/10 So like I love barre3 generally and can go forever about how great of a workout it is but I can easily say this is the best studio I have ever been to (my qualifications are 6 years of barre3, taken at least 300 classes, been to 8 studios, worked at one, taken different versions of barre, and go like 4 to 5 times a week) I put so many friends on and they all love so don't be shy girls it's first class free!!! Every single instructor teaches such incredible classes and has great instructors like I barely look at whose name I'm signing up for. The strength and cardio slay. The class times are perfect. Everyone is friendly and positive and uplifting. They have dry shampoo in the bathrooms. The studio is beautiful like the brick and plants everywhere are so good. It's so clean and they give you a disinfecting wipe (not Clorox like a good wipe) for your props at the end so the props aren't grimy. It smells good because of the lemon candle they use. In general just such a positive space and the vibe is not to hate on your body it's to modify and like be balanced and functional The essential oils is what I will especially highlight because basically at the end of class they waft around these essential oils during breathwork and I am in loveeee with it!!!!! Barre3 has been a great way to exercise while recovering from a knee-injury. The movements are physical therapy adjacent. More importantly, the instructors ask about injuries as you walk in to class, talk through modifications, and check-in throughout class. I'm truly impressed by the progress I've made in 9 months. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to run again and I've built up enough strength around my knee to jog my favorite 3 mile loop. read more

WOW! This was my first time at a Barre class and I loved it! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a mix of an awesome workout (soreness will kick in the day after) and then yoga type calming towards the end of the class. You'll feel Barre 3 feeling refreshed, energized and stronger! No prior ballet, yoga or pilates experience necessary! There are two barre rooms in the studio, both of which are very clean and bright. Alicia, the shopowner and instructor, was super friendly, easy to follow, and extremely flexible, offering modifications for people of all fitness levels during class. The studio provides everything you need (ball, yoga mat, weights), so all you need to do is come, bring a friend (or make new ones in the class) and try it out!! Highly recommended! read more

Barre3 14th St is a 10. The space itself is lovely and serene, the instructors and staff are absolutely stellar, and the workout is one of the best (and most challenging) I've ever had. There is a warmth in this community that is apparent from your first visit. My pants fit better, my core is tighter, and my overall concentration has improved in the short time I've been practicing here. Classes are divided into sections that incorporate cardio movements/calisthenics, strength/length training, and mental clarity/restoration. All the major muscle groups get some major attention: legs (LEGS!), arms, core, glutes. Flexibility and balance are also key focus areas at Barre3. I am used to spending classes counting down the minutes until it is over, but here I don't have time to think about it before we are stretching out and cooling down at the end. The instructors spend the entire class talking you through the movements and (more importantly, imo) proper form, walking around providing hands-on adjustments and encouraging you to push yourself to the next level. All of the instructors are great and I always leave having had a great workout. I took my first barre3 class with Paige Lester, and she kicked my a**! The class with a fairly quick pace with very upbeat music to keep us going. Paige helped me with some adjustments that I needed to make on some of the moves that I wasn't so familiar with (I'm new to barre). I think this workout was one of the best I have experienced during my studio workout experiment in terms of the burn - I could barely walk down the stairs last night, and I woke up feeling great this morning. The only reason I haven't given a 5-star is the amount of space in the studio. I understand the desire for an intimate setting, but I'm taller than the average bear and I had to relegate myself to a corner at one point because a latecomer came in and actually clawed me in the hand while we were squatting (due to how tight the class is). Other than that - the space is GORGEOUS, modern, and bright. I'm a happy camper, and will return. read more

My first time doing barre and it was a great experience! Perfect location as well! The place itself is beautiful, you walk up the stairs and the front desk area is gorgeous. Charo was at the front desk and she was very friendly. She gave me a quick tour of the space, which has bathrooms and changing rooms, as well as a day care for kids. I believe you have to pay extra for day care privileges but nonetheless, an awesome option to have for moms. The instructor of the class was extremely nice and came up to introduce herself and ask about any injuries or areas on concern. The class itself was unique and challenging. I don't have any other experiences to base it off of but I was definitely pushing my body and shaking and doing things I had never done before. Each class is different and targets different muscles. I liked this class in particular because it targeted muscles that aren't easy to target in a regular workout. The class was pretty full but I didn't feel cramped. I would definitely this studio and these classes to someone looking for a barre studio to go to regularly! They provide great customer service and remember the regulars! read more

I happened to be in town and decided to try a class here before hopping on a flight back to Hawaii. Best. Decision. Ever. I was completely blown away by how friendly everyone at the studio was and how fun the workout was. I took a class with Vanja who was incredibly sweet and literally took the time to say hello to each person walking into the class, as well as stood by the stairs to say bye and ask for feedback at the end of the class. Her class was a great workout, with a lot of cardio elements. As someone who regularly does barre 5x a week, I was surprised that I was super sore the next day. Also met two beautiful, sweet ladies at the front: Charo, an instructor who helped me with getting signed up and Margo, who is also an instructor. Can't wait to go to DC again and visit Barre3! Location at 14th and T is super convenient. A handful of the instructors are fantastic in my opinion, and none are awful. I tend to prefer a "hands on" instructor who will help you with posture and who will push you to go a little deeper, and have found that Vanja, Mina and Lindsey are my absolute faves. Charo is also excellent for combining more aerobic and explosive movements with the precise yoga and ballet type moves, and owner Alicia is a thoughtful and fun instructor. barre3 has proved over the last several years to be an excellent toning and strengthening workout for me, so doing it 2-3 times a week is convenient for my lifestyle AND for my health and wellbeing. I used to go to a personal trainer twice a week, and feel like with barre3 I'm getting 75% of the benefit of that model at 20% of the cost. I appreciate that the patter during the workouts is focussed on functional strength and balance, rather than on fitting into a bathing suit or the message of the songs that are part of the workout. I think that barre3 is great for people at a lot of different levels of fitness, and there are lots of "modifications" for varying the intensity of particular moves while still maximizing benefit at your level. That said, it is a fairly demanding workout and it is helpful to have some sense of rhythm (as the moves tend to correspond to the music) and some amount of strength, balance and endurance under your belt already. Nobody gets shamed! But keeping up and committing to giving it your best will help you get the most out of the class. Instructors are definitely good at responding if you need help to get into a particular move to maximize the benefit, either during or after class. Though I'm not a mom, I really appreciate that there is paid childcare provided for almost every class, and lots of people are taking advantage of it. read more

I got a one free class pass after completing my January 2017 31-day juice challenge as a courtesy of Barre3 & Jrink. This was my very 2nd barre class in my life. Scheduling the class was very easy, and the coordinator was helpful. The studio is located conveniently on 14th street, right next to Room & Board, in case you miss the door and staircase leading up to the studio. There are no lockers, but there are cubbies on 2nd floor and 3rd floor (in side of one of the classroom). I had Jasmine and she was great. She'd do all the postures with the students, so for us newbies, it definitely helped. One thing to point out was there are varieties of barre classes nowadays, some are still more ballet oriented while some aren't. The class I attended had less ballet elements in. What I thought was so sweet is I got a text and an email the following days from Barre3 seeing how my experience was. I haven't got back to them as I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that barre isn't really quite for me, though I do enjoy it and for anyone who'd like to try out barre, i'd recommend them checking this place out (child care service is provided too for those who need it). read more

I've been to several Barre3 studios and this is the best one yet! As far as the work-out goes, it's a personal preference. I am not really a fan of barre (I might go so far as to say I kind of hate it? Give me a spin class or paddleboarding any day over tiny controlled movement) but Barre3 is my favorite style of instruction as they blend yoga and pilates with barre. They also have a stronger emphasis on cardio, which is a huge plus in my book. So with that recap of the actual exercise out of the way, here's a few reasons why I'd pick this studio over the others. a. Centrally located on 14th street NW b. TONS of natural light making the studio a really warm and invigorating environment c. Friendly staff - I was welcomed by front desk, owner and instructor before class d. Childcare - a huge plus that five moms took advantage of during the class I took e. Sizable lobby and waiting area, plus two bathrooms and a changing room (a lot of studios can really skimp in this department). No shower but a nice array of products in the bathroom to help you freshen up after class. The studio just opened on March 7th and I'm excited to watch them grow! read more

I was lucky enough to attend a "free community class, thanks to YELP. Let me just say as a first-timer, I'm hooked already! As is, I'm a huge fan of Yoga, Pilates and Strength training. So, I've visited quite few studios around the DMV area since moving to the area a year ago. I particularly liked that I was able combine all of my favorite workouts into an All in One with this Barre class. If your goal is like mines - a strong, lean, balanced, feminine "yoga body", then I highly recommend you try a class. It was so much fun and the time flew by. The workout consisted of TINY movements: continuous squats, arm lifts, butt lifts using 1-3 lb weights, a ballet bar, and a cushy ball. It does burn/shake your arms, thighs and booty, but it's not that overwhelming pain where you're wincing in pain and feeling defeated. Instead, it's a good burn and welcoming pain because you feel totally awesome about doing something great for your body. Alicia, our instructor/studio owner was awesome. She was very graceful & athletic and instructed a perfectly flawless, but challenging workout. I liked how she tip-toed around the room ensuring that we were all in correct posture. Seriously, she has the stride of a ballerina. The studio is awesome - Quaint and very clean with TONS of natural light enabling energy and motivation to flow during the workout. It's an absolutely beautiful space. This is a workout that I strongly encourage you to try. I think you'll be hooked as well. I look forward to my next class. Namaste read more

Fell in love with Barre3's program in Georgetown, so i was elated when Alicia opened up her own studio just a stone's throw away from where i live! they consistently offer the best barre workout program in the city. I wish i had had the time and dedication it takes to become an instructor (they require a lot but it shows in the output). all of the instructors from whom i've taken classes--Alicia, Lindsey, Charo and Kate--are fantastic, and everyone is so friendly. The program is consistent enough in that there's a definite pattern to the class that allowsyou to get comfortable with the program. at the same time, they change up the exercises so you are never taking the same class twice. they offer a lot of modifications, so it'll be an effective workout for all levels. definitely give it a shot. read more

Barre3 is an awesome workout! I love how modifications are top of mind during all of the classes. If you are ready for a rocking playlist, to burn out your muscles and get toned fast then Barre3 is the workout for you. After one class you will be hooked! This studio is a little tight in the bag drop area, but other than that I love the "tree house" studio -- it's their studio on the top level. Amenities *water fountain *towels *shower *changing area You won't any lockers here. If you want to keep something close by, bring it into the studio and there are a few cubbies that you can utilize during class. read more

Amazing experience here! The brand new studio is beautiful, clean, and spacious. There is an adorable little area for kids to play/childcare, and the staff is wonderful! Our Instructor, Kate, was really nice, energetic, and helpful- she would come and gently adjust you to help you get into a deeper position. She gave options/variations for different exercises, which was great for if you have a bum knee or shoulder issues etc. Alicia was so so nice too- we had a great time! I love this barre studio! I use ClassPass and I've tried a lot of different barre studios in DC and definitely like this one the most. I find that it is the best workout- it incorporates the toning and strengthening of normal barre workouts with cardio. I always work up a big sweat, and always leave feeling so exhausted but also so relaxed and rejuvenated. The thing that differentiates Barre3 with other barre studios is the cardio aspect of it for me. We do a lot of full range motions with leg and arm lifts, so it is very aerobic and gets your heart rate going. We also do a lot of small range and isolated movements as well, like most barre classes do, but I like mixing up the small and large movements for a good variety. Towards the middle of class, there normally is a cardio intensive, tiring section where it is all large ranges of motion to get your heart beat up, but mostly throughout class, it will be isolations and pulses (small range) and then do large range exercises to flush out our muscles. This class gets my muscles and legs shaking like I've never experienced before! It is so challenging but such a good workout. It incorporates all muscle groups and we do exercises standing, with the bar, and on the floor with a mat to work legs, upper body, abs, and butt. My favorite instructor is Laura; she is super friendly, welcoming, and very motivating and positive. She pushes and encourages us throughout the whole class, and gives us alternative exercises and modifications if you have an injury or need to modify. She is great! I love this studio and these classes. Would definitely encourage you to try it out. I always leave feeling like I got a great workout in and just leave feeling in a better mood than I came! read more

The atmosphere is very warm, reception makes an effort to get to know you and everyone is genuinely positive. The vibe is high but not obnoxious energy. Nice and spacious studios in a beautiful walkup at the footsteps of one of D.C.'s most buzzing streets (14th street). It was my second experience with the Barre technique (the first being at a Pure Barre location) and it was totally different. The instructor makes all the difference...I took Vanja Amodeo's class and it was an eye opener. Vanja is warm and friendly but does not play when it comes to pushing you to your limits and beyond. Barre3 on 14th Street is the best Barre studio. The first time I tried it I was nervous, especially being a male. When I first walked into the studio I was welcomed with a smile and good morning, which made me feel less nervous. Each instructor brings their own workout flavor to the studio. Some instructors will make you smile and giggle away the good pain (pain is weakness leaving the body). Other instructors will be intense and make you feel like you can conquer the world. At the end of the class and when you are feeling amazing the instructors last words will always make you feel empowered, beautiful inside and outside, and ready to start the day right, or end the day releasing any stress or challenges that you may have had. We all go through life with challenging days or weeks and I can easily say that the instructors at B3 know how to focus on you and put all and if any challenges in their life aside and out of the studio. All the instructors are amazing but my favorite instructors are Vanja Amodeo, Sarah Peterson, Alicia (owner), Lauren Cook, Lexi Cafasso, Claire McCord, and Allison Del Castillo. They always pushed me past my limits. I rock a lot of studios but this is the one studio that will make you feel like a family member. The owner Alicia knows how to treat her staff and find talented instructors, which is the formula to running a successful studio and team. That is a gift to have and that inspires me to do the same in my company. The studio is not just about the workouts it is deeper than that. If you simply step back and observe for a few minutes how the owner and instructors operate in class, you will learn how to build a solid team, give outstanding customer service, push yourself past your limits, empower others, and give back to society. Applying any and all these steps to everything that you do in life will make you a very successful leader and person in any field that you are working in. All of the instructors are so talented, and will help you modify to accommodate for injuries. I signed up for the unlimited subscription and am not disappointed. I loved the studio, how open and airy it is. It's filled with natural light and exposed brick, so it's a very zen experience. Alicia is an incredible instructor as well. She remembered me by name from months ago, so I was immediately impressed. The class was tough and flowed nicely. It was an incredible workout and she is an encouraging teacher who moves around clad to make sure you are doing the poses right. I love Barre3!!! I've been a fan for a couple years now & every workout tests me in different ways. I was excited when this studio opened since it's easier for me to get to from my apartment. I went to a bunch of the underground classes (pre-studio opening) taught by the owner Alicia & I've been to many more since the studio opened. I've mostly taken the free instructor training classes, which are definitely a great way to get introduced to barre3 and give you a taste of different instructor styles. I'm already a member at another studio, so I limit myself to that, but generally I find their rates to be reasonable and there are plenty of options to accommodate any budget. My only issues with this studio are that #1- there's no shower. This is just an amenity that I've gotten used to at other studios, but definitely not a deal breaker since i usually come here after work when I'm headed home afterwards or on a weekend. #2- there are no lockers. There are cubbies to store your belongings, but they are not secure. I've never had an issue so it's not a major concern, but I'd still recommend traveling light since the space is limited. #3- Studio 2, the one right at the top of the stairs from the main entrance. If you are tall and in a full class in that studio, you may run into some problems. Personally if space is limited, I can angle myself better against a stationary wall over people so I aim for a corner. Best spot is definitely near the studio entrance door (trial and error!). None of these are deal breakers that would prevent me from going to or recommending this studio to anyone, but more observations that I feel are worth noting. The studio space overall is really nice & clean and brings in a lot of natural light (especially in the main studio). I'm excited to have this studio as another option in the DC area & I look forward to coming back for more classes! read more

You will feel welcome no matter what fitness level you are currently at, as it is a judgement free zone and you are encouraged to modify or take breaks whenever needed. I'm conflicted about my thoughts on barre3. It helped me get back into the habit of working out regularly, but it's no longer my favorite workout. Regardless of my personal feelings about barre3 the studio and staff here are wonderful! Everyone is super nice and make you feel so welcomed. I really appreciate that the instructors go out of their way to learn your name and encourage you throughout class. Even though I only went to this studio three times, the instructors treated me like I was a regular there. While this won't be my home barre studio - I live out in Arlington and it's a bit of trek for me to come here - I'll take classes here every so often. read more

Wonderful barre studio conveniently located near my office. I love how barre3 incorporates big and small movements in each class (unlike some other studios which heavily emphasize small movements). Generally more focused on legs and core than glutes and arms, but classes vary by instructor. They also offer community classes taught by instructors in training, which definitely aren't as challenging/polished as the other classes, but they are free!
