I opted for a straighter, colored style. I relaxed my hair with a boxed kit. It was cute so I decided to add color to make it pop. Another boxed kit. It popped right off my head, breaking off from the back. While searching for a good braider and waiting for an appointment, I wore headband wigs and experimented with clip-ins. After thoroughly researching salons and shops, I found Yummie Braids. I asked around and only a couple of people had heard of them and agreed that their work was good. I booked online and shared my hair issue with my braider. The day of my appointment I prayed that blessed hands would style my hair and that it wouldn't take as long as people were saying. This is my first time ever getting knotless braids. I was warned that this could take all day. The shop is absolutely beautiful and they even have braid camps. My braider introduced herself as Carol and we spoke briefly. She was a calm spirit and had me falling asleep in her chair. I could feel the braiding but it didn't hurt me. Every now and then I would peek in the mirror that was across from me. We started at 7:30a and she was done by 11:40a. I did not eat one snack, take one sip or use the bathroom. Nor did she. Love my protective style, Carol encouraged me to keep my scalp moisturized by adding a light oil twice a week. Use the pads of my fingers to stimulate the follicles. Do not keep the braids in longer than ten weeks and watch my hair grow.

A few weeks later, I returned to the salon with my middle daughter. Her blow dry & silkening process had our hair bouncing for days, even in the heat and humidity (neither one of us has a relaxer). Ashieka has been running some AMAZING specials to highlight her return to the salon. I strongly suggest checking them out. I managed to snag a FREE sew in and I've been getting a ton of compliments.
