Had a fabulous experience at the Pasadena location removing skin tags with Maria Trinh PA and assistant Maria. I have zero pain tolerance and told her that and Maria was very patient with me...took her time explaining everything step by step. During the procedure she kept checking with Me if I was ok , if I needed a break. She also gave me a ball to squeeze prior to starting. Very very happy with the service. I needed a dermatologist and the first place I called didn't have an opening until April. Dr Shipman was next on my list and was able to see me in two days. I guess it was fate because it turns out he specializes in the treatment I needed. I'm familiar with the building because my endocrinologist was located here. The waiting room is spacious and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. The nurse that assisted was very personable. Dr Shipman was fantastic. He has a likeable personality and I appreciate that he took the time to thoroughly explain things to me, showed me examples, and provided information so I could do more research. He performed a punch biopsy, which was very unpleasant, but he and the nurse did their best to make me as comfortable as possible. Now I wait for the test results and the treatment plan. Don't get fillers here! They don't know what they are doing and just want your $$$! I have waited to post this negative review as I typically don't post reviews and hate to post this, but I want others to know what I experienced at Skin and Beauty Center in Pasadena. I've been using Botox and fillers for years, elsewhere. I told them my concerns (nasolabial folds and lines around my mouth-- treated with filler by other practitioners as well as the lines needing Botox). They gave me a treatment plan along with the cost. After I paid for it and was very unhappy with the results after spending thousands of $ on Botox and filler, Dr. Shipman agreed the results were not as expected and could see why I was not happy. He said I would need to purchase even more filler to get better results and more Botox. If I had known in advance that the treatment plan was just a STARTING POINT and could potentially COST ME THOUSANDS MORE to get satisfactory results, I would have left right then and gone somewhere more knowlegeable, expereinced and priced less. Along with not knowing how much product I would potentially need, the nurse said Dr. Shipman should have used a different filler around my lips, as what he used was too thick and left me with uneven and bumpy areas around my lips and pretty much eliminated my top lip line (lipstick/gloss does not have a lip boarder now so it now bleeds off my lips.). After several conversations with the office manager, who emphasised my situation would be treated as a "learning experience" for Dr. Shipman and said she wanted to make me happy and a consultation with the nurse, they gave me a little more botox at no charge and suggested I purchase more filler and/or have at least 3 sessions (may need more) of laser treatment to a small area of my face (They later decided it wouldn't work). I explained I already spent a lot of money and did not want to spend any more. They said they could not refund my money or give me more filler because they had to pay for it (therefore, I would have to pay for it). They did offer to try to dissolve some of the filler around my lips at no charge. But said it was tricky! So pay for the filler, then have it removed with unpredictable results and still have to pay for it! So I am very unhappy and out thousands of dollars! I have since gone to a different doctor who knows what he's doing and got much better results for much less $! He said I should have asked for my money back. He said he would have refunded my money if my results were this poor. I told him I tried but they would not do anything. read more

I recently had a photofacial by her and my skin has never looked so nice... I'm thrilled with the results. I've had unpleasant experiences with various lasers before (with other practitioners) and she assured me this wouldn't be that way, and she delivered on her promise. Excellent service people! I was referred here by my primary care physician. From the moment I called in, I was treated exceptionally well, respectfully and caring. I was set up with a male Dr. But asked if I could have a female Dr. And was accommodated immediately to my wishes. Medical background info was taken over the phone, I was referred to their patient portal. Check-in was completed there. Walked in, was taken in, everyone was so efficient and kind. This is not healthcare. They are businessmen. Had an emergency and went to urgent care on Sunday to have it checked out. After the super helpful urgent care staff called 16 places that wouldn't take my insurance, I called my insurance directly and was given this contact. I got a referral from my Urgent Care doctor and called them the same day. They set up an appointment for me here, after taking down my insurance and assuring me it was good and to come in on Wednesday, the day before thanksgiving. This morning, Wednesday, I get a call saying they will not accept my insurance and I have to pay out of pocket. They also tried to sell me skin care products when I called to set up the appointment. I am now in need of medical care the day before Thanksgiving and have nowhere to go. I assume they cancelled my appointment so they could go home early. I will be taking this to any and all authorities. Disgusting. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Joseph Del Priore at Skin & Beauty Center Pasadena. I went in to have a small 5mm cyst removed from my neck. The doctor used scissors and assured me that the scar would be minimal. However, I was shocked to end up with a visible 2cm big scar right on the front of my neck. The technique felt outdated--like something from the 1980s. In Asia, doctors now use minimally invasive methods and advanced tools that avoid such unnecessary scarring. I can't believe such an old-fashioned approach is still being used here. If you care about aesthetics or modern techniques, I would not recommend this clinic. read more

I have been visiting Dr Shipman for about half a year now for monthly laser hair removal. Dr Shipman and his assistant Laura were both extremely helpful and caring throughout the process. I am a patient who asks a LOT of questions, and I don't like proceeding with procedures if I have doubts, and both Dr Shipman and Laura were very patient and I feel they took good care of me. I especially appreciate how Dr Shipman uses the very highest laser setting I can tolerate so that i can have the fastest results possible and less treatments overall. I could imagine different providers might use a lower setting to make the process take longer and make more money, but Dr Shipman and his team clearly have my satisfaction as their highest priority. I also visited Dr Qaseem about a scalp issue and she was friendly and knowledgeable, again making sure all my questions were answered and made me felt I received the highest level of care. I've had a horrible experience with the skin and beauty center of Pasadena. Every time I've tried to speak to the office. I get redirected to an offshore call center, who tells me that I need to call the front office but does not have their phone number. I made my first appointment on the phone and when I showed up, I was told I did not have an appointment, but yeah, all of my insurance information was already saved in their system. They were able to "squeeze me in". The doctor asked me to schedule a follow up appointment and when they called to confirm it, I told him that I would not be able to make it in. Somehow my appointment was never canceled and then I was billed a $50 no-show fee. They have been sending statements to my house for months and I've been unable to reach anyone. They are now threatening to send me to collections. This has been a terrible experience all around, so I would not recommend them read more

Dr. Shipman cured my three year old daughter! After seeing multiple dermatologmists for a skin issue, we were not satisfied and got a recommendation to see Dr. Shipman. He started her on a treatment that the other doctors didn't even mention and his treatment cured her. After just one treatment, it was essentially gone. I am sad to write this because I really liked the doctor prior to this experience. I had a very disappointing experience at Skin and Beauty Center. Jayna was dishonest and attempted to overcharge me it felt like a huge scam. When I tried to bring my concerns to Dr. Quaseem, she brushed them off and seemed unconcerned, as long as Jayna was bringing in money. The young man assisting the doctor was also rude and unprofessional. The entire visit felt unethical, especially when Jayna crumpled my paperwork and threw it away in the trash can right in front of me. I expected much better treatment as a loyal customer, and I will probably not be returning. Also will let my coworkers know about this experience so they don't have to go through this.
