm to your physical and mental health. read more

Wow! I'm 55 and have never even had a facial, so I was nervous about needles in my face and about whether I would still look like myself. The thing is, when I looked in the mirror, the face I saw didn't look like me anymore - I looked like some tired, old version of myself. Dr. Chan recommended Botox and fillers. She explained everything she was doing, checked in throughout the procedure to make sure I was comfortable, and did a fantastic job. The result is natural looking, but a huge improvement - everyone in my life tells me I look great, but no one asks if I had anything "done"! Avoid this place at all costs. You will not be able to see a doctor--they serve as a front for physician's assistants that you will be forced to see. The PA do not take good notes and are forgetful, and I had to remind them several times of key points to avoid medical errors. The front staff struggles to properly enter payments and are disorganized. You will receive bills long after the services. They try to upsell you on expensive products that you can easily get at Walgreens, like face cleansers and sunblock. This office is mainly here to sell products, not so much to practice dermatology. I know she tends to get good reviews, but those are probably for people who are wealthy and who need a cosmetic doctor. But if you have regular health insurance and you want to see her for a skin condition, she is snotty and dismissive. For something as simple as removing a mole, she will not do it. Regardless if insurance has approved it. That also includes skin tags. I've heard her gossiping about me ( clothing, crappy insurance, etc. ) and other patients. I'm not sure why she thought I couldn't hear her, she was right outside the door. She tends to be extremely moody, especially after lunch. A person that worked with her at the time told me that it would be "best to see her in the morning because she's a good doctor, but she tends to fast and only drink coffee." Well, that explains her mood swings. Additionally, I had pre-cancerous marks in a few areas. They were removed. one of areas became swollen highly infected, and I tried to call her Office over and over for a few days, but never received a call back from the doctor or from her nurse. Eventually, I had to go to the hospital and was told I had a severe infection. Another experience was when She tried to tell me that insurance wouldn't cover something and suggested I pay for it. I did and I found out she overcharged me. how do I know? She walked in with a male, he was listening to her, and he was never introduced to me. Shortly, after, he said ," you're gonna pay this ______",Then Dr Chan looked at him strangely and replied"shh " to him. Later, I knew a few people who had gone to her. I asked them what they paid, it was nowhere near the amount I paid. she charged me quadruple the cost. I'm not sure why she did that. I've never gotten into an argument with her. I never had been rude. What I do know is that she is rude, biased, moody, tends not to call if you leave a message, and took advantage of me by charging me too much. Just to let you know, I also called other doctors and asked them for their pricing in that area, they also gave me a smaller estimate than what I paid. read more

I've been seeing the NP, Sharonda Longino for a little while now. I started with keloid scar treatment and then decided to have the Lumecca IPL. I'm so glad I did it! It reset my skin and got rid of decades of sun spots! Sharonda and her team were great. Very informative, answered all my questions and gave lots of care during, before and after my treatment. 2 stars - "Could've been better." I feel like I got bait and switched. I came in with a small benign skin growth on my nose, already evaluated by my Kaiser derm. I told Dynasty Dermatology over the phone the medical term for it and I'd like to consult for removal as a self-pay and asked for cash pricing. I was quoted ~$160 for the consultation and up to $300 per spot for removal. At the appointment, I casually mentioned acne when asked if I had other concerns. When Dr. Liu arrived, she focused almost entirely on my acne, quickly prescribing a topical and recommending a 6-week follow-up. I clarified that my primary reason for the visit was the growth on my nose, not acne, as stated over the phone. She didn't seem aware and it sounded like lack of communication between front desk and the doctor. She examined my spot and said it was benign--same info I had already received--and that was it. When I asked about removal, she said I'd need to see another cosmetic derm in their clinic and wasn't sure if I'd need to pay another fee. She did say it wouldn't be scarless and went to explain I shouldn't trust when a place that would guarantee it's truly scarless. At this point I was confused. I made this appointment with the intention of removing the bump and expected to be seen by the cosmetic derm, but why was I scheduled with Dr. Liu who isn't a cosmetic dermatologist? I was frustrated and ready to leave. I didn't connect with Dr. Liu's communication style--she often interrupted and seemed condescending. On the bright side, her assistant was excellent: professional, clear, and respectful. Most importantly, she let me finish my questions before answering. At checkout, I was charged $275. I was surprised, as I recalled being quoted $160. The front desk insisted they gave me a range of $150-$275 over the phone, not $160 which I did not remember being the case. They also couldn't clearly explain how the amount was broken down, saying it was "up to the doctor." When probed further, the manager said it could be $250 for the nose and and the rest for acne, she doesn't know. It felt like they were making things up on the spot to get rid of me. Only when I asked for the CPT code they used for billing insurance did they clarify I was charged as a flat new patient fee. I would've appreciated full transparency up front, especially as a self-pay patient. It makes sense to me there's only one price for self pay new patient but confusing why over the phone they insisted they gave a range. Had they they been upfront over the phone, I would have chosen a different specialist at that price point. I felt like I got scammed. Overall, the experience felt disorganized, impersonal, and non transparent. I won't be returning. ------------------------------------- Edit: Thanks for the call, Dr. Chan. I ultimately decided not to call back because any resolution would likely require me to revise my review--which wouldn't feel authentic. When you reviewed my recording, did you gather that I was there solely for a removal consult? I mentioned several times that I have my own dermatologist and was self-pay. So to your point: the fact that merely mentioning acne triggered a $275 consultation fee is exactly my issue. I wasn't seeking acne advice or treatment--I already have a provider for that. To put it simply, I didn't need or ask for a consultation beyond the removal. And if discussing acne was going to change the nature and price of the visit, I wish I had been informed in the moment. It's a matter of transparency and setting expectations. Even at Chipotle, they tell you guac is extra. It's $3, and they still make sure you know. That's the kind of clear communication I expected--and didn't receive--at your office. I believe better training around disclosures would go a long way. read more

Dr Chan is fantastic, both clinically and in bedside manner! I have a complicated medical background and had a very unique and serious issue involving a large area down to subcutaneous fat. She coordinated well with my Primary Care Physician, and over the course of a year was able to get my SQ injury resolved. I see her every 6 months for routine skin checks as I have a family history of melanoma, and she is very thorough. I trust her judgment and my health 100%. Took my daughter here to treat her molluscum and the nurse practitioner Jenny Cheng was overly aggressive causing bigger burns on her skin and even burning her in an area that didn't need treatment. I have left a message with a receptionist and emailed for a follow up and they have failed to do both. Now my daughter is left with dark scars all around her thighs thanks her negligence! You would think they would be more careful with children let alone being a dermatology facility. Update: 10/19 No thank you. You finally reached out because I've mentioned your practice on a public form? No callbacks or returns when I did it through email privately or call the office directly? That speaks volumes about your practice in general. Instead of acknowledging our experience , you bring up her level of experience as if that makes it ok? It makes the fact of the matter worse. I was waiting to post until the results had settled in, but I had two subscision treatments for a collapsed pore on my face. The staff are warm and clearly communicate what they're doing and why, and the treatment itself is swift and painless. Joanna and her team offered a full range of treatment plans (fix it immediately with fillers, wait to see results) and we ultimately got such a strong improvement from two treatments that I didn't need to come in for a third. I saw this facility this morning and I am so impressed . I thought I had an appointment and I was wrong but they got me in immediately with the NP Jennie who was awesome and found areas of concern I never even thought was an issue . She explained the biopsy and procedure for waiting for the Mohs procedure as I was anxious wanting to get on the schedule next week for the cancer on my cheek . Isabella the med assistant who signed me in was outstanding as I began asking tons of questions and she was so professional, kind and respectful but mostly made me have 100 % confidence in these doctors that I had not reviewed yet on yelp. I had the Lumecca procedure done by Dr. Joanna Chan to remove some stubborn dark spots; it took only one treatment for me to see results! Even though Lumecca is specifically used for dark spots, for some reasons, my face was more plumb after the procedure and my friends & coworkers all commented that my skin was glowing! Oh did I mention I am 47 years old?!!! The procedure wasn't that painful because they numb your face first, and the actual procedure took about 15 mins. I am very happy with my results and will definitely return to Dr. Chan for maintenance. It is important for me to find a reputable dermatologist to take care of my needs because I am a cancer survivor. Anything I do or take can't interact with my medication. It is surprising that Dr. Chan isn't aware or doesn't understand the impact that the front staff have on her clientele. I wanted to book an appointment with Dr. Chan's clinic because of all the glowing reviews. However, since I was told that Dr. Chan no longer sees new patients, I scheduled to see Dr. Annie Liu (which is listed as part of Dr. Chan's Dynasty Dermatology). Either Dr. Chan and her Dynasty Dermatology practice has serious branding confusions or it's deliberately engaging in some bait-and-switch maneuvers because the clinic that I ended up seeing was Huntington Dermatology Medical Group. If you look at the reviews for Huntington Dermatology, it's BAD (as of 7/2024, it's 3.4 on Yelp, and 2.8 on Google). I can say after my visit today, I agree with a lot of the comments I saw on the negative reviews. I was charged $225 (out of pocket) for a (less than) 20 minute consultation. Though Dr. Liu was nice, everything seemed super rushed. I have some hyper-pigmentation and after looking at it for 3 seconds and asking when the issue started, Dr. Liu said it's not something that can be determined without taking a biopsy. While I understand that might very well be the case and maybe she just did not have any idea, I felt that it was a very superficial examination. I guess I expected that she could provide some theories as to what it could be...or maybe taking a closer look. It was extremely disappointing, especially given that they charged $225 for...nothing. The clinic itself is outdated and everywhere you look, there's ads for cosmetic procedures (fillers, facials, etc.). This is the first dermatologist I have been to in the US so I'm not sure if they're all like this but I expected a more clinical/sterile environment with posters or information on how to prevent skin cancer and other skin issues...you know, serious stuff. This place is more like a medical spa (without the spa aesthetic). In all, the experience just left me feeling like all this place cares about is money. If you are interested in getting fillers or cosmetic procedures, it might be a good match for you. But if you're interested in getting to the root cause of a skin issue or learning how to prevent future issues, go to a clinic that actually cares. read more
