You can tell they use high quality ingredients since the iced cafe mocha had chocolate flakes in them, but somehow managed to accent the beverage perfectly without making it too sweet. The owner mentioned she gets her croissants from Europe and does the filling and final baking on premises to serve it hot. I stopped in needing to use the restroom and was completely willing to make a purchase. The gentleman behind the counter told me that I needed to spend more than $8 in order to be served and use the restroom. No problem--I agreed and attempted to purchase more than $8 worth of cookies directly from THEIR bakery counter. Then, unbelievably, he STILL refused to serve me and suddenly told me that I had to order food. So which is it? Spend more than $8, or order a meal? You cannot tell a customer exactly what they need to do, have them agree to do it, and then change the rules and refuse to serve them anyway. The entire situation was absurd. I wasn't asking for anything for free. I was standing at the counter, money in hand, ready to spend more than the amount I was specifically told was required. I simply wanted to purchase cookies that THEY had displayed for sale. Apparently, even being a willing, paying customer wasn't enough. The way this was handled was dismissive, unwelcoming, unnecessarily difficult, and completely lacking in basic customer service. A simple transaction that should have taken two minutes turned into such an unpleasant experience that I walked out without spending a dime. If this is how customers are treated, I have absolutely no interest in ever returning. There are far too many bakeries and cafés that actually appreciate their customers to waste your time, money, or patience here. I would strongly recommend SKIPPING THIS PLACE and going somewhere else. A business can have great products, but if customers are made to feel unwelcome when they're literally trying to give you their money, none of that matters. They didn't just lose an $8 purchase--they guaranteed that I will never spend a dollar here in the future. I decided to try the newly opened Bungalow Bagels, located on Siesta Key just south of the south…read morebridge in what is called the Southbridge Mall. It is inside a courtyard so not visible from the front parking, and it has been found. While I was there, I saw a steady stream of customers come in to get cans of drinks and bags of food. Bungalow is a small place with three tables inside, and there are more tables outside in the courtyard, a pleasant place to enjoy your purchase. Cans of drinks - this is a very interesting thing they offer. These are clear cans that Bungalow fills and seals, containing either a cold brew of your choice or other refreshing drinks. Convenient to transport without spilling and to keep in a cooler for a visit to the beach. As for my visit, I didn't take advantage of either a canned drink or the outdoor seating, deciding instead to sit inside and watch as I ate my Big Kahuna breakfast sandwich. What I saw was nice experiences all around, a positive and efficient staff taking orders and putting out food, short waits, and happy customers. I saw cans and cans of drinks going out the door. My Big Kahuna was a little messy and very good. According to their menu it is a two egg bagel sandwich with cheese and your choice of meat, my pick was their made specifically for Bungalow sausage patty. You have your choice of bagel, I went with Everything. Using two eggs instead of one must have made this bagel sandwich substantial, because it was plenty of food for me. For my bagel I picked The Basic Beach, which is Egg and Cheese on a Bagel. I picked Asiago for my bagel and it was a delicious and cheesy combo! It's a smaller shop with limited seating inside and plenty of seating outside, but due to the inside being full and rainy weather we ended up taking our bagels to the car to eat. They had some really fun Bagel Signature Sandwiches and I'm looking forward to trying another one on another trip to Sarasota.
