Prom Make-up
Marianela R.

Maribel did my makeup for my prom. It was amazing. All my friends complimented me on it. She did it exactly how I wanted it. She gave me suggestions on how to apply my makeup and listened to my concerns. Also, I really liked that she was constantly sanitizing her hands because I am a germophobic. I highly recommend her.

Thank You, Maribel. I loved my Dapper Day look!

I have no idea where to start! I found Maribel through the Yelp community and I'm so happy I got in touch with her. I contacted her about doing my makeup for an upcoming event at Disneyland (Dapper Day) and explained to her that I was looking for a classy pin up look for the day. We communicated through email, which is perfect for me because I'm always on the go, and even through her emails I could feel that she really cared. I was nervous about getting my makeup and hair done by a professional because my confidence has never been too up there and I was feeling intimidated by all the things I thought could go wrong or that she would take one look at me and send me away *laugh* Boy, was I wrong! Maribel was fantastic right from the start. Not once did I feel unwelcome or put off. She was a complete sweetheart who made sure I was comfortable and was very patient with me. I was able to talk with her freely and even when I would twitch while she was applying makeup (my face was fighting it) she never once got frustrated. My hair was done by Tina and she was just as Fantastic! They both kept the atmosphere friendly, humorous and exciting. They worked together in perfect sync and had me randomly laughing or throwing my two cents into their conversations. They even threw a few jokes at my boyfriend, who came with me, and had him smiling all the way. When all was finished, I could not believe the girl staring back at me. I have never been good at taking compliments so all I could do was comment short sentences on my look..but I truly loved it! I felt beautiful and after I left I kept getting compliments on my makeup and my hair all day. The best part was that, through heavy sun, sweating, enjoying rides and eating, my makeup and hair stayed put and I never had to retouch once. I've only ever put makeup on myself how ever I could and watching Maribel work made me realize just how much more there was to it and just how beautiful and graceful the art of makeup really is. Maribel is an amazing artist whom I was proud to have work on me. I look forward to booking her again for any of my future events.

My hair stayed put the whole day even after an outfit change! Thanks Tina!

I used Maribel's team for two events of my Indian wedding and was so happy with their work. They also did hair and makeup for my bridesmaids and my mom. Everyone was super happy with their look. I was especially happy that they were able to please my mom because she is very specific about what she wants and doesn't wear a lot of makeup. She loved what Tina did for her hair and makeup and she looked gorgeous as did everyone in the wedding party. All of the artists really listened to what each girl wanted for their look. They were very professional, punctual and flexible. Also, I think this was a great value compared to other vendors I looked at. I highly recommend them and would use them again for sure!

Maribel (MUA) did my makeup for a fashion show last year in November. She is great. She caters to your wants and needs. I didn't have anything in mind so I told her she could do what she wanted and in the end I loved it. :) Very friendly and makes you feel comfortable. I would definitely like to work with her again. Picture added :)

My amazing makeup trial! THANK YOU MARIBEL!!!

At my appointment, Kaz started with a wash and then spent a solid 40-60 minutes on the cut. He's super detailed. It felt like he was paying attention to every single strand. I love how it turned out.!!! After washing, my hair just falls into place naturally. I barely have to style it...just brush and go. Yuji was my hairdresser, and he was so kind, precise, and skilled with my haircut. When I first walked in, I thought, "ah this really is a no frills hair salon," and I'll admit I was a little nervous since it was my first time and I didn't know what to expect. As soon as I sat down, my nerves went away. Yuji was so gentle and attentive, and I felt really well taken care of. My appointment lasted about an hour and included a wash and cut. Parking is validated for up to two hours, which is definitely enough time. I was so happy with my results. I truly don't know how Yuji creates such magic with his hands! I'll be coming here from now on for my haircuts. Please show Yuji and Hair Craft your support by leaving a generous tip. An establishment like this that truly gives you high quality results for such a generous price deserves to be met with gratitude and good tips. Too many salons are charging an arm and a leg for a basic trim these days, and Hair Craft is not one of them. There were only 1-2 stylists working during my visit, so please be patient and make sure to book at least three weeks in advance. When I booked, they were already scheduled out for three weeks, and I overheard them telling other callers the same thing. Thankfully, it was absolutely worth the wait. I can't wait to come back and will definitely be booking with Yuji again. Thank you Hair Craft for such a wonderful experience!!!

We got him an appointment with Manson and Manson was truly wonderful with him. He gave him quite the glow up and gave him a style that he could wear different ways - one way would not show a lot of change from his original haircut (so as not to get teased by classmates), but he could style it a few other ways that really showed off his individual style and he absolutely LOVED that. Now my nephew wants to come to LA for a haircut every time. LOL! Considering he's from Oregon that won't be happening as often as he'd like, but he definitely has decided that Manson is his hair stylist in Los Angeles.

Roommate Salon is tucked into one of the retail spaces beneath the Toy Lofts in the Arts District of DTLA. We love the convenient location--it's just a short walk for us, saving us trips to K-Town for hairstylists experienced with Asian hair. Parking is available on the street, with a paid lot nearby near the restaurant Camelia. My partner and I both got haircuts from Manson at Roommate Salon (on separate occasions). My partner has very short hair, and I have long hair, and we're both extremely happy with the results. Manson is calm, focused, and incredibly meticulous. He also provides excellent advice tailored to your hair type. Don't expect a quick 30-minute haircut--Manson truly takes his time to ensure quality. I also had a Japanese scalp massage with Miko. Her technique was excellent, leaving me completely relaxed afterward. The pricing is on par with other hair salons in LA. My partner and I'm looking forward to our next haircut with Manson.

You're escorted to the lockers to put your belongings away, given a cozy robe, and immediately made to feel relaxed and taken care of. The service here is honestly unparalleled--even compared to many places I've visited in Japan. The scalp cleansing feels incredible, and the head massage is so amazing that it deserves to be its own standalone service. While you're getting your hair done, they also offer a variety of complimentary drinks and snacks, making the entire experience feel thoughtful and elevated. As for Olivia--she was phenomenal. I came in with no specific hairstyle in mind. I simply pointed out the areas I was concerned about, and she expertly created a look that suited me while explaining what she was doing every step of the way. She gave me practical styling tips and genuinely focused on the long-term health of my hair. What stood out the most was that she never tried to upsell me on products or unnecessary services. Instead, she genuinely cared about making sure my hair was healthy and that I left happy with the results. That level of honesty is hard to find these days. If you're looking for a salon that values quality, craftsmanship, and customer care over making a quick sale, this is the place. The pricing is incredibly fair for the level of service and attention you receive. I can't recommend Olivia enough. I'll definitely be coming back!

Daniel is absolutely amazing! Not only is he an absolute sweetheart and an awesome person all…read morearound but he also truly takes the time to put his focus and care into each one of his clients. It was my very first time with The Hideout Salon and not only was he understanding of any scheduling rearrangements we had to make, he also made sure to make it a point that we would be setting enough time aside for what we would anticipate needing so that when the time came, there would be zero rush along with top quality service which makes a huge difference in customer experience compared to factory booking which sacrifices quality, time, and attentiveness for squeezing in numbers, and as clients we all greatly appreciate this! While I was waiting Allie was very sweet and settled me in/welcomed me and offered me something to drink. The decor of the place felt very cozy and cute. If youre a dog lover you'll also be very happy to probably see a friendly cute Lil doggo named Carl (Karl?) comfortably shimmying his way around the shop (and if youre scared of dogs dont worry, he really just does his own thing Lol). Hes So darn cute and floofy. I came in for both a color and a consultation for a potential cut. Because I sometimes tend to notice/look at details that others may want to gloss over or perceive as me overanalyzing, it felt really difficult for me to explain to others how my recent haircut from another place just a month or two ago had specific lengths and cuts in specific areas going around my whole hair that had left my previous haircut feeling kind of "off" in certain ways and that I felt was giving my hair the very slight illusion of looking shorter than it actually really was and a little "choppy" in some areas, which then had an effect on how it framed my face/widened it instead of helping elongate it. But when I explained it to Daniel, he totally got it and even held up the individual sections that he agreed were causing those effects, why it was creating the effect that it was and how we would resolve it. I was so happy that he not only truly acknowledges and makes it important to understand where his clients are coming from (whether its concerns or goals etc) but that he also has such skill and knowledge to be able to fully do so and hit the nails right on the head. The color was also beautiful as well and because I wanted something that was healthier than permanent that would also give my hair a healthier appearance (ie shine, softness, gloss etc) he recommended the demi and also mentioned that it would make it easier down the road for me to go lighter if I ever wanted to. The color blended and matched so well with the rest of my hair and everything from the cut to the color made me feel like all of my goals were achieved. Everything Daniel did with my hair left me feeling so *Bonita*, and he was just such a joy to work with and an awesome person all around. Thank you Daniel for this lovely experience :) -------------------------------- Parking: Since the salon is in the heart of Downtown, its best to try and arrive a bit earlier than your appointment time and to be prepared for alot of one way streets and quickly turning into the available open public parking lots closeby before passing the salon (to avoid having to go further down in a circle to get back to the parking again). I believe there are 2 or 3 lots before you pull up to the salon that have big signs that say public parking. If youre driving towards the direction of the salon, out of the 3 the first one youll pass is just self-service/pay which was the one I parked in, and the other two have attendants as you pull up to the salon. Im not sure if both of those allow open access to all, so i will find out the next time I go again :) The front of the salon itself can be very easy to miss so just make sure to park before you even pass it on your GPS and youll see a small little sign over a door that says the Hideout salon when you walk up. There will be a door code for you to enter so just ask the salon for the door code in advance so that youre all set to go when you get there as well :)

It's a gorgeous setting and the entire team is incredibly warm and welcoming. Service: Daniel Apodaca is an exceptional talent. I went in for a brunette colour correction that took almost five hours, and every single minute was worth it. I trusted his judgement, his suggestions, and his overall vision for my hair, and I'm so glad I did. This is the first time in my life I've walked out of a hair appointment with my expectations truly exceeded. I left The Hideout completely blown away by the results and didn't feel the need to tweak, adjust, or "fix" anything afterward, which is rare. Even the blow-dry/silk press combo lasted a full week. Daniel is kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely lovely to spend time with. I've absolutely found my stylist and will 100% be back.
