Mexican bakeries are always tricky to review. First, I buy way to many items because everything looks good. Second, items sometimes look fantastic but are dry and flavorless. Third, other items look like boring buns that are filled with jalapeños and cheese or fruit fillings. So it's a mystery sometimes until you bite into something. Pastelicious is hit or miss with their pastries too. But it's not their fault, some pastries from Mexico just aren't as sweet as Americans are accustomed to. A cinnamon roll here will remind you in no way whatsoever of Cinnabon. But the pastries are unique and delicious in their own way. Worth a stop at this Mt. Airy bakery for some fresh baked goods, many of which are still hot if they are still on the metal rack. Provecho!

    Daily made, fresh bread!!

Very small shop, pastries are made in-house. The staff was welcoming & did not rush me to make a choice & pay.

People rave about the fruit pies here and maybe that's where I went wrong, because I didn't get a…read morefruit pie, but I am very sad that I had to give this place such a low rating. Walking into the bakery felt like stepping into a pastry lover's dream. The warm aroma of freshly baked bread and sweet confections filled the air, and the presentation was nothing short of picture-perfect. Every cake, pie, and cookie looked as though it belonged in a high-end magazine and I found myself salivating over every sweet concoction. But sadly, the taste didn't live up to the visual appeal. Despite the bakery's inviting atmosphere, the flavors fell flat, lacking the richness and depth I had hoped for. The confectionary sugars were tasteless and dry. It's frustrating when something looks and smells incredible but doesn't deliver where it truly counts--on the palate. We got the Cow Patty cake which is like a no bake cookie on top of a chocolate cake: the top was ok but crumbled when you tried to cut it, and the chocolate cake below was very dry from being overbaked. I was super excited to see she had Hot Cross Buns which I had always wanted to try but never found a bakery that sold them. Once again I was left very disappointed. The bun itself was very dry and the cross on top was so hard you could not eat it. I was literally able to peel the cross off the bun and it did not break. The last thing we got was what I think was a Chocolate Chunk Pecan Pie ??? It was like a chocolate chess pie with pecans and chunks of chocolate baked into it. Once again very disappointed. The pie should have been sweet but was very lack luster and flavorless. One bright spot, however, was the owner who was pleasant despite the culinary shortcomings. I appreciate her kindness and the effort she put into creating such a beautiful space, but when it comes to flavor, there's room for improvement. Here's hoping future visits bring a better balance between the bakery's stunning presentation and the taste of its creations.

The peach pie was good. My son loved his brownie and the whoopie pie was good as well. With so many choices it can be overwhelming so I would suggest batting a few mini pies.

I don't know if it was close to closing or what the deal was, honestly. Just unfriendly. We weren't offered to be helped quickly. Instead the workers just kind of stood around and piddled with other things and we had to just speak up and tell what we wanted, eventually. They had an interesting variety, as it is not the typical bakeries we see in this area, so that is a positive thing. The molasses cookie was so good, and I would go back just for that alone. Other than that cookie, I don't think I would make a special trip back. At least until they've been open a while longer.

I ordered the Meli Latte cold ( white chocolate, warm spices and Greek honey! Oh my for a coffee lover this is a yes for me! The warm spices pair so well with the coffee! I also ordered a huge cinnamon bun, it super soft and what you would want your cinnamon bun to be. I'm very pleased with the atmosphere, decor and vibe. Plenty of sitting area around the bakery. They had it all folks from macaroons, cookies, frozen meals like lasagna, candles and teas. Thank you for such a lovely stop with a few treats for the road back home to Kernersville.
