Paspa Physical Therapy is an amazing place. I am there for a second injury and am working with Kristen, who is terrific. But all the therapists are: extremely knowledgeable and they make it fun. There have an after care/gym program that you can join once you've completed your therapy program. One of the things I like most about Paspa is their welcoming vibe. Nikki always greets you when you enter and there is never a wait to begin. No judgement, no attitude. Everyone is there to get better and stronger. And the entire staff is lovely and qualified. I have been working with hugo for the past few months and, in my opinion, this is one of the best physical therapy shops in the city. Hugo is extremely attentive and unlike other pt shops, they don't just churn people in and out using standard therapy progressions. First time doing PT and I'm glad I chose this place to do my therapy. I broke my arm and came in soon after surgery. I worked with Stephanie, and she managed to get me rehabbed in two months, and then an additional month to help get back into weightlifting. She was extremely professional and friendly, making the whole ordeal a lot more bearable. The assistants as well were all knowledgeable and helpful throughout. I've been going to Paspa Physical Therapy twice a week for about two months and I love it. I had never been to physical therapy before and I almost didn't think I needed to go since the boot had come off of my ankle after a fall, but my doctor recommended it and I was overwhelmed with pamphlets about various PT places, but then a coworker recommended Pam at Paspa and I decided just to go with that. I'm so glad I did. I think we often forget how connected our mind and body is and when I first started going to Paspa, I was grumpy and sad and sort of not wanting to open up to the physical therapist team. After going for a couple of weeks, my mood shifted and the team (especially Pam) felt like family. I've also realized how much healing my ankle still needed. Through the targeted stretches and exercises that I do at Paspa, I see where my ankle is still injured. Honestly, had I not gone to Paspa, I probably would have just re-injured myself. The space is clean and professional. When you walk in, there's a reception and waiting area, then there's a small gym, there are also private rooms for changing and 1:1 work with your physical therapist (like stretching and massage, etc). There are also bathrooms with showers and lockers. There's even a closet where you can borrow freshly washed T-shirt's and shorts if you forgot yours. You can also leave your sneakers or anything you will need every time you go there. It really is like a small, private gym. The hours are Monday-Friday from 7am-8pm and I've never had any problem scheduling--even the day before I wanted to go in. I usually go on my lunch break and because this location is right off of the 34th street subway stop, it's such a quick train ride from where I work in midtown. And pro tip, it's right next to an Urban Outfitters it you need a quick wardrobe addition. :) I love the email reminders about my appointments. I call them to schedule new appointments because my schedule does fluctuate and the front desk person, David is always so quick and friendly with scheduling. I think he even recognizes my voice when I call! Luckily, my insurance fully covers my appointments at Paspa--so yours might too (just check!) so I can't tell you what the billing/payment side of things is like. I love Pam so much and highly recommend her. One day, she was out and I worked with another Physical Therapist named Hugo and he was good too. I work a lot with the following physical therapy aids and they're great: Stas and Iris. Essentially the way an appointment works for me is that I go into an assigned room and Pam works with me 1:1 before sending me to do targeted exercises with one of the aids. Then I end the session back in the room with ice or a heating pad. I'm always treated with respect and dignity. I love this place and while I'm sad I injured my ankle (tore some ligaments and learned I have arthritis in my feet), I'm so happy I entered the world of Paspa Physical Therapy. I came to my appointment and was assigned to a male therapist which was upsetting. Second appointment was with a female and it's going well! I feel like I'm on the road to recovery. I have been going to Paspa Physical Therapy for about 4 months now 2 times a week. I was referred by my doctor to try Physical Therapy for a running injury I had been avoiding for the last two years. I actually thought I would never run again and feel pain for the rest of my life and I'm only 28. I had tried physical therapy before and was not a believer until I came to Paspa and Hugo GOT ME BACK ON A TREADMILL! I am now running on a consistent basis and getting back into the gym. I am making improvement and having less pain since I started therapy at Paspa. I had a change in health insurance so had to change therapist suddenly. It was actually a blessing. I'm currently in therapy here for labral tears in my hips and something that's either tendinitis or a labral tear in my right shoulder. I've been going here for a little over a month now and my shoulder has definitely improved. Still get pain in it if I overuse it but it's nowhere near what it was when I first started. My hips are more difficult to treat since labral tears don't heal so I'm still working on that. However, that's been an interesting journey at this place... When I first went there, it was mostly for my shoulder as that was a more recent injury and was more painful at the time than my hips. They had become almost asymptomatic so I figured while treating my shoulder, it would be good to strengthen them, as well, so that I wouldn't get pain in the future. I initially met with Gabe and saw him for a couple weeks. He recommended stretching and exercises. After the 2nd time I went, all my symptoms I hadn't had in ages suddenly returned. I finally couldn't take it anymore and was very upset so I told that I didn't want to continue with exercises on my hips. He understood and modified the plan so I could start out a bit slower. I still have pain a month later but at least it's no worse. He then went on vacation for a couple weeks and I ended up seeing another therapist there, Jason. To put it simply, Jason is a God-send. After just one session with him I felt 10 times better than I had in those first few weeks. He said I should not have started doing exercises immediately because there were a lot of knots and tightness in my calves and thighs which only made the exercises hurt rather than help me. Why would the other therapist not have known this?? Instead of just treating the symptoms I was having, he really looked for the cause and which areas I needed to loosen up and strengthen so it would not put so much stress on my hips. He takes the time to explain what's happening, and makes sure you understand your injury so you can help yourself. It's really surprising to me that he's a PT Assistant and the other therapist is the Assistant Director! Should really be the other way around... Anyway, I've only given this place 4 stars instead of 5 because of the initial bad experience I had. But since then it's been great! If you're considering going here, I HIGHLY recommend that you request to see Jason. He really knows what he's doing, and definitely has helped me more than any other physical therapist I've seen over the past couple years (I've been to 4 places). After going to a different PT practice a couple of weeks ago - and having a terrible experience I searched out Paspa. Dirty place, inattentive staff, terrible intake, 15 minute appointment while working with another client then handing me a bag of ice... and the therapist and all around worthless first visit. Paspa rocked. Gabe - my therapist is AWESOME. As is Raquel. And everyone else there! The place was top shelf all around. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. CUTTING-EDGE technology, modalities, equipment, clean and comfortable... And all I did was get stretched and do some basics. I didnt even get to try out all the cool stuff in the main rooms! Anyway - my point - you can read my review as if I worked there. I had a great experience - and when I get treated well - I think the place deserves to get a great review. Highly Recommended! My doctor prescribed physical therapy for a twice sprained ankle, and she recommended Paspa for their one-on-one care. This was my first time every going to PT, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I have nothing but positive things to say about Paspa. Pam and her team were absolutely fantastic. I felt there was level of professionalism and caring that I doubt I would be able to find anywhere else. I was shown strengthening techniques to help both my ankles; exercises I can do from home as well now that I've been discharged. In the few weeks I was going there I noticed my balance improved greatly and feel great! It was also very convenient being able to go before work. I've been to several PT practices, and this is absolutely the best treatment experience I have ever had. The staff is friendly, caring and very hands-on. I really appreciate the attention they give me when I'm going through my exercises, and it doesn't feel overbearing or obnoxious - just that they are attentive and there to assist. From the friendly front desk staff to my therapist and the pt assistants, I'm really impressed with the staff here. Their equipment is new, well cared for, neatly organized, and everything feels very clean and sanitary. It's really more like a well maintained gym than a medical office. They have an anti-gravity treadmill here, isn't that cool? The treatment rooms are also very modern, comfortable and PRIVATE. I have had the experience at other PT practices of being evaluated and treated in the middle of a large room with other clients around, and this feels much more comfortable. I feel more comfortable my medical conditions and treatment with my therapist in a confidential setting. There are often several other clients there during my appointments, but it never feels crowded or stressful. I have always been seen within 5 minutes of arriving, and clients move about freely, doing their exercises with staff circulating to assist and offer suggestions. My therapist is knowledgeable about my medical conditions and is very sensitive to my pain level, understanding that it can vary a lot on different days. I find their staff to be encouraging and motivating, but also very respectful and understanding of my limits and individual goals. I'm living with a chronic illness that will most likely need PT on and off for the foreseeable future, and this is is where I'll be getting treatment. I've recommended Paspa to friends and co-workers, and am really happy that I found them. I've been going to Paspa for PT on and off for over a year now. (I had a shoulder injury that I've re-injured several times playing hockey.) I have nothing but great things to say about the place. The facility is bright, clean and modern. They have locker rooms where you can change and store your belongings. They even have extra t-shirts and shorts that you can borrow if you forget or don't want to bring your own. All of the equipment is in excellent shape. The location is unbeatable. They're in the heart of midtown and steps from Penn Station. They're appointments start as early as 7:30am and go until 7pm. This was a huge bonus for me, as I commute for work. The best part, though, are the people working there. The physical therapists, led by Pam, are all friendly and professional. In addition they have a staff of physical trainers that guide you through your exercises and set you up with hot/cold packs. Everyone there seems happy; they are very nice and attentive. I keep coming back to Paspa because I always feel so well taken care of there. read more

This is BY FAR the best PT place I've ever been to. Kristen is a miracle worker who has patiently and expertly guided me through injured tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis, rotator cuff tear and hamstring injury. She is a true healer, and Paspa's facilities are hard to beat: private rooms, gym clothes with laundry service, and super family like atmosphere and staff. Just recommended Paspa to a friend post neck surgery and he is raving about the results. Modalities include massage, ultrasound, exercise -- whatever is needed to get results. This place saved me from having surgery on my 50%-torn rotator cuff. Believe all the good reviews -- they are that good. The attentive care and support that i've received at Paspa Physical therapy is outstanding. Everyone from their admin support/front desk staff to their excellent team of therapists are knowledgeable, kind, supportive, courteous, and professional. I was fortunate to have Pam as my go to PT person 10 years ago and I've returned to her practice because I know that she and her team will help me return to my yoga practice with confidence after rebuilding my strength, musculature and flexibility. Daniel is currently my main PT person and he has helped my recovery from Rotator Cuff Surgery to be a smooth and comfortable transition. Dan's knowledge and ability to guide my recovery through this long rehab is wonderful. I also have scoliosis and Daniel's sensitivity and awareness of how to integrate the healing of my shoulder while relieving tight muscle patterns in my scoliosis back is has relieved any pain levels I've experienced. read more

I broke my ankle in August of last year and started Physical Therapy at Paspa early October for a duration of approx 3 months.My doctor gave me a list of Physical Therapy places in midtown and I chose Paspa based on the walking distance from my office and to be honest I got a good feeling about Paspa after looking at their website. I was not wrong! Pam and her fantastic staff were very patient and knowledgable. I felt very vulnerable and nervous about walking normally again, they got me off my crutches very quickly without needing a walking aid in the interim! Every visit I gained more and more confidence and started to get my mobility back. One of the perks of Physio was getting an ankle/foot massage by Pam to start the session, this was to help break down scar tissue and warm the ankle up for the work ahead. Pam spent time one on one with me each visit, assessing how I was progressing. Then I worked primarily with one of Pam's Physical Therapy aides, Stas. He was my ankle's best friend for the next 3 months! Working through lots of exercises geared to getting my ankle back to its full range of motion under the careful guidance of Pam. I loved the energy at Paspa, it was a lovely, clean, relaxing space and although I am happy to be fully recovered I will miss going there several times a week and seeing the team. Big call out to the other fantastic aides Rianna and Maggie and last but not least Vashnee for being patient with my scheduling changes and the weekly e-mail reminders. These guys are now my go-to PT. I've been to them a few times now for several injuries. Most recently, I sustained a shoulder injury. I first went to them but then in my infinate wisdom I decided that I needed to be super close to work because I was too busy to make the 5 minute trip to Paspa & co., so I switched. This other place was a franchise with about a million locations that shall remain nameless. They babied my injury, probably trying to milk the insurance cow for all that it was worth, and after a month only then introduced exercises that Paspa PT introduced in their first session with me. I would say that these other guys held me back from an efficient recovery. What I like about Paspa PT is that they treat me like a real athlete, someone who needs to engage in his/her sports to life a full life and not just someone who needs to get to the grocery store 2 blocks away. They put me on the right path and got me ready for fun times again. I recommend them. read more

The owner and staff were knowledgeable and friendly - took the time to answer questions - gave me good recommendations - I could not be more grateful. In May 2012 I was T-boned by an SUV that was moving at around 60 mph while on my motorcycle. After a month and a half in the hospital I ended up at Paspa and started working with Christine. I wouldn't be walking today if it wasn't for Christine and everyone else at Paspa. They gave me the extra treatment time that my body needed to get moving again. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them. Seriously. I had in patient PT at a renowned hospital in NYC and compared to Paspa it was terrible. I went to Paspa after I hurt my shoulder, mostly from wear and tear over the years working out and swimming. The staff that I worked with during my sessions was fantastic. They were very knowledgeable, answered any questions I had, and worked with me every step of the way to make sure I understood each exercise and how it helped my shoulder to recover. PASPA was referred to me by two co-workers, and now I know why! The staff here are welcoming and friendly, and I actually looked forward to each physical therapy session (which is important when you're coming in twice a week). They have shorts, t-shirts, and socks you can change into, and the facilities are clean and spacious. The physical therapist I worked with was Dan and he knows his stuff. Dan is clear in explaining what he's doing, listens to your concerns, and always makes you feel at ease. After the expected 4-6 weeks of sessions, I am happy to say I finally feel back to myself - and with only a $20 copay, I absolutely got my money's worth! read more

I ruptured my Achilles' this past summer and was looking for a place that had an Alter-G treadmill to aid in the recovery. This is one of the few places in the city with such equipment and without a doubt aided in a quick recovery. I went for treatment 2-3 times a week for nearly 5 months and enjoyed seeing their smiles each and every single time. Just the nicest folks ever - practically family now ;) I can say they're definitely well versed in the latest techniques (after doing much research myself) and they really do make the experience a personal one. Over the years, I have been to other physical therapy places in the area, but would never go back. However.....this past year, I fell and suffered a terrible injury of my right leg. After the wound healed, the surgeon recommended PT for me. A friend then recommended PASPA Physical therapy. I LOVE this place. I LOVE the people. I have been under the care of Pam (the proprietor) who does ultra sound and massage (heavenly) on my leg, as well as my therapist, STAS, who I adore. Stas is patient, careful, concerned, and very attentive. He is also a cheerleader - and always tells me how well I am doing and gives me the confidence to do more. I LOVE STAS! He makes it fun; I actually look forward to going. I know too that I am always under the watchful eye of Pam, while Stas and I go through the exercises for balance and strength. They are knowledgeable and innovative with their approach; I am always amazed at the different exercises Stas comes up with, so I don't ever get bored or complacent. Pam and the entire Paspa staff are professional, kind, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I came to them through word of mouth to work on a chronic neck issue associated with herniated discs. After three months of treatments, I'm 99% pain free with a lot more flexibility and movement. The facility is gorgeous with all the machines you'll ever need to properly recover. I have to agree with all the positive reviews. I hobbled in with a lower back injury and felt a marked improvement after the first visit. After a few weeks I felt nearly good as new and was armed with a list of exercises to do at home to keep me healthy. The facility is spacious and clean. The vibe is serious but friendly. Pam Paspa is excellent at what she does, good at explaining issues and exercises and was patient with all my questions. All the staff are all really nice and encouraging. I get the sense that it is a nice place to work. Very happy that my doctor sent me there and was a little bummed when it was time for me to stop going. read more

Jason Maggard at Paspa PT is excellent. I have seen him for a number of injuries including elbow, hip, low back and neck. He has an incredible ability to explain, in plain English, the nature of an injury and how the exercises he prescribes will work to alleviate it. His explanations were crucial to my recovery, as was his tenacity in trying multiple approaches to stubborn low back pain. His cheerful disposition and optimistic attitude make PT a pleasure. The Front Desk staff at Paspa are great. All my insurance matters were handled smoothly. However, make your appointments well in advance; appointments go fast here. The facility itself is spotlessly clean. The exercise equipment is in excellent condition, and includes an anti-gravity treadmill (an AlterG). read more

The tl;dr version is: Paspa works! Physical therapists who know their sh*t, genuinely care about their patients and sincerely want to see them healed and back in the game (it's called "graduation" here), equipment specifically geared to particular conditions and injuries (including an AlterG anti-gravity treadmill!), clean facilities, towel service and showers, I really can't say enough about Paspa. I've recommended them to several of my coworkers already (one just started attending and loves it, another is checking with his primary care physician in order to get sessions). Having been in physical therapy for nebulous knee pain for roughly 10 years, and being told over and over again, "I guess it's just your body," Paspa was a pleasant surprise. My therapist, Kristen, is amazing; really listens, makes note of any improvements, changes, and will modify my exercises accordingly. I finally feel like I'm on the road to lasting recovery. Things were going along fine until I hurt myself during a session. No big deal. Mentioned it to therapist, Stephanie (who did a great job with me). After that, she told me I was almost out of reimbursements (even though I had a number left) and it might be better to come back later in the year to "finish". For that, 1-2 stars should be warranted but I had done well until then, so I'll give a gentleman's 3. I went elsewhere to finish. I had enough coverage, BTW. read more

Not the place to go if you're an amateur athlete and want to get back into sports. The experience was frustrating and disappointing. You get to see a certified PT for 10mins not for rehab but massage or manual therapy/ultrasound and idle chitchat. The actual exercises are administered by kids who haven't even attended PT school. I got to work with Joon/June who on 2 occasions was not paying attention to how I was doing the exercise but to texting on his phone. At another time this "intern" could not explain how to brace my core correctly when doing an exercise. I stopped going here and found a PT that offers one-to-one sessions. read more
