My life partner, Brad, arrived at Restore Rehab with a swollen achilles tendon so badly calcified where it attached to his rear heel that he could barely walk on it. The pain and stiffness had become unbearable. It was actually deformed and bulging from calcium buildup within the achilles tendon tissue on either side of his heel. This bulging outward literally destroyed the lining inside of every pair of shoes he owned. Attempting to stretch the tendon sent lightening pain up his entire calf muscle. The pain kept him awake many a night as it would start to send lightening nerve pains from the heel upward all night long. It was extremely uncomfortable both day and night. We were so happy to encounter Restore Rehab right in our neighborhood! We live in Hell's Kitchen at 57th/10th Avenue, so Restore Rehab was just a few minutes walk down 10th Ave--a wonderful thing when every step Brad took was so extremely painful. Restore's physical therapists worked with Brad 2-3 times a week at the onset. They are wonderful and very skilled at what they do! They used ultrasound on Brad's heel and tendon to breakup all the inorganic calcium that had deposited there from what she explained to me was the result of decades of inflammation. Brad had badly injured this same heel almost 30 years prior, but did not receive proper physical therapy because he did not have insurance at that time. He didn't even go to a doctor!. Restore's sessions also included lots of physical training and strengthening/balance exercises on their in-house equipment to show Brad how to correct the damage he had caused from so many years of abusing an incorrectly healed injury, which had never gone beyond the inflammation stage. We're happy to report that after about 3 months of diligent, weekly treatment and exercising at Restore Rehab, Brad's heel, for the first time in 30 years, has finally completely healed! The sense of freedom and relief when something like this is finally resolved seems nothing short of a miracle! We highly recommend Restore Rehab to anyone in need of physical therapy for an entire host of conditions. We noticed them working on all kinds of other ailments on people of all ages while Brad received his treatments there. And his insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, was no problem! You have no idea what a relief just that alone was! We have absolutely no financial or other type of interest in Restore Rehab. We've voluntarily written this review of Brad's experience there because we feel it's important to know that there are good, honest, highly-trained physical therapists there who know what they're doing. Over the past ten years I have been to Physical Therapy at six different sites in Manhattan. Whether hospital or rehab center; chain or small privately run the first five have much in common with one or more of the others. Problems with scheduling; too focused on sports or accident related injuries using very similar approaches to all and if you don't fit in those categories, which is also where the money is, they eventually lose interest. Too much gym and not enough therapy. Whether they have many therapists or just one, he or she is working with several people at the same time. They put you on a bike, even though your problems are with the cervical spine. You have stopped cycling yourself because it puts undo pressure on the shoulders and neck for which you are seeking help, but it frees the therapist up to see others. You begin to wonder if they get paid by the piece. Then there is the 10-15 minutes of heat at the beginning and the 10-15 of ice and/or tens unit at the end; all of which you do at home anyway. With the other half hour you are given a repertoire of "machine" oriented activities repeated each time you come with little attention from the therapist. You begin to wonder if you are being helped at all, why the therapist is there and eventually drift out the door. At RRPT I found an environment that is personal, has continuity in the design and expansion of activity specifically for you by a therapist who is with you the whole hour with no distractions. In the ten weeks I was there I never touched a "machine", used ice, heat or a tens unit. They were around for special needs but the focus is you and how you will continue the work on your own the other six days and the weeks beyond. Each activity directly aimed at your specific needs with careful observation and assistence. You very quickly realize the goal that it is your game to win. read more

I started going here based on my boyfriend's coercing. He was thrilled at the progress his ankle injury had made, and finally got me to head over there for my back issues. Antonio (physical therapist and the owner) is very nice and its obvious when you meet him that he knows A LOT about physical therapy. Kristian is the other therapist I've had there and he's very good at getting you to pay attention to the smallest form corrections and breathing (of which I am absolutely TERRIBLE at). He really tries to get you to articulate every movement and think about the movement. Eduardo is the other PT and he's always there; he must work 24/7. I've personally never been scheduled with him, but my boyfriend did and would always comment on how "scientific he was". I don't know what that means but my bf thought he was awesome. And every time I'm there he's working very diligently with someone. Truth be told, I wasn't 100% convinced how well the therapy was benefiting me, until I just stopped going before my Rx was used up. Unfortunately, I began experiencing discomfort and immobility in my back, and decided I should go back. Sure enough, the discomfort is alleviating already. Lesson Learned... Also, another HUGE pro to this business is that Josh (the admin) is available on email for appointment questions and scheduling conflicts. Because my work gets so hectic, its much more convenient for me to correspond via email. Josh helps me push my appointment around and also doesn't allow me to not show up. CON: customary cancellation fee if you cancel within the 24 hrs window. Hate it, but every place on earth does this and it makes me cry. read more

As a Hell's Kitchen resident for 40+ years, I am absolutely 100% estatic that Restore Rehab is in our neighborhood! ?I don't have to take the train to get there! Yaaayyy!! I've began physical therapy several years ago after a bicycle accident. And again after I tripped and fell on a uneven crack in the sidewalk on 9th Ave. Which resulted in rotator cuff surgery. Pain, pain, pain.... OUCH!! Antonio was a life saver during this painful time in my life. And I continue physical therapy as part of my body maintenance plan. I started taking clinical Pilates at Restore for better lower back mobility and core stability. My boyfriend was going here and kept saying how much he liked the guys that work there, so figured it would be easy to transition in there with him. I had Kristian primarily and Antonio intermittently. Both were fantastic for different reasons. Kristian is very hands on and pays very close attention to every movement and placement; he's also super friendly and sweet. Antonio has so much experience in PT that he can literally tell you to correct you form when he's not looking at you. I've been there when Eduardo is with clients and he is so technical and scientific with things. He seems incredibly knowledgeable about whatever it is that PTs are supposed to know. I always overhear him explaining things to people about the body. And my boyfriend absolutely owes his ankle being normal again to that guy. Highly recommend because they are not "just an employee working a big practice" I hate those huge places with 20 employees sitting around waiting to be placed with a client. Its depressing and you feel like they are going to try to steal you from your PT person. RR PT its small, they are all friends and they must genuinely love working there and what they do. So you are reading this review because you are physically in pain, which is completely mentally draining as well. Now you have to navigate the difficult world of physical therapy clinics. From my experience with multiple providers, there are two types of PT clinics: 1) the volume clinics that have a chiropractor that crack your back and put you on a traction machine and maybe you spend 10 minutes with a physical therapist that teaches you some exercises; 2) then there is Restore Rehab with one-on-one strength training assisted by pilates machines in a caring environment. If you want to get better, you go to Restore Rehab Antonio is a caring, fun instructor/owner. He really knows his stuff from training knowledge down to the cellular level of what is happening in your body. There is no other clinic you can go for one-on-one training for a full hour with anyone as talented as Antonio. I personally have been suffering from lower body pain caused by a slight herniation in L5-S1 for almost 4 years now. Progress comes in stages and my work at Restore Rehab over several months has me feeling 99.9% better. read more

Restore PT honestly is the best physical therapy place I have gone to. I have injured myself a bunch of times and done PT in a few place from eastern Long Island to Westside of New York City. Recently my injury has to do with 6 herniated discs and my sciatica nerve being pinch. I have been here just over a month and I have gone from not being able to sleep, shave my legs tie my shoes, etc. now I can do all the above with little to no pain and am working on strengthening every part of my body. Bc the foot bone is connected to the ankle bone; the ankle bone is connected to the tibia and finis bone. What I'm trying to say is overall wellness is needed to bring you back to where you were before and I am we'll on my way. I honestly thought my life was just going to be a life of pain and I would just have to deal and take pain killers all day. Now I rarely take pain killers (prescribed by my MD) except for certain flare up and hard nights. Please if you have any interest in getting better, this is definitely a place to check out. read more

I started at RestoreRehab a month ago after a minor issue from previously working out. This is my first time doing physical therapy and I was down on myself because my rotary cuff injury messed up my improvements with working out from the previous year. But RestoreRehab not only is helping my injury but Sonal is giving me advice and teaching me how to workout while taking care of myself and making sure there are not future injuries. Sonal is investing lots of time in getting my shoulder stronger and reeducating all the muscles to function the way they are supposed to. I have gone to Restore Rehab for 3 different injuries. 2 knee operations and one issue with a pinched nerve in my neck. I had great care each time. I was especially impressed with Antonios' ability to fix my neck. I hadn't slept in a week due to pain and after 2 sessions the pain and issue was almost gone.
