I buy all of my plaid shirts here, and regularly put my old clothing in the bin out back. Prices are fair and the clothes they have on rack are mostly in good condition. Sometimes the cashier line can be a bit slow (what else to expect of old christian women?). Will be back, of course. read more

I dropped off a small bedroom nightstand and everyone was helpful. It was my first time there and I pulled up in the front of store not realizing I was supposed bring my donation to the back of the store. One of the women came with me to take the nightstand out of my trunk and she carried it in for me. Next time I'll know to go around to the back of the store for drop offs. read more

Male manager is horrific spewing vinegar with every word. He was condescending, spoke to me like i was an unwanted child. I called for three weeks arranging the dropoff and confirming theyd accept all the furniture i was bringing so they could have enough folks to unload a large moving truck. Upon arrival he met me with anger, did not take my estate property and yelled at the movers and I. Was it because my movers were black and his employees are white or was he constipated? This place is incredibly clean and well organized! The main room is filled with clothes: women's, men's, and children's. The racks are not overstuffed, and they are organized by item, size, and color. All items are generically priced (long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts, vests, etc). The larger side room is filled with furniture, household times, and an amazing bookstore (also incredibly well organized by genre.) The prices can't be beat. The store is 100% run by volunteers. Terrible. My boyfriend and I tried to donate a couch but were turned away for a small stain on the arm of the couch. Funny thing is, we BOUGHT IT FROM HERE YEARS AGO. Yes, with the small stain on the arm of the chair. We were told that's impossible, they don't sell things like that. A perfectly good love seat turned away. How sad. I won't be shopping this thrift store anymore. read more

Aside from the standard face mask, you will be met with a volunteer who at the door will say it's mandatory to use hand sanitizer. Otherwise you can't shop there. Overkill and kind of communistic if you ask me. And their selection is quite sad and not worth the hoops you have to jump through. read more

I grew up thrifting at this store!!! Even now, every time I come into town me and my mom make a trip to pass it on... We have gone here for years even before they expanded and remodeled. This is a gem of a thrift store. I've lived in a lot of places over the past few years and I always miss pass it on. It is by far the cleanest thrift store I've ever been in. So many thrift stores feel gross and sad when you walk in but this store is so nice and the prices are right!! This is an excellent place to shop and donate to. read more

I'm a Unique Thrift Store (in Markham) loyalist. I love that spot, make no mistake about it. However, a friend of ours recently suggested we check out a hospital bed available at Pass It On as we're in the market for one for our daughter. Let me just say...it was love at first sight at PIO Thrift Center. I've never been to such a clean, organized, and friendly thrift store, um, EVER. Have questions? Ask away and receive a friendly, knowledgeable answer. Wander around? There's a place for everything and everything in its place so aisles are, you know, actually *aisles*. The prices are awesome. One of our little girls has severe CP and finding clothes for her is beyond difficult. We've struck gold here more than a few times. That in and of itself is a HUGE feather in the cap of Pass It On. Oh, and don't even get me started on the furniture and housewares, either. Suffice to say, we NEVER walk out empty handed. You probably won't either. Just trust me on this one. read more

I've found this place to be as organized and neat as any thrift store I've ever been too. The staff of volunteers is helpful and kind. I have purchased dishes, a Christmas tree, housewares, and clothing in the past. The men's clothing options are limited compared to a Salvation Army or Goodwill but there are gems to be found. Where they do well in my opinion is with household furniture and housewares. I have found the prices to be fair and new items are coming in all the time. It's definitely worth a stop. This place has arguably the best book section of any thrift store in the area. You guessed it: it's organized by genre. If I had a basement bar or man cave I would buy up the old leather bound books they have and place them there Ron Burgundy style. If you love popular fiction, stopping in is an absolute must. Let's just say that thrifting is my thing. And when I'm in the Chicago area, you know that I am going to Crestwood as much as possible to look for things that I didn't know I needed until I saw them there for fifty cents. I am limited to what I can buy, either having to carry it on a plane or ship it home, and usually come out of there with a box of treasures. Great prices on furniture, and it turns over quickly. I've never been there when the new window display is revealed, but I imagine it's quite the scene. I wonder if people camp out to get first pick? You buy the items, then pick them up when the next display is ready to go. Usually, it's more high-end or collectible items that go in the window. Pretty savvy for a thrift store! I've only had an issue there once when I asked about some Bakelite jewelry that was not priced yet. I was leaving in a few days and asked if it would be priced by then, and the woman said that only ONE person could price jewelry & she would not be doing it within that time. Why she had to tease me by telling me about it, I don't know. For cry-eye, you got this stuff for free, and it supports Christian schools in the area. Make something up, or let me make an offer. They know good stuff when they get it, most of the time, but let's not forget the mission. They get a lot of people's collections, and I have gotten some nice glassware, vintage fans, and paper mache clowns (don't judge me). Prices on clothing & shoes are fair, and it is nicely organized. I purchase an item from window display.When I went to pick this item pick up .THIS ITEM WAS NO LONGING THEIR.They refund my money but I wanted item had purchased. Earlier in month I realize the sold tag have been remove from my item which I have purchase.Also pointed this out the they.They promise their would be no problem.I guess somebody who volunteered or worked their wanted my item and you got the item.This item never had put out sale in the first place.I no longing to this place of business. Pass It On does have items organized well with some nice brands. However, their customer service has been consistently awful in my experience, hence the 1 star. Today was the culmination of multiple bad experiences, and will be our last visit. The workers were verbally unkind to my wife, saying things like "you like to run things down to the wire" and telling her how inconsiderate she was, all for shopping 10 minutes BEFORE closing. I guess they thought customers should leave before that. Ironically, this took place while "The Old Rugged Cross" was playing in the background. This was not the first time workers at this store have been rude. This thrift store supports a Christian school financially, but not in mission, with this kind of example. read more

When I get to Crestwood I always try to stop at this thrift store. Very helpful people who volunteer their time. But the last time I was in the lady who prices jewelry was behind the counter showing me some items. We get to talking and she tells me that many of the antique and vintage pieces she keeps behind the desk for her regulars to look at first. Wait. What??? Are you kidding me? Thrifting and finding deals is all about timing. But how convenient that her dealers...I mean "regulars" get first dibs on the good stuff? In all fairness it should be prices and displayed for EVERY customer. Not just regulars. So after she told me this I have not been stopping in there as often. I am a thrift store fiend. I visit them weekly, mainly to book hunt. This is the best, largest, most well organized book collection i have found in a thrift store. They have classics, kids, religion, etc. Found Hemingway, Dostoevsky, c.s.Lewis, and some rare books. Love this store. read more

Like all places the clothes are hit or miss but you can't beat going in and finding their sale to be buy one, get one free when their prices are already low! Seriously it's hard to just walk out with one thing! Service is always amazing, it's always clean and the whole store is beautifully organized, it wouldn't take you long to figure out if they've got what you want if you're looking for something in particular (unless its a book of course). So try it, I doubt you can complain about what they have to offer and it goes to great causes! And I've been told they get their estate sales on Thursday mornings so it's usually busy then. read more

I just stopped into the pass it on thrift store in Crestwood and it's supposed to be a thrift store a resale shop and the prices are incredibly high it. It's really ridiculous to charge $130 for a itty-bitty little dinette table it's ridiculous and it was creaky loose like it was about to fall apart. I understand at times can be rough for businesses now days. But that stuff up in there is not worth the prices that they have on it. My personal suggestion would be to visit the Goodwill on 159th and Harlem for what prices really need to be for thrift items. read more

This is by far the best thrift store I've ever shopped in. I love it. It is well organized, well run, and full of unique finds in every department. I have even recently started volunteering there and there is even more cool stuff in the back not yet priced so this is definitely a great place to frequent if you're into thrift store shopping or even just into finding a great deal on gently used (sometimes brand new) merchandise. It's run by all volunteers, local people from the neighborhood mostly, and all proceeds go to a local Christian school. They showed me in the back all their proceeds in the past few months... it's doing great things for those students. So, before you head out this holiday season check this place out. There is a LOT of holiday items for your home, lots of gift ideas. I saw a man donate a brand new heated shiatsu chair pad... it will probably be priced for $10 or less. There is a lot of clothes, linens, housewares, an excellent book section, luggage, shoes, etc etc etc... all gently used. Organized, hence 5 stars, merchandise OK, most clothing seemed very used and not very up-to-date. I shop the Salvation Army on S. Harlem and S. Cicero and both stores are unbelievably junkie, but I frequently find some real steals, Eileen Fisher, Stuart Weitzman, Kenneth Cole, Papell, etc. just to name a few. But, Pass It On is worth the trip though, my first visit was successful, I was looking for a bowling ball and I found one that fit my fingers for the bargain price of $3. WIll return there soon. Very clean with high quality products. However the hours are horrible (like many other charity thrifts) and the book prices have gotten outrageous. They price the rare books higher and charge prices comparable to online booksellers. Then the overpriced books sit on the shelves for years. Book buyers go to thrift stores for bargains on hidden gems. read more

This is the most well lit, best smelling, professional thrift store I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The staff are the most wonderful people. They ought to conduct a class on Customer Service. They are all very patient and friendly, EACH AND EVERY TIME! The merchandise is clean and the furniture is in top notch shape. Have been a thrifty shopper all my life~ why pay retail~ I have to tell you this store is Amazing~ the store is now much bigger ~ but it has always been clean and well organized ~ they have tons of clothes in EVERY size and that is awesome ~ all clothes appear to have been laundered and fresh ~ would recommend ya wash after purchase as I always do but they looked better on the rack then after I wash and Ironed them myself ~ wonder how they do that ~ anyways~ I shop there all the time and am always happy ~ the staff is all volunteers ~ so to the poster who posted the bad customer service remark ~ if you want 5 star kiss your Azz service go down town and pay full price ~ I think they'll kiss it there ~ not only did they volunteer their time so you can get a deal of a life time ~ but they appear to be senior citizens ~ so what if one of them was having a bad day ~ you want the winter coat for $8.00 or the Jeans for 2 bucks DEAL with it~or ya could pay full price somewhere else~ The staff has always been friendly and helpful to me ~ anyhow The store it self is VERY clean and has a fresh smell and there is no JUNK to be found there ~unlike other stores I have visited~ I'd like to keep this store a my little secret so I can get all the great deals but others deserve to know!
