I was a longtime runner, Barry's Bootcamp, and Cross Fit enthusiast -- all of which destroyed by body and left me injured more than in shape. Lagree Pilates and Solidcore are a full body workout and exactly what I needed. There is zero impact on the joints and each movement is slow and in control. You also majorly get the heartbeat pounding and I find myself a sweaty mess like I did in those other fitness routines. Solidcore's approach isn't always my favorite (the trademark language and constant soundtrack of the instructors). If I had to pick, I prefer Lagree's approach more but hey, I'm just grateful to have this workout in DC.

Expiration policy on classes is VERY short - this means that if you get a VERY EXPENSIVE classpack but say get sick or have to travel, there's zero flexibility to get an extension. Pretty tone deaf given we just went through years of a pandemic. 2. There is NO HUMAN to be found to help with any questions on classes/memberships, you just email some general account and someone with no name sends you boiler plate marketing. 3. VERY EXPENSIVE It all just leaves a very unpleasant taste in your mouth and there are too many other fitness options where you are treated like a human and where you can get a great workout.

The…read morelocation is a bit hard to find since it's in an alleyway but once you find it and enter in you are surrounded by a bunch of artwork on the first level and then a pilates studio on the second floor. They offer everything from the reformer to the cadillac to the chair. They host group classes as well as privates. When I stopped in I took an Intermediate Pilates class. The class was well balanced with movements focused on the core, upper and lower body. I can't recall if music was playing if it was it was very low. There were mirrors throughout the space so that you could check your form. My only hesitation on coming back is that the space didn't feel very diverse and the instructor was not friendly. The energy was giving stuck up and it made me feel like I was not welcomed there unfortunately.

About 9 year ago I was diagnosed of a "frozen shoulder" - physical therapy did not really work -…read moremy motion was still limited, and my orthopedic surgeon recommended to try pilates. After 8 weeks of weekly sessions with Ryan I totally forgot about my frozen shoulder, felt great, lost body fat. So I decided to continue my pilates training, then TRX and a combination of both. Now, after 8 years of training with Ryan I achieved the results I ever imagined was possible -at my 55 I am in much better shape than when I was 25 years old, as I always hated to exercise! Ryan is an outstanding trainer - he is very knowledgeable, patient, motivational, focuses on my specific goals and problems (scoliosis is just one of them) - always varies exercises to create an effective workout for me, combining pilates, TX, assisted stretching. I love SC so to me this wasn't necessarily a bad thing but do keep in mind this class pushes you to muscle failure rather than focus fully on Pilates form. I came for a 430 Ariana Grande class and didn't realize they don't really have a "waiting" area since they keep the doors to the room locked. They have one restroom available and then you just leave your shoes out in the open. The studio itself is gorgeous and has such great natural lighting. Check in was easy and my instructor was very helpful in explaining the machine and the class. The class itself was about 80% similar to SC with maybe a little traditional Pilates and some stretching. A hard and good workout but wasn't what I thought it would be but still enjoyed it. The class is around 40-45 minutes so you don't get as long of a class for the money. They didn't play any Ariana Grande which was a bummer since I looked forward to the theme. Overall clean and aesthetic studio but very similar to studios I'm already a member of and with slightly less amenity space, I am not sure which is a better bang for your buck.

There is a warmth in this community that is apparent from your first visit. My pants fit better, my core is tighter, and my overall concentration has improved in the short time I've been practicing here. Classes are divided into sections that incorporate cardio movements/calisthenics, strength/length training, and mental clarity/restoration. All the major muscle groups get some major attention: legs (LEGS!), arms, core, glutes. Flexibility and balance are also key focus areas at Barre3. I am used to spending classes counting down the minutes until it is over, but here I don't have time to think about it before we are stretching out and cooling down at the end. The instructors spend the entire class talking you through the movements and (more importantly, imo) proper form, walking around providing hands-on adjustments and encouraging you to push yourself to the next level. Rachel's classes were dynamic, fun, and upbeat. Dani's classes were detailed, deep, and challenging. I appreciated them both so much and it speaks volumes that each instructor here took the time to cultivate their unique styles. I left each class feeling more of myself. I also had the pleasure of meeting Saba, the owner, who was so friendly and gave me incredible recommendations for local restaurants. My love for Pilates & my practice were restored by the end of the week. Will definitely return when I'm back in DC. Thank you, Fuse!

I took a class here with Addie, and she is fantastic. I'm sad I haven't taken a class with her before, but I highly recommend her, even if you are brand new to Pilates. The other staff I interacted with were friendly as well. If location is not a concern for you (as it's not for me), you should definitely check out Fuse's second location.

So if you decide to go, know that the advertised schedule is not honored and that you'll need to find another place to go wait for your ride home.
