We ordered fresh pasta for lasagna and carbonara. The pasta was soft and tender. It was floured to prevent the pasta from sticking together. It cooks faster than store bought pasta, and you can definitely taste the freshness. We also purchased their homemade marinara sauce. It was sweet with a touch of garlic and basil. Our dishes, gnocchi with pesto and rigatoni with vodka sauce, were testaments to divine timing. Televisions streamed international news to a localized environment - Pope Leo XIV was all the rave. Witnessing the Vatican City celebrate its first American pope, a Chicago native, was the lunchtime content this meal required. My eyes drank in the truth, legacy is smothered in sauce! I called to ask about ready made entrees because my kitchen is being remodeled. The lady who helped me said she had loads of ready to heat pasta dishes, just take a look at the website, she said there's a full menu. OK, I'll be happy to do that. I figured the web site will give me everything I need to know. So, I go to the website but all they list is a bunch of pasta shapes, and some already made pasta dishes with no information. For example - I look up stuffed shells. Stuffed shells come filled with cheese, meat, spinach, or vegetable. No other information. I think the following information would be helpful: What kind of cheese is in the. Cheese Stuffed Shells? Approximately how many shells per pound? How much are these per pound? Do they come with sauce and if so, what kind? If I need to buy sauce, do you sell it and how much is it? What kind of meat is in the Meat Stuffed Shells and what other ingredients are in there? Price per pound and how many per pound? Sauce? This information should be included with every single pasta or pasta dish. There's no prices, no ingredients, no calorie count, no heating instructions. Nothing. I figure if they don't include any information they must not want or need the business because who is going to call and ask someone to read all that information? A few weeks later I decided to stop in and see if they have sauce. They had marinara and meat so I decided to get a pint of meat sauce. There are no ingredients listed, no packaged on date, no expiration date, no sell by, no use by, nothing except a tag reading "Meat Sauce". I heated up the sauce and put it on our pasta. It was so sickeningly sweet we couldn't eat it. So much sugar, I was really turned off. And it didn't taste fresh. It tasted old and funky. A couple of days later I called Pasta Fresh and spoke to a lady with an Italian accent. I asked if she knew the ingredients in the Meat Sauce and explained that we found it very, very sweet. She said she wasn't sure how much sugar was in the sauce, but not that much. I asked her if she usually found it sweet? She said she didn't know, and thanked me for calling. I'm disappointed. I don't need to tell you what the lady should have done, or anything like that. Not my job. But I will tell you that I won't be shopping at Pasta Fresh again, which is too bad, I live a mile from there and would have loved to frequent a small business in my neighborhood. read more

Agree with the other reviewer about labels on the frozen food. I bought some frozen minestrone and it listed ingredients but no packing date. The ingredient list didn't mention beans even though they were in the soup. Once defrosted and heated the soup tasted 'old'- and veggies in the soup were really soft and soggy. read more

First time here and decided to stop by since my boyfriend loves tiramisu (and it's almost his birthday ). Bring cash!! Or checks by the way. They don't have the prices labeled in their to go menu but it's relatively ~$13 per lunch to go plate. My server was super nice and was very helpful. He even gave me free focaccia bread to try while waiting for my food. He also picked my tiramisu for me too. So I ordered the pancetta ravioli and lo and behold got some bread again. Not sure if it's included but loved how there was some bread. The portions was decent for the price and I was full after eating 2/3 of the plate. Haven't tried the tiramisu just yet but will update this as soon as I can! It was about $12 for a rectangular piece. They did have houseware tiramisu and another company selling. A neighborhood staple for over 20 years now, I stop in here on occasion. It had been a while since i was in but the owner still remembered me as living up the street. I'm fairly certain that they used to be down the street but operate just fine where they are at now. It's a main stay to get your quick Italian needs and some delicacies. They have great fresh pastas and plenty of staples to get you through. If you call in and order fresh they made some of the very best panzerotti you're ever gonna get. Fresh, and light filled with just the right amount of cheese and sauce. You can order different varieties and can't go wrong on any. I love soups and stews. I went for the Pasta e fagioli (pasta and beans). great for cold winter nights. It used poor people food now selling mediocre versions at best in restaurants all over the place. Here at Pasta fresh for nine bucks you can get a large, fresh to go order good enough for two meals. Filled with beans and fresh pasta I think were like gemelli mini regati pasta. regardless of what it was it was FRESH homemade and plenty of it. The gentleman behind the counter threw in a complimentary homemade tomato Focaccia with my soup. Excellent warm with the Pasta e fagioli. You can't beat the price points either. The panzerotti here are just like my grandmother used to make. My mother died a couple weeks ago and we needed a quick meal when we went to the funeral home to take care of some of the many things we have to do. It is far from my home so it was great to have a quick bite before heading back home. They even threw in an extra bread for us and some tomato sauce on the side. Always enjoy this place but disappointed with my last visit in this new covid normal. They have a bunch of signs posted about masks, limits and social distancing, saying the right things but then don't follow. For example, when you touch cash with your bare hands (they are cash only btw) and then use the same bare hands to touch my arancini to wrap them, products, all inside of the bag, etc ... you can see the back/kitchen very clearly also, some have masks, some have them removed, some none at all, and then walk in the tiny ordering area and back without one either time, as one lady did when I was there... This was all right after they were telling me things have been ok, just have to use masks and gloves and do what you gotta do, and literally minutes later multiple people are touching my arancini with no gloves including the one who handled my cash and change. I took some of my family members from NYC and Kenosha, WI to Pasta Fresh for their first time. We are all of Calabrese descent so Pasta Fresh was the logical choice. Our pasta was cooked perfectly al' dente and topped with savory sauces and a basil leaves picked from the spice garden on the premises. There were four of us and we all had different dishes. I had Rigatoni Pomodoro, my sister had Fettuccine Bolognese, my aunt had Gnocchi alla Vodka, and my uncle had Ravioli alla Vodka. All of my family members commented it was the best pasta they ever had. Mind you, we were sitting in front of the store, inches from parked cars and eating from styrofoam containers (a sign of the times) and the pasta was, nevertheless, hands down the BEST! This was on our Saturday agenda to drive out here to understand the outrageously awesome yelp reviews. Upon entering the shop, we were slightly perplexed if this place served lunch onsite because we were here for that reason. The owner lady (Tina) knew immediately what we were looking for. She then quickly provided the lunch menu and gave her recommendations. They do have some seating inside their grocery shop. We had the spinach-pancetta rotoli and primavera rotoli ($6.99/each). The lunch option also includes the starter salad and focaccia. Let me tell ya. Italians can really chat and they can form a social circle anytime, anywhere. Hubby had great casual conversations with the owner (Tony) and Tina, in Italian of course (hubby grew up in Rome). Let's go back the discussion on pasta. Indeed, they were delicious! We also purchased the pesto sauce and more rotoli to-go. They are cash-only. I had an absolutely delightful experience visiting this gem of a store. First, the owner, Tony, his family, and staff are extremely kind and helpful. The food is spectacular!
