I've been here a couple of times now. I'm not usually a huge pizza fan, but this place has definitely impressed me. On my most recent visit, we stopped by on a Friday afternoon and ordered the fried calamari and a deep-dish pizza. Both were really good, and I especially enjoyed the pizza. One thing I noticed is that the toppings can be a little inconsistent at times. Some pizzas seem to have more meat and less cheese, while others have more cheese and less meat. Even so, everything I've tried has tasted great, and the quality of the food keeps me coming back. Overall, it's a solid place for pizza, and I'd be happy to visit again. read more

Likely the most underrated beef around. Even with Johnnie's across the street, they definitely lived up to an enjoyable visit. Johnnie's might consistently have a line, but there's no skimping on the beef here, like so many complain about lately out of Johnnie's. Very tender, thinly sliced and flavorful, with great heat out of the giardiniera. Super friendly staff and loved their covered patio. I'm so glad I finally got in here. read more

We went there on a Friday during lent and they had such an amazing pepper and egg sandwich which was on toasted garlic bread, it was delicious. We had a wonderful waitress, Rochelle and Rocco ( the owner) made us feel at home. I suggest the mussels as well. read more

Well usually when I come to dine in Elmwood Park for Italian I go to Jim and Pete's but I'm on a budget to be dining bougie Italian like that. I had seen a few small Italian food places near thyme and st Vincent Ferrer church and I didn't care for Johnny's beef or Burger moovement or new star Asian restaurant which I see is path and I'm not impressed by new star. I decided to try this semi casual Pizza pasta place called spizzico in which the pasta and some of the dishes are still quite expensive anything over $10 is expensive nowadays. However this is not too formal of a restaurant it's more casual for family to chill. Has that bar feeling but you could also eat outside or alfresco underneath an awning. Service is pretty much you order and then they bring it to your table but it's not a full service right now I had ordered a pasta dish I was going to go for alfredo but I wanted linguine with calamari it comes with a salad and I also ordered a bowl of minestrone soup and had a carbonated Italian mineral water. There is some time for them to cook for your food so service is not as quick especially for minestrone soup and salad but then again it's semi-formal of a restaurant and not as expensive as Jim and Pete's. Especially for pasta which all I cared for about spending more on tip I would come here again. Otherwise 3 stars not a perfect five because I was anticipating They would have brought the salad and minestrone soup first not wait and bring all those at the same time. That's why they're appetizer or anti pesto. The minestrone was decently good. The complementary salad was fresh in regards to the lettuce however too many croutons. Wish they put tomatoes. The bread was just a meh ok now the calamari linguine was very delicious with the fresh marinara sauce and the linguine was good. right to dente for the linguine pasta. This was the first time I tried Spizzico and ordered pizza for delivery on their website. I paid by credit card via their website. When driver arrived he insisted the order had not been paid for. I had a copy of receipt on my phone and he didn't even want to see it. He was extremely rude and I believe was trying to charge me again. He called and confirmed order was indeed paid while my pizza was getting cold. I called manager to complain and received no apology. Pizza was good but bad customer service. Would not recommend ordering from there for that reason. read more

Walked in with my sons and felt like I was home. As we waited for our food, the owner gifted us a free pizza! And when my son ran out of his drink, they gave him another on the house. The Minestrone soup is fabulous - one of the best around. It is filled with huge chunks of veggies, beans and a nice pasta. The eggplant parmigiana was not good. The eggplant was gooey and squishy as if it was sitting in a bucket of water before cooking. It wasn't even fried which is how I'm used to eating it. This is a counter service place where you walk in and place order at the front. There are a ton of options from salads, pizzas, sandwiches and full pasta meals. There are both indoor and outdoor tables and chairs, so very convenient to sit. Next time I will bring the pup. read more

This place has the best chicken salads I've ever had. I usually order a grilled chicken Cesar salad or grilled chicken salad. Their grilled chicken is never dry and tastes great. The romaine lettuce is always fresh. I've also had their chicken and vegetable plate which is great too. I've had only one of their pasta dishes which was the meat ravioli with meat sauce. It was good. I hope to try more of their pasta dishes considering it's an Italian restaurant, but I always come for their amazing salads. This was our second time here. The pizza is delicious! It is that tavern style with a great thin crust, nice gooey cheese, and flavorful toppings. We shared a baked rigatoni, because one of my clients recommended it, and sheesh it did not disappoint!! Nice layers of noodles sauce cheese and more cheese. We had the meat sauce, this time, might try the marinara sauce next. Generous portion, came with a small salad, amazing creamy garlic dressing, and a nice chunk of Italian bread. I hear the ribs are good, so we will definitely have to order those next time, too. The staff was kind, knowledgeable about their products, and service was impeccable. Take out review (Spizzico). I visited after passing this place more times than I care to admit. It is within striking distance of New Star Chinese, Johnnie's Beef, Massa and a sushi establishment. That said, I have walked over it many times with a plan to circle back. Christmas Eve was the day. I needed bread (with pepperoni of course) to coat my stomach for the evenings festivities. I ordered two slices of regular pizza (not thin crust or deep dish) and spicy wings. I would not order the wings again but the pizza was very good. A decent Italian spot with terrific 'za. My first time here I got a pasta lunch (spaghetti with soup and garlic bread) and was totally nonplussed. On a second trip, I got the slice + soda meal deal and found that much more appealing. Spizzico's hanging menus don't have prices on them, although the to-go menus do, which is odd. Plus points for having Fanta and Mountain Dew in retro glass bottles, and additional kudos for having packets of crumbled parmesan and red pepper flakes for carryout orders. Really, really great pizza by the slice. And they serve beer & wine! Also (and I won't dock them for this), most places won't require a credit card signature for purchases under $10, but Spizzico requires you to sign regardless of amount. A minor inconvenience, but by no means a deal breaker. Would return. read more

I first ate here way back in 2005, the food was very good and still is. The quality of the food has never diminished. I personally love the fettuccine calamari, while the wife likes fettuccine Alfredo. Sometimes on our way out, we also get a pizza to go. Good classic Italian food at decent prices. I found out about this restaurant thanks to one of my coworkers. He told me how good their food was and he always loved ordering slices of pizza with mushroom. I felt in love with the grilled chicken breast with sautéed vegetables the first time he brought me lunch and from there on I always ordered this dish. Best thin crust pizza around... super tasty!!!! Not a former "crust" girl till I tried this place, and I actually prefer the end pieces over the middle pieces. I deducted one star cuz when you order and pay for an additional topping, I think that topping should be on all pieces, not random pieces, cuz I end up getting about 1/4 of the pizza with just cheese. Also their penne vodka is superb, but you have to order that with extra garlic; otherwise it is bland. I just wish they would leave the tomato chunks out, as I have never had my pasta presented that way from any other establishment, but you can just remove that if you don't care for it, and definitely can't go wrong with the portion size they give you. As always, have to rave about their fab delivery drivers and the "newer" order-taking female since they sold the establishment. All class acts! read more

Came here for a nice lunch on the patio. The menu was expansive with so many options. I will say there is no pricing in the menu so I didn't like having to ask how much something was. It is a little higher priced for your standard pizza and wings. It is super delicious. We order wings and pizza. Wings were crispy and the sauce was so flavorful. The pizza was super fresh and hearty. The thin crust was amazing and the sauce robust. The serving tray was nice as well. We sat on the patio and it was a great view plus no issues with bugs or anything. Would return for another lunch visit. read more
