    Blueberry / Peach Sonker
    Chuck T.

Nothing outstanding. We had the Tig Ole Nachos and a Skiganator Burger. The nachos had way too much lettuce on top. So much, we thought it was a salad at first. The burger was pretty good. That's coming from someone who hasn't had Pimento cheese before. Finished the meal with a Blueberry Peach Sonker. Since it was my first Sonker, I guess it was good. The waitress was attentive and friendly.

Great little place tucked away in downtown, Pilot Mountain. Our drinks came quickly as did the food. They were somewhat crowded at noon so going during off hours would probably be best if you're not a fan of too much "coziness". The Margherita Flatbread was amazing as was the Southwest my spouse ordered. The tenders we received as an appetizer were equally tasty. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us regularly. Great experience all around!

Checked this place out for a quick Sunday lunch after visiting Pilot Mountain. Staff was polite but not very attentive. Food came out fast and was pretty delicious. Chicken fingers and chips were great. Club sandwich had a ton of meat, and the fresh fruit was really fresh. Hawaiian chicken sandwich good. If I am in town I would consider dining here again.

We were in Pilot today around lunchtime and decided to get lunch at The Tilted Ladder. We've been here a couple of times in the past and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately there are very few good restaurants, in my opinion, in the area but this is one of the good ones. Our waitress, Heather, was super. She made good suggestions and followed up to ensure that we were happy with the food. The burgers are definitely the best around and I highly recommend them. The inside of the restaurant is interesting and there's 10 TV screens around the wall and at the bar area. Since they are closed captioned it's not annoying to the customers who are not interested in watching the screens. Although they were busy today service and food was great.

Sirloin and hot honey chicken Alfredo a must!

Everyone was friendly. Service was great. The best fried pickles and sweet potato fries! Never had hot honey chicken Alfredo....I would definitely order it again.

My mom and I had plans for lunch but my work got in the way a little. So she rode along with me to Pilot Mountain to finish my work and then have lunch. Yelp lead us to The Tilted Ladder and I'm so happy we went! We were seated right away by a friendly server. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but the tilted chicken sounded just amazing so we both ordered versions of it. I got mine with hot honey and my mom got hers with gravy. It came on a bed of mashed potatoes that were so creamy and perfectly seasoned. We each got a side too. I got a salad and my mom some broccoli. I don't get up to Pilot Mountain much but I need to make another trip because just thinking about that chicken is making me want it again. The restaurant also has a full bar, a bunch of TV's and so many other menu items that anyone can find what they want there. The casual atmosphere makes it a fun and comfortable place to go have lunch or dinner.

We came here in search of sonker, but wanted to try the regular menu offerings as well. I was not overly impressed with my entree, the tilted chicken and the kitchen forgot the onion straws which is kind of a key dimension of the dish. Otherwise, it was cold mashed potatoes with an average chicken breast and very nice white gravy. I was feeling pretty meh towards the experience until the sonker came out- and wow is it good. It's only the second sonker of the numerous on the surry sonker trail we have tried but so far, it's ranked number one by far. Definitely different from a cobbler.

The staff is incredibly friendly. They have such a warm and inviting atmosphere, full of local pride. I decided to try their margherita flatbread, and although it had more of a pesto pizza vibe, it was still absolutely delicious. To start off our meal, we couldn't resist ordering three appetizers for just $14.99. We went with the onion petals, the chicken quesadilla, and the hot chips, and let me tell you, they were the highlight of the entire dining experience. The chicken quesadilla, in particular, was bursting with flavor and pure deliciousness. We also couldn't resist trying their boneless chicken, which had a perfect crispy exterior and a juicy interior. We opted to have the sauce on the side, and it was just as mouthwatering as the rest of the meal.

Drove past and turned around! Lori our server had a great smile and laugh. Relaxing atmosphere. A rude couple wanted sirloin tips and the sever explained they were fresh out . They left but were just plain rude. Server remained upbeat. We ordered our food , a Grandma style pizza drizzled with a hot pepper type honey (so good )and enjoyed it immensely along pretzel bites earlier while enjoying our drinks. Thank you

Driving home to pa from Carolina beach and we were all starving. My husband suggested this place. It's in a small town and I was definitely hesitant. The inside is kind of basic no frills. Booths and tables. TVs on the wall and bar in the back that has a female bartender with a shaved head and tattoos on her head. Ordered the three pick appetizer. The cheesesticks were phenomenal. Homemade chips good. And onion petals tiny but good. I got the cardinal burger. It was not cooked the way I wanted (overcooked) BUT it was still amazing. The chili was super hearty and homemade tasting. SALAD DINNER (Cesar and chicken) WERE AMAZING according to my spouse. Kids got Philly and grilled cheese. They liked it. Portions were good. Service was BOMB and super fast. Literally....we will make this a stop every time we are coming through this area!!!!! Did not disappoint. Oh and the homemade dressings (cilantro and the ranch) were soooooo good!

Very cute place with excellent food!! The menu is very expansive with everything from sandwiches, burgers and wings to steak, chicken and seafood. Our server Savannah was on top of it keeping our drinks full and checking on us often.

When we walked in for dinner it was crowded so we sat at the bar and ate our dinner. As it turned out this was the place to be. The bartender is quite good at his craft. It was fun to see him make and Old Fashioned with the fanfare of the smoked drink under glass. Then someone ordered a cherry Manhatten with a smokey bubble in the glass which popped when presented. I was impressed as I had never seen that technique before. I'm totally ordering again next time I come! Behind me was a long table and on top shooting flames enclosed in a long glass fireplace. Really quite a centerpiece with people dining around each side of it. I wanna bring my friends and sit in front of it, so cool! I ordered a petite filet that was tender and delicious, just the right size when you don't want a huge meal. I ordered a grilled romaine stock as a side. It was better than Ive had in the past. Lightly oiled and grilled not charred. I ordered a baked potato as my side to go w my filet. Quite pleased w my choices. The environment is cozy and the staff and guests are friendly. Next time I'm in King this is where Im going!

So make sure you arrive a few minutes early for your reservation just for parking sake. The space, however, is beautiful inside. Very roomy and dark, romantic vibes. I also love the little fireplace along the long table in the front. Our service was also exceptional. Our waiter made great recommendations and was very accommodating. Isaac was a true gem. The food was really outstanding for a steakhouse in little ol King. We started with bread service but they served it with cold butter which we all know won't spread well. Easy enough fix. The pot roast nachos could have used more cheese, namely a melty cheese but the roast was cooked expertly. So tender and juicy. The rest of our group thought the calamari was overcooked but I didn't mind it. The crab dip was my favorite app, perfect in every way. My ribeye with Mac and cheese and collard greens was superb. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Mac and cheese was creamy and the collards had a kick to it that I enjoyed. I liked the brownie dessert but it wasn't anything special. My blood orange margarita was also very good. Overall I highly recommend The Mercantile if you want to eat somewhere off the beaten path. I can't wait to bring my husband back for date night!

He made sure everything was perfect! We started off with the Cheese Sticks with both ranch dressing and marinara sauce! The marinara sauce was really good! The fries were a bit too salty, but they were perfectly cooked and served hot! I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with their homemade chips! I ordered an extra side of dressing for both my sandwich and the chips. I just cannot rave enough about how amazing my entire meal was! Those chips were PERFECT!!!! It was very cold where we were sitting and the server allowed us to move to a warmer spot. We ordered a fried mushroom appetizer. This was very good. They came with ranch and I think it was the horseradish sauce. The orangish sauce was very good. I ordered 1/2 rack of dry ribs with mac & cheese and green beans, and 2 hushpuppies. You get a choice of Texas toast, hushpuppies, or rolls. My coworker ordered salmon. When the food came out, my ribs were wet. I told the server that I had ordered dry rub. He stated they were dry but had sauce on them. I'm sorry, that is not a "dry rib", in my opinion. The first piece of rib meat I ate was soft and juicy. The next two were super dry and I could not eat any more of them. My coworker joked that that was probably what they were referring to when they said "dry rub". The green beans were ok. I added a ton of pepper and some hot sauce. I saved the mac & cheese for lunch the next day. The hushpuppies were dense and needed a little more flavor. My coworker commented that her salmon was ok but nothing to write home about. I should have went with my first instinct and ordered from the kids menu. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is nice.
