Downtown Sarasota is just wonderful, the shops, the food, really friendly people. We sought this out based on others' reviews. Very pleased. Friendly, fast, counter service; there was a line, be patient.. Most pastries are big enough to split. Great coffee, serve yourself brewed and great barista service. They carry Black Gold Coffee Roasters beans so you don't have to drive to Venice for those. I think we had breakfast here 3 times. Convenient outside seating available, the store is a little small.

Cutest little local spot with indoor and our door seating! The inside has plentiful seating in a welcoming environment and outside gives Parisian coffee shop vibes. The food was delish but simple, but the rye bread was the winner hands down. Service was quick and the girls working were so sweet and accommodating as we came in after the breakfast rush and some of the pastries had been sold out! Highly recommend for a stop in when you want something delish!

Great location downtown. The staff is just wonderful! It's always a friendly hello with a smile. Dog friendly.

Stopped by on a Thursday for lunch. Had a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, tried a Carmelo latte and grabbed a couple chocolate cookies to go. The cookies were delightfully soft and large. Sandwich was great, had grapes and the perfect amount of crunchiness, warmth and flavor. Came with chips. Carmello was quite sweet though I ordered it with half as much flavor syrup as usual.

An amazing shop with delicious food and unique coffee creations! The staff is splendid! Alison and Vidalia are always welcoming you in with a smile.

It has potential but I can name a few better coffee spots off top of my head in DT Sarasota. The good: good location, right next to the market on weekends. Great selection of pastries. Wide selection of coffee drinks, and separate craft latte menu with creative flavors like PB&J, cinnamon roll and more. The bad: it's kind of pricey. Craft latte is $6.49, just about when you thought that Starbucks got expensive this place has prices even higher. It tastes good, don't get me wrong -- we tried PB&J in hot version and cinnamon roll in iced version and enjoyed them both, but come on. Moving on so Suntan, which is lemonade with a shot of espresso. Also not cheap, but this much be the worse lemonade with espresso I've tried. It's a popular drink and I enjoy it, very much refreshing, but they serve it with lemonade that is just waaaaaay too sweet. That overly sweet lemonade taste does not mix well with espresso, the sweetness needs to be toned down. If you've never tried this drink don't do it here because it will disappoint. Finally, I had bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and I thought it was a good value until I got it in my hands. Tiny. Tasted good though. Needs to be double the size, however. So if you crave for a latte with unusual flavor, sure go ahead and pick one from the craft latte menu, it'll cost you but at least it's unique. Otherwise I just can't think of why would I come back here.

Every time I'm around downtown Sarasota I really try to stop in and get something from here. I love their pastries and most of all I love their blueberry muffins and their coffees. Their hot sandwiches are also really good so I highly suggest getting that but if you like pastries, I will go for the muffinsfor sure.

Chicken salad sandwich, breakfast bowl, matcha, iced latte

Vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was very thoughtful and accommodating. We started with the breakfast bowl, chicken salad sandwich, iced latte and matcha. The barista, Chloe did a beautiful job at crafting our beverages, as pictured. It was the perfect spot for a light breakfast or lunch. The star of the show was the chicken salad sandwich. There's so many fresh bakery items to choose from, we ordered the blueberry muffin, spinach feta croissant and blueberry donut to go. I already dipped into the feta and spinach croissant and will definitely be back for more!

Delicious food and sweets, and great coffee. Tim is the star of the show here. So kind and cheerful. He keeps the line moving and yet makes you feel welcome and the center of attention. He's knowledgeable on the menu and makes suggestions if you're undecided. This is always my first stop during Saturday's Farmer's Market.

Good place to just get a sweet tooth fixed. It's not expensive food's good You can sit indoors or out. The men use not too crazy where you can actually take your time and find something which is a good thing. One of the owners are there. They'll help you talk you through whatever you need

I will always Stan C'est La Vie in Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch. This location is always busy so get…read morethere early if you have your eyes on a specific pastry. Actually, just get there early anyway because the pastry items are fresher/better. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I typically skip trying to park next to it and just go to the garage and walk over. The service is more attentive than a typical French cafe overseas but not as on top of you as a typical place in the US. You can definitely order at the counter in French if you want to and I've had a waiter there flip between English, French, Spanish, and another language (maybe Romanian?) in one order. The sandwiches I've had were all lovely, and had a little side salad that could benefit from a better dressing (they serve an okay vinaigrette though). I've yet to encounter a single bad pastry - the elcairs, mousse cakes, and flaky pastries like chausson pommes are on par with the typical boulangerie/pattisserie in France and don't make me think US adaptation at all. Prices are reasonable.

If you want to be transported straight to a sidewalk café in Paris without leaving Sarasota, C'est…read moreLa Vie is the place. It's a small, quaint spot with an amazing atmosphere, but definitely be prepared to wait if you're coming for brunch it's very popular for a reason! The wait was absolutely worth it, though. I started with a cappuccino, and it was perfection rich, smooth, and exactly what you need to wake up. For food, the savory crepe was outstanding. It had that perfect authentic texture slightly crisp on the edges and soft in the middle. I also tried the cauliflower soup, which was a surprising highlight. It was incredibly creamy and flavorful honestly, one of the best soups I've had in a long time. Highly recommend this gem if you're in the area!
