I found Maribel on Yelp earlier this year and was super excited to get in touch with her when I saw all the glowing reviews that she has received. I got in touch with her via email and was quick to book a trial session with her once I saw how responsive and detail-oriented she was. Maribel did my trial makeup for my bridal shower in April and we had an absolute wonderful time! She really helped me pin down exactly what kind of look I was going for and, even though she had other appointments to get to and kept our session on track and on time, I never once felt like she was rushing through our appointment. We had a really great time talking and laughing while she fixed me up - a HUGE plus! Once my mom and mother-in-law-to-be saw my finished look they went ahead and put their deposits down for the wedding day. I have no idea where to start! I found Maribel through the Yelp community and I'm so happy I got in touch with her. I contacted her about doing my makeup for an upcoming event at Disneyland (Dapper Day) and explained to her that I was looking for a classy pin up look for the day. We communicated through email, which is perfect for me because I'm always on the go, and even through her emails I could feel that she really cared. I was nervous about getting my makeup and hair done by a professional because my confidence has never been too up there and I was feeling intimidated by all the things I thought could go wrong or that she would take one look at me and send me away *laugh* Boy, was I wrong! Maribel was fantastic right from the start. Not once did I feel unwelcome or put off. She was a complete sweetheart who made sure I was comfortable and was very patient with me. I was able to talk with her freely and even when I would twitch while she was applying makeup (my face was fighting it) she never once got frustrated. They worked together in perfect sync and had me randomly laughing or throwing my two cents into their conversations. They even threw a few jokes at my boyfriend, who came with me, and had him smiling all the way. When all was finished, I could not believe the girl staring back at me. I have never been good at taking compliments so all I could do was comment short sentences on my look..but I truly loved it! I felt beautiful and after I left I kept getting compliments on my makeup and my hair all day. The best part was that, through heavy sun, sweating, enjoying rides and eating, my makeup and hair stayed put and I never had to retouch once. I've only ever put makeup on myself how ever I could and watching Maribel work made me realize just how much more there was to it and just how beautiful and graceful the art of makeup really is. Maribel is AMAZING at what she does. I was in need of a hair/ makeup artist for my wedding, and went on wedding wire. I actually found someone else, but unfortunately she was booked. She recommended Maribel- and I am SO glad she did! I was a little hesitant at first because I usually don't put on too much makeup and I've never had my hair or makeup done for anything. But when I went to her studio, she made me feel so welcome and comfortable! I even made some last minute changes on the day of my wedding as far as how I wanted everything to look, and she did EXACTLY what I wanted. I only used them for makeup, not for hair. Based on how well Virginia Valverde did our makeup and on Maribel's exemplary service, I'm sure their hair services are just as outstanding! As Virginia told me, she wanted to take whatever I (and the Brideswomen) wear each day, and make it stand out just a little bit more. She was very patient and also gave really good advice. I felt so bad that I forgot my appointment time when I had the my trial run with her, but she helped make me feel not too bad as she asked me what I was looking for with my bridal makeup. She made feel comfortable with choosing the makeup that I did, which I greatly appreciated because I wear minimal makeup most of the time. The morning of the wedding, Virginia, in coordination with the hairdresser, did my, my mom's, and some of the brides women's makeup. Virginia put on a much or as little of makeup as each person wanted. Her knowledge and expertise helped me, my mom, and sister (we all wear minimal makeup) feel comfortable, even with the fake eyelashes she put on us!!
