Mark came by our home to inspect our attic because we weren't getting any air flow in 2 of our rooms. Upon inspection, he discovered that the main trunk which feeds a wye to the living room and dining room had fallen off completely. He reattached the duct and secured it properly. He also recommended that we use a different kind of air filter for better airflow. This guy was a hard worker, honest and wasn't trying to sell me any extras like some of the technicians we've hired before from other companies. read more

We had our gas furnace/air handler replaced. The salesman did not pressure us at all to upgrade the AC condenser until it was needed. The office staff was receptive and helped us schedule a time that worked for us. ON install day the technician showed up on time and was VERY personable, polie, and professional. Our original wiring was not "wrong" but somewhat out of the ordinary. Our technican called supervisor out to give a second check and was here in minutes. This is an advantage of hiring a truly local company with local people doing the work. The job was done way faster than we expected and the work area was put back cleaner than found. One notable item is the technician both seemed genuinely happy and happy with the work they were doing and the company they work for. Do you know why Paso Robles Heating and Air is only getting one star? Well, it's not because I know how their service or maintenance is, because THEY HAVEN'T TAKEN THE TIME TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE FOR A MINI-SPLIT HEAT PUMP, EVEN AFTER CALLING THE COMPANY MORE THAN ONCE! The unapologetic receptionist or office clerk (I know her name but don't believe in publicly bad mouthing individuals) keeps on providing excuses why the tech or whomever hasn't taken the time to give one. Listen, I've worked in customer service in many of my jobs, yet I always took the time to reply to a customer, even if it's just to provide an update or status. But this company doesn't seem to care. Why not? A tech did come out to my house and said he was going to provide an estimate, but has yet to do so, a MONTH after his visit. I understand being busy I mean, who isn't anymore? But at LEAST contact me, or have an office person do so and let me know that hey, I'm sorry about the delay and we value your business, etc. ANYTHING to give the impression of caring. I've read the reviews on Yelp for this company and I see a lot of positive results. Good for them. But if I can't even get them to care and reply or take some initiative to keep in contact, how can I even know if they're any good? Pathetic. ********** ***UPDATE!!! 8/3/2018***- Guess what? I contacted this place AGAIN about a week ago to give them one more chance to provide an estimate for a mini-split pump and they said they would get right on it (I think his name was Don or Bill?) and they STILL have yet to provide one. We had an issue with troubleshooting our heater and the misdiagnosis of what the tech thought was the problem. Five phone calls later and after learning that the tech had no notes of the visit, we finally got a second appointment. I spoke with the service manager about my frustration..... We found Paso Robles Heating and Air through Costco. I almost ignored them since I wasn't especially excited by Lennox as a brand (expensive and proprietary) but decided one more quote couldn't hurt (I ended up with quotes from four local businesses). PRHA ended up being very competitive on price. We also got an additional discount through Costco. Perhaps most importantly, the salesperson was prompt and followed through (despite some communication breakdowns because of a bad email address). The installation crew was polite, professional, and got the job done in a timely manner. The new HVAC system is up and running. I watched much of the installation process and poked around after to double check, and I was impressed PRHA took many of the small steps that other bidders had suggested were so important (and justifying their higher bids?). For example, enlarging the inlet and one of the main outlets for the system. Would do business with them again. read more

I can't say enough about Paso Robles Heating & Air. We lost power at our house for a few days after a heavy storm knocked over a tree, taking out some power lines. I had the idea of using a generator to power our heating unit, but needed some help. Called Paso heating and air who connected me with Danny (I believe that was his name). First he explained all the potential issues with doing this as the circuit board go fry and would void our warranty. After establishing that I had an inverter generator and not a conventional one, and also placing a APC Battery backup/Line conditioner in between the generator and my board, I was able to get it to work. In the end, Danny probably spent 1.5 hours with me on the phone trying to figure everything out on a Saturday. I was beyond thankful, and will never look elsewhere for any heating and air needs. Our HVAC system was 37 years old, the old plastic ducting was falling apart and then it finally quit. It became clear the whole system needed to be replaced. Don Nickols from Paso Robles Heating and Air came out to survey the situation. I was very impressed with his knowledge of this industry. He gave us several options to consider. By now it is August and getting very hot. A four man crew showed up for the installation. They could not have been better. Hard working, communicated well with us and each other. It was a tough job replacing all the old ducting , removing the old equipment and installing the new. Our new HVAC system is amazing, we are very pleased! read more

We hired Paso Robles Heating and Air way back in January of 2020 to install a vent fan on the side of our house. It requires an offset extension ladder because the vent is way up high and the ground slopes. We do not have a ladder for the job. After a month Steve said he would install the vent. My husband called over and over again to ask when they planned on installing it. They had a variety of excuses such as the ground is too wet, we're too busy, etc. They finally said they'd do it in June. We waited and waited, no install so we kept leaving messages. On 10/13/20, SEVEN months after we hired them, my husband took the receipt and the vent into the store. Alyssa said she would get it on the schedule. We had to keep leaving messages for Don. He finally called on 10/31/20 and said they won't do it, find someone else!! Are you kidding me?? They make us wait 10 months and then refuse to do it? This is inexcusable. This is the worst service we've ever had from a business. Save yourself some time and headaches. Don't hire them! read more

Amazing response time and service. I've been experiencing cooling issues in my small business for months and the system went kaput today. They were able to get a team onsite within two hours and they stayed late for the time it took to tear apart, clean, and repair system so I wouldn't suffer any more loss of business by being closed for repairs. I'm glad to see that some people have received good results from PRH&A because my experience was not so good. It's left a bad taste in my mouth for Costco, teaming up with a company that inflates their pricing because of the rebate offering. I tried to work with PRH&A to change out my 20+ year old system, they came out a couple times to evaluate my system and needs, and then completely halted communication. I called and emailed and received one response from John that they "hadn't given up on me", but again, one more "less than truthful" response. I was excited and ready to do additional business with PRH&A because they did a good job on a repair a couple years ago. But they've proven to be very unprofessional in their communication and follow-up. Thanks to PRH&A I found a great local company that treats their customers with respect, follows up on communication, uses top of the line materials, completes a perfectly done job in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. read more

On a toasty 100 degree day, the upstairs A/C unit at my home stopped working. It is 16 years old and I was convinced it was going to need to be replaced. I had recently called Paso Robles Heating and Air for my furnace and also for an emergency at a rental property. They were courteous, honest and arrived quickly, so they were the first company I thought of. So glad I chose them! The woman who answered the phone (wish I could remember her name!) was professional and so nice. She was able to squeeze in an appointment the very next day. Konstantine, the technician, arrived right on time, checked out the unit and within minutes was back to give me the news. No need for a new unit, just a few parts, which were replaced within an hour. He was knowledgeable, honest and efficient. There was no price gouging at all. In fact, I received a 10% discount because of a service I signed up for during the last visit, which I completely forgot about. Both Konstantine and the nice woman that answered the phone remembered. Paso Robles Heating and Air had to sub contract another company's technician to troubleshoot our blower fan and motor imbalance issue. The tech spent about an hour to determine that repairs were not possible, and that a new HVAC system was the only option at $18k to $22k since the A/C has outdated refrigerant (although it's working fine), and they told us it would be $250 for the repair/estimate, but they billed us $650 (we paid them because we honor our obligations). We looked into other companies, and several others gave us quotes to simply replace the blower motor and fan. Bee Right There out of Atascadero replaced the blower motor and fan for $1600 in two hours, and it works perfectly. BTW, Bee Right There HVAC beat the HVAC replacement over Paso Robles Heating and Air by more than 20% equivalent or better equipment. I'm betting that Paso Robles Heating and Air could figure out who wrote this review, but I'm also betting they don't care and are not interested in reconciliation there overcharge. May the buyer beware. read more

My husband and I were expecting a lot of guests over the weekend and of coarse a few days prior our AC stops working...in the middle of summer! It was after 5pm and we frantically looked for a 24hr cooling service. Paso Heating and Air were the only business that called us back. We were so grateful for that! Technician arrived within 45mins of him calling us. I was expecting that we would have to get a new unit, but fortunately just some maintenance and a few new parts did the trick. After that visit our AC has been working great! Service was also friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend. Cost about $430, which is better than the cost of a new unit. read more

These guys had a representative in Costco. From the outset, I learned that it is a small, family run business, with great concern for customer satisfaction. Subsequently, I made an appointment, had them come out and give an estimate (which I found to be reasonable), and found out that through Costco I would actually get a cashback card after the work was done. They came and replaced my entire heating and air-conditioning system (and did so over a period of two days) with great efficiency and courteous service. I am very satisfied with the Lennox equipment that they put in, and have nothing but the highest regard for this company. read more

The guy that came out for the estimate was really nice and seemed to know his stuff. I was floored to get an estimate of more than $13k when we already have heat and ducting. On top of that they have a month of lead time. Luckily I was referred to a local AC guy in 5 cities. He's doing the job today and for $4500! We have had two emergency calls to Paso Robles Heating and Air in the last year and both times we had better results than we hoped for. The technicians were prompt, courteous and went above and beyond the call of duty on both calls. Our heater quit working the Saturday morning before Christmas, we called that morning and the unit was fixed that afternoon. The unit needed a new "brain" which surprisingly they had in stock although he had to go to Paso to get it and return to Atascadero. In the end the price was very reasonable. Great company to work with. We had a problem with our A/C unit. The air conditioning would blow, but the air wasn't cool. PR Heating and Air sent a technician to our home. He diagnosed the problem in a few minutes and added freon to our compressor. He also cleaned the system. Now, everything works great. I recommend them. They are one of the best. read more

when someone tells your 73 year old mother it will cost over 1000 dollars to take 2 solar panels off roof connected to air-conditioners units and said it will take a whole day with two guys and at the end they were here 4 hours with 2 guys and charged first 2180.00 and then I said around 1000 is 2000 and he went outside and came back in and said oh my mistake 1840.00 wow that is still like 2000 why did you not quote 2000 instead of over 1000 to fix this is ripping people off next time will get written bids and make sure I know the full charge. read more

So far everything is working well, but the work was just above average, not great. I suspect the 5 star review was made by a friend. This company did not fully cover all ducts and it failed the first inspection. Unfortunately, Don must have a friend at City Hall, and the inspection was reversed without a second inspection! The clean up was mediocre and I still find debris from the workers, including littered cigarette buts. For a pricey job, I expect excellent, not above average, completion and resolution! Update: a month late I get a phone call stating one minor thing had been fixed, so an employee came on our property without permission. And it was not true! Nothing was fixed. I was also told. The other issued was waived by the city without a re-inspection. So nothing is getting fixed because the owner got ahold of another inspector? The inspector is coming tomorrow to rubber stamp the unresolved issue. Really unhappy after paying A LOT for this 2-day job... read more

It is when things go wrong you find out the true nature of a company. I was referred to Paso Robles Heating and Air from a friend who used their service to repair his air conditioning unit. At the end of December 2021 we had a split system installed in our home. We had limited availability and they were great in accommodating our schedule. The initial installation plan was modified when the installers pointed out some problems and I went with their suggestions. The installation went well. They were very clean, courteous, and friendly. 3 head units were installed. 2 worked perfectly. The 3rd had a problem. It did not work. They sent someone the next day to try to fix the problem. A new part was ordered. The part was installed, and the unit was working. Two months later went to the home and turned on the problem unit. It again started making a clicking noise. This was Friday night at 10:00 p.m. I called on Saturday morning around 8:30 a.m. received a call back within a few minutes. He would be out later that morning. Sure enough he arrived. During the interim he called the individual who installed the new part and had an idea of the unit and possible problem. He was there awhile, and the unit was fixed. Thank you. There was no discussion about who was responsible or trying to cast blame to others, it was just fixed. Certainly I would have preferred the unit not to have broken, but appreciate the quick response, accepting responsibility for the unit (likely a manufacturing defect), and making the timely repair. Top notch service! I waited to write this review until today, our first 100+ degree day. I moved into my house last July and the air conditioning could not keep up with the heat. My home is 1100 sq. ft. Then during the winter my landlord had the central heat/air unit serviced by another company. The next time I needed it, the heater would not come on. The other company could only recommend a replacement so I did some research and got recommendations from someone in the HVAC industry. We called these guys and when their technician came out I knew it was the right decision. They replaced the part causing the problem and cleaned the unit while they kept the price reasonable. No problems all winter. I turned on the unit today for the first time in anticipation of the 106* day and I cannot believe this is the same unit I used last summer. Thank you!! read more

This review is on their customer service, as they have no actually done the work. I called their office and it took a few phone calls til i finally got someone to scheduled to come out. We had some damage to our heating flex tube, and with cold weather and a new baby on the way we needed it repaired quickly. I have to say they were able to send someone out fairly that week. The service guy came and inspected, told us what looked like what needed to be done. I told him we were interested in gettin repair ASAP, and to let the office know we wanted to get it scheduled right away. That same day, no call and the following day again no call. I made a call and left a message. That was thanksgiving week so I decided to wait til after the holidays to hear from them. Well, I called again Friday and Monday after and still no call back, no follow through. They did mail is a quote but that's not what I asked for, and we clearly stated we wanted it repaired right away. Either they are so popular they don't need our business for a simple repair or they just lack the manpower for scheduling and quotes, as apparently it's done by one person. Either way, we ended up going with another company that was professional, fast and got the job done next day. I would say if a company is so busy or doesn't have time, be courteous and call your customers back at least. I shouldn't have to hound you down to get a quote or schedule a job. read more

WARNING ... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING. My experience was so so so bad that I want everyone to know what the hell is happening with these people. I just had to call another company and they took pictures of the mess that Paso Robles Heat left in my attic. Not only did they come twice and charge me $148 for that but they left me without any heat and never bothered to call, come when they said they would and give a damn about me and what they wrecked in my house. The first person who came was nice and did nothing except tell me that heater was working now and I just needed filters. that cost 79$. Then I had a temp of 62 degrees the next morning and it was a Saturday so I called them on Monday as I was requested to do by Danny and had to speak with a nasty woman who fought with me and yelled at me. She finally gave my call to another woman who sent out Robert, a grumpy old man who went into the attic and called me from the attic on his cell phone to tell me that my system was "dirty" and only needed "maintenance" and it would cost $148 for which I left him a check and for which I believed he would fix my heating system. Next morning temp in house 63 degrees. called One Hour and a very nice young man came, went into attic, told me there was charred electrical wire, duct was disconnected, door was off and electric panel, which nobody from PRHeat even looked at, had a half tripped breaker. This meant that my house could have easily burned down while I was asleep since it was still getting some electricity but had an exposed hot wire. Casey from One Hour brought down photos of what he found up there, told me that the reputation of this company is horrible and that their company is always "cleaning up their messes and mistakes". It is clear to me that this company should be SHUT DOWN and they are a danger to the community. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS VIOLATION OF MY SAFETY, A CRIMINAL ACT IN MY OPINION, AND SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. HORRIBLE PR AND HORRIBLE TECHNICAL WORK AND DANGEROUS COMPANY. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND GO TO SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. NO PART OF THIS NIGHTMARE WAS ANYTHING BUT MISERABLE. AND I STILL HAVE NO HEAT. I need an electrician. and the new company is applying the service call to the electrician repair. read more

It started with my my thermostat (still under warranty) completely dying, and Lennox referred me to this company as the only authorized service for their brand in the area. (I refused to call the company who sold and installed this furnace for me because they are well-known crooks in the area, but who initially came out from Costco several years ago, took me to the cleaners, and had so much trouble installing the system and getting it to work.) I called on a Saturday thinking to leave a message and was surprised to get a person answer and tell me they would send someone out that afternoon. (Nobody said I'd be paying overtime for this service call until the guy had me sign to pay him when he left.) He verified that he had to order a new thermostat and come back later to install it. When he finally came (late) to install it, he left after doing so, saying the system was now working. But, of course, it wasn't. When he came back out to look at it again, "coincidentally" a circuit board on the furnace exploded "right before his eyes" and I now had another part (under warranty) to pay for and more service calls. On his 4th visit, he arrived late again, and just as I was leaving the house for a short errand, and he asked if he could just go ahead and fix it while I was gone and it would be closer to done when I got back. I jokingly said, "Sure. Just don't steal anything from me." When I arrived back home, he was gone and it wasn't fixed. The company told me that they have a policy that they won't let their people enter a home to work when the owner isn't physically there. (I would note that I was never given an estimate for any charges levied prior to my being charged after the work was done, and felt I had to pay whatever they charged me, as I had no other recourse to a qualified Lennox repair company according to Lennox.) We now had to wait another week (going on a month now, where before the furnace was heating my house to 85 degrees and not turning off, I now needed the A/C to turn on because the weather had changed, and I had no thermostat to turn it on). On his 5th visit, the tech actually arrived in a timely fashion, with a partner whom I never met, but who played with my puppy at the company truck and walked around the back of the house a couple times and spoke with the tech out back. Just to prove a point, though, they burglarized my home while I was sitting right in my kitchen waiting and waiting for my thermostat and furnace to be repaired, and stole every piece of jewelry (costume, broken, valuable or otherwise) from my bedroom, using the bedroom door at the back of the house for entrance, and leaving doors and drawers open to make sure I knew what they'd done. After I'd forked over my credit card for another charge for "something," and signed a couple places on his iPad not knowing what I was signing for (copies to be emailed to me later), I asked the tech if this was his last visit and I'd never have to see him again, and he said it was. And asked if he'd left all the lights off and the doors closed to the upstairs (where the furnace is located), and he assured me he had. After they left, I found all the doors to and in the upstairs open, as well as closet doors and a drawer, to show me that the entire upstairs had been searched for some supposed valuables up there. I have no doubt that my social security number was taken from papers up there, if they had any use for it. I also noted that his partner had been going through their haul in the company truck while waiting for the tech to drive them away and found some things they didn't want and just threw them out of the truck where it was parked before they left. The next morning, I found my entire purse had been stolen from the kitchen while I was asleep. Cash, I.D., insurance cards, bank cards, credit cards, keys, etc., all gone. I would suggest if you are foolish enough to hire this company, you have an armed sheriff's deputy ready to tail every person who drives up in one of their company trucks, up and down your stairs, back and forth to the truck, and all around your house. Especially if you are a disabled senior citizen who lives alone. I truly believe your are not physically safe with people like that coming into your home. And I would say that this company does not reflect the caliber of business we have come to expect in the North County. Or maybe it's just all heating & air companies in the North County can't be trusted? read more
