This is a great locals restaurant with lots of affordable eats and daily specials. We ordered the Thai Chili wings as an appetizer and the Grilled Chicken Salad and Center Cut Pork Chop for our entrees. The wings were nice and had a little pop of heat to balance the sweetness. The grilled chicken salad was good, as was the pork chop-maybe a bit heavy on the salt. Service was extremely friendly with Jordan taking great care of us. read more

This was a really nice dinner in a really nice small town. Friendly, local, delicious. Mrs. K. chose the crabcake sandwich which she said was delicious. All crab with very little filler on a great bun. The fries? Well, I did have a couple of them and they were excellent. Crisp and salty perfection. For main, I chose the wings. Nicely fried, not bathing in sauce, and the hot had just enough hot to them to be tasty and still have some flavor. Nicely meaty. We opted not to have dessert this evening at this lovely restaurant. Wonderful hidden spot on the river that has the combo of great service, good food, good drinks and it's affordable. The staff and owner are great. We were day tripping in Mt Airy and decided to try Chase & Charli. It's located about a mile from downtown and was a great experience. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the grilled salmon on top of a salad. The salmon was grilled and seasoned perfectly. The salad was very flavorful with cranberries, walnuts and feta cheese. I opted for ranch dressing which tasted home made. All was freshly prepared and totally awesome. I'd never heard of a wine slushy but this was absolutely a great combination of pina colada and wine!? What? Sounds weird but it was the bomb! Our server took very good care of us and hubby enjoyed his salad and blt. Would definitely come back when in the area. read more

WHAT A GEM OF A FIND! This is a great family friendly place! The service was excellent, Logan served us promptly at the small bar in the back. It was just me and my husband and we were looking for some tv and locals to chat with. Everyone was engaging and super friendly. It was our anniversary and we had been without power for over a week due to hurricane Helene. The Manager heard that and gave us a free dessert. I chose the Lemon pound. Omg! It was moist and delicious! Let me tell you about our meals. We had the spicy fried pickle chips for a starter... but awesome! I had the Hurricane Chicken and Fresh Crab cake over rice smothered in HOMEMADE Alfredo sauce with grilled asparagus. This was such a unique and delicious meal. The wine selection was pretty extensive for a local family joint and half price wine on Wednesday! We were lucky enough to be there on Saturday night, which is Prime Rib Special! Yelp, you let me down on this one. Arrived and pleasantly greeted, told to find a table. All empty tables were dirty, we picked the one with the least amount of trash. Server arrived and wiped the debris onto the floor, something we saw repeated as other diners arrived. No attempt to clean open tables before diners sat down. Took our drink order, which came out quickly, the highlight of our stay. Ordered wings and homemade chips, these took a while to arrive. The chips were decent. The wings, dry. No discernible sauce on them. No plates to eat them off of, just a pair of napkins and a fork each. Conversation was difficult, noise from other tables made it almost impossible to hear without shouting ourselves. We decided to cut our losses, got a couple of to go boxes, drove home and made sauce for the wings we spent $27 on. Talk about a HUGE SURPRISE!!!! Upon entering the restaurant the hostess greets you with a big smile and is oh so friendly. Not even 3 minutes later the waitress swings by to get drink orders. When she came back I asked her about their wine slushies so she brought my wife and I out some samples to try. THOSE WERE AWESOME!!! My wife and I aren't huge wine fans, but HOLY SMOKES!!! My wife ordered the wine slushie and I kept the Dr. Pepper so I could drive us home. When the waitress came back to take our orders she was so sweet the entire time. I asked her if she had to choose the mushroom Swiss burger or the pimento cheese burger which would she choose? She said the pimento cheeseburger for sure! So I took her recommendation and ran with it. Well, her recommendation DID NOT DISAPPOINT! They placed the toppings on perfectly and the burger wasn't falling apart all over the place, and I really liked the buns they were using. My wife got the Alfredo crab cake and chicken. Good golly was that amazing too!!!! The looks ain't much in regards to interior and exterior, but that food is a 10/10 along with the amazing customer service provided by the 2 gals we interacted with today. Decent, not spectacular fare from outside TV's Mayberry, Mt. Airy, NC. Pros: nice bar restaurant with a ton of outdoor seating and a great, friendly, competent staff. When someone takes your meal order without writing it down, that is a good waitress. Their homemade potato chips were awesome, nice and thin and crunchy. Typical bar menu, but with some foreign flavors like Korean steak and jerk chicken. Cons: when I saw deep friend pickle slices I got excited. But some of them were, sadly, undercooked. My burger was medium rare, but juice from the burger ruined half of the potato chips, made them soggy. Runny burger is a no-no. Summary: I REALLY wanted to give 4 stars, I truly did. A little improvement on the food prep is all that is needed. Pro Tip: this place is top-tier when it comes to putting an egg on a burger. Under the cheese, cooked just right the yolk is runny. There's a river (Ararat River walk) that runs next to the restaurant with a walking trail which goes several miles in either direction to walk off your delightful meal. I'm going to start this review by saying I've worked in the service industry for over half my life. I tend to be pretty lenient and understanding of when it comes to servers and bartenders. I've worked in every single part of the restaurant including managing restaurants for the last 11 years. The fact that I try to understand what is going on with the server... and our server who finished serving us is why I'm giving this place two stars. We were sat and waited a while for our server, who went to a table that was sat a few minutes after us first. We asked about draft beers but she didn't really know much. This is as simple as writing down the drafts in your server book, let's be honest. We ordered our drinks once she came and were ready to order entrees but she was gone before we could say anything else. When the drinks came out we went on to order our entrees and an app. The server wasn't writing anything down. If you can't remember stuff, just write it down. No one is going to be mad that you're writing an order. That's what most servers do... and in this case the lack of order writing did not prove to be in the server's favor. We always try to order everything at once (sauces, etc) to make it easy. We ordered waters as well when we ordered our entrees since they didn't bring any with the drinks. It's 85 degrees out. I feel like waters on a patio should be common sense. Honestly water with any alcohol if someone is eating food should be common sense. Entrees came. Sides of sauces were missing. Appetizer of potato skins came out at the same time.... There wasn't any sour cream. Waters never came. We asked for a the sides of sauces we originally ordered then watched the waitress come out multiple other times and never bring the sauces. We were pretty much done with our entrees by the time she checked on us and we asked for the sauces again. At this point the food was getting cold. Another server ended up taking over, probably because we were clearly annoyed. The original server never apologized for messing up. All of this would have perhaps been avoided if our server would have just used a pen, pad, and a server book. Also when you have a section that isn't near the kitchen or inside the restaurant you should work that section and then go back inside. We watched this server do one thing at a time on several trips outside rather than checking on multiple tables. Just check/ observe all of your tables, then go inside and grab what you need and come back out. The food here probably would have been great but the service was crap and we couldn't even tell if our food was good because it was no longer hot by the time we got everything we needed. Mount Airy can do better, especially as a touristy town. read more

The only place in town with homemade hand cut French fries. Burgers are excellent and the hot dog was huge. Had it with "the works" and the chili on it was definitely homemade as well. This place is cute and sits next to the "river?" that looks like a creek to me! Haha! Food is not great, fries were really greasy as was the chicken wrap. Patio is ok, not very clean. Bathroom is so small, reminds me of an airplane bathroom. Waitress was nice. Never asked if we needed any more to drink or if we needed anything at all..... until we asked for our check! Called in an order for carry out. Was greeted upon entry. Paid for my order. The cashier then went to see if it was ready. I started to sit on one end of the bench where an employee was laid out. Keep in mind I'm still in front lobby area. I noticed she had her palm to forehead as if checking temp. I quickly moved away in case she had Covid or any transferable illness. I asked if she was sick and was told by a different employee it was her time of the month. Really, we check temperatures, palm to forehead, for that. My food came out, I took it and hurried out. The to go container did not have divided sections; the three foods moved to one side of the container and all covered in sauce. Visually, rather nasty. Asparagus ends were not snapped off leaving a rather chewy stringy awful mouthful. Main concern, why was the sick employee allowed to lie down on a bench in lobby area? Why was she not sent home? She was of no use to the establishment and a possibly transferring illness to other employees and customers. read more
