Doesn't look like much but this carry out pasta place is awesome. We had gnocchi, spaghetti, salad, garlic toast and a meatball sandwich. Everyone loved their food. Portion size is big so we had enough left over for another meal. Since they are cooking everything up as ordered just remember to give them 15 min of no one is waiting or longer if others are waiting. read more

This is a take out restaurant only: the host/waitress greeted immediately. It looked like a traditional Italian restaurant but didn't have dine in. The food:: Bread- garlic bread was perfect, buttery and crunchy and came with each meal. I wanted to try everything so we got the pesto and cheese bread. I do wish the breads were cut, especially bc it's take out only, and I cut with flimsy plastic knives. Overall they were evenly flavored & baked. The roasted pepper pasta was a great change to what we ordered. It was spicy and had a respectable amount of peppers. I was surprised with how much shrimp was in the Alfredo- nothing crazy in terms of seasoning but the sauce was great. Recently tried for the first time. I'm sad I waited so long. Our order had pasta Primavera, tortellini, and ravioli. Along with the pizza bread deluxe and some other things. The pizza bread was mediocre. But I have had great dreams about the garlic bread since. Look at my reviews I have never given a "best of" before, I've had a lot of pasta, some expensive, some cheap. The pasta here, in particular the meat ravioli with cheese sauce, is some of, if not, the best pasta I have ever had, and that, from me, says something. Job well done, I'll be back. We had heard that they had a great steak sandwich so we though we would give them a try. Decided on the Supreme Steak Sandwich (regular Steak Sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and mayo added), for the advertised price of $8.25. While we were waiting for our sandwich to be made I noticed that my credit card had been charged $10.34. When I ask the attendant about this, he said, "things have gone up, we had to raise our prices." When I showed his that the menu still listed it at $8.25 and it is listed at $8.25 on line, his reply was, "well, that's the way it is." The sandwich was good, the bread nice and fresh, the beef well seasoned, but the tomato was a letdown, it was a couple of cherry tomatoes cut in half. Here we come.....The Pasta Shop. Pasta, probably one of my least favorite dinners, but you're not here to listen to me complain. As we drove past to find a place to park, I kept repeating "keep an open mind, keep an open mind". What I love about this place is that it's one of the local, hole in the wall spots that really thrives because of the good food, not the fancy themed decor. Parking and seating is somewhat limited. A constant flow of traffic through the door kept most of the tables open inside. Real basic, definitely no frills. They have daily specials on the wall, as well as a list of their most popular dishes. It's not ALL pasta, they have some Italian soup and sandwiches too. The menu has a lot of things you'll find familiar like spaghetti or fettuccine alfredo, but there's also some dishes not available at your chain Italian restaurants. Staff is helpful but straightforward. Ask questions about the rare items and try something new here. Basic dishes were about $10 per person and come with some garlic bread. They have a few larger portions if you really wanna gorge. I got a regular and was full. Thief long pasta and all their sauces are home made. The rest of the items aren't but it doesn't take away from the flavor. I 4 starred this place even though I'm not a pasta fan, because it's a local armpit place with great food. That's what I look for. If it's mostaccioli with meat sauce or alfredo with my daughter, I'll be back! read more

Outside it is a janky looking second rate maintained old house... and inside it's far from tastefully "Italian"... and for some reason, they can never seem to make up their mind if they take orders at the counter or at the tables.. So, I think the food itself tasted really great! However, my friend and I have allergies. We ordered our meals specifically with our needed accommodations. We got our food, and it didn't look like the gf pasta they usually have. We took a small bite, and it didn't taste like gf pasta. So, I went back up and asked to double check that it was gf, the worker assured me that it was. So we trusted him and continued to eat our meals. We left feeling a bit off. Within 20 minutes of leaving I had hives, and my friend was experiencing extreme cramping. Two great pasta dishes are the cheese and meat ravioli. Each ravioli pocket is packed full with filling. The cheese ravioli is one of my personal favorites on the menu. Just stopped in with my oldest daughter who loves the gnocchi there. I tried their new Third Street Slider, which has giant meatballs with spaghetti sauce and cheese. Slider is a misnomer as this was a full sized sandwich! I forgot to get the Giardiniera peppers, mushrooms, and onions! Bummer. The sandwich was great and a must try and I rate it 4 stars--would have been 5 stars with the trimmings I forget to ask for. It was a pretty good portion and quite filling. read more

What an amazing little restaurant. Such a good find! It's in the downtown area of Marquette next to other nice places too. The restaurant is a quaint little place. It's small, nicely decorated and has the best pasta I have had in a long time. I have had the gnocchi here before and it was scrumptious. This time I tried the cheese ravioli with meat sauce and it was amazing! The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was on point. My mom got the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and she loved her dish too. They also gave us a delicious warm garlic bread with butter for days. You simply can't go wrong. Never had a meal we didn't like. Parking is a little tough when 3rd Street is busy but that fresh pasta is worth the walk from a parking spot a little farther down plus it feels like I'm walking off some of those devilish carbs when we walk back to the car. Best pasta in the area. Somehow when I went to school in Marquette I had never had Pasta Shop but now on our visits it's a must. We always get take out because it's a small place and we have small kids. Last time we couldn't decide what to get so we came back to our rental house with four entrees plus pesto bread. As an Italian who has been to many Italian restaurants all over the US as well as Italy, I have to say I was disappointed. I tried their linguine with white clam sauce and their gnocchi with meat sauce. Both were far from al dente. Some people may enjoy overcooked pasta but for me and most people who prefer a more authentic meal, this pasta was too soft. Also, they pile on a mountain of parmesan cheese making it very salty. The meat sauce was ok and the white clam sauce would have been fine if not for the added salt of too much cheese. The garlic bread that came with my meal was meh. Good garlic bread should have visible pieces of real garlic and perhaps some parsley. This garlic bread seemed to have been made with just butter and garlic salt. I've had better frozen garlic bread. I cannot speak about the inside of the venue since my fiancé was the one who picked up the food to bring home. I have yet to try other Italian food from the UP but judging from this place, I am deterred from trying anything else on their menu and will be looking elsewhere to satisfy my pasta cravings. read more
