Nice location on a quiet street corner. We both ordered the trout dinner that was fresh, but lacking flavor. Should have ordered a meat dish.

Romantic spot near the Condesa neighborhood. My hunny and I wanted a dinner that satisfied both of our tastes meat and seafood. I love Argentinian style food, so this was a perfect place. There are a lot of options to choose from for starters and entrees. You could get away with ordering several things and sharing. I could have tried many of their empanadas but I opted for the mushroom and provolone. It was a different look cooked open face but still delicious. I paired it with a sangria that was delicious and smooth. For an entree I got the octopus! I have had it before in restaurants in the US but loved it here. They made it with real mole sauce with a cream. It was very flavorful and not rubbery. It was paired with potatoes. The potatoes were a little overcooked but it did not kill the dish. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. There were many people out walking their dogs. I loved it.

We walked by here the other evening and decided to come back for dinner. Cordial greeting...yes, we're tourists and my Spanish is not very good. Our server was courteous and attentive, but his English abilities matched my Spanish so we got along fine. Ordered a great Malbec and we started with the carne empanadas. Very flavorful meat in a pastry that was baked! I've only had them fried and these were delicious! I could come back just for these and some wine! It also came with some crisp potato chops with tomatoes and purple onions. We both ordered the steak and it came with some great roasted potatoes, yams, and onions. The steak was well seasoned and cooked a little more rare than the medium we asked for. The steaks had a little more fat than we liked. The low lit ambiance on the patio didn't allow us to see just how fatty they were. We were also give an assortment of breads with a delicious chimichurri sauce. For dessert we ordered the lemon creme brulee which I felt had a little lavender infused in the caramelized sugar and the choco one that sort of reminded us of cookies and cream, but chocolate. Very dense and rich mousse layered with chocolate cookies? cake? brownies?...whichever, it was very good! This was a very satisfying and delicious meal! I would definitely come back the next time I'm in town!

I spent about two months in Mexico City Without a doubt, this was one of my favorite restaurants!! Everything here was incredible. Absolutely delicious!! I would highly recommend the empanadas, and the milanesa.

Absolutely loved the food! The restaurant is located in a nice area. Every thing that we ordered was very good! The empanadas were all delicious. The Argentinian sausage was great! The drinks are amazing and loved that a woman with an alcohol cart came around and made mixed drinks! The staff is friendly!

Ok, so I'm not one that normally likes to give bad reviews, but this place was not my favorite. After eating here, I had GI issues from Monday until today (Friday), and my bf got sick as well, but luckily for him it was only one day. We had the mollejas, which were decently cooked but under seasoned as an appetizer. I had the pulpo and he had the veal osso bucco. The pulpo was okay- needed salt or some seasoning, but his fish tasted like it had been inadequately reheated with a wine reduction or something to the side that was very offputting and almost smelled like it had gone bad. Neither of us finished our dishes. We each had one drink, and they were completely watered down and mostly flavorless. I would not recommend this place to anyone, unless you want to get GI problems. If you choose to visit, consider yourself warned.

The steak is mouth watering good, but the sides and empanadas are where this place shines. Try the ham & cheese empanada, the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. Wash it down with some Malbec and you are golden. Also, request the enchanting patio if possible. Gorgeous setting!

First attempt at medium-rare ribeye steak. Overcooked, tough, bland.

Worst steakhouse I've tried in Mexico City. I ordered a medium-rare ribeye (which they call a New York steak for some odd reason). The steak they served me was a joke. A thin 1 inch cut of low quality beef that was already cooked well done when it reached my table on a sizzling plate. If 7-11 or gas stations served steak I would imagine this is the quality you would get. I showed the server that it was overcooked and he took it back to the kitchen. They made me another steak but it was raw in the middle this time (see pictures). I paid my bill and left without eating. They didn't offer to take the steak off my bill. Avoid this place.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Great location. I certainly recommend to anyone traveling in the area. Argentine food is always a good choice for meat eaters and this place is exceptional. Sadly we only did beer not wine but it also looked/smelled amazing. Show up with a healthy appetite and the expectation to be served a great meal by a great staff.

Ask for salt service and they bring out a variety of salt to try on your steak, not that it needed it, just fun to try. The octopus was delicious too. So tender. The bone marrow tacos were good but very rich. But the end of our rich meal, we were t able to finish it. They finished it off with some fresh hot churros for us. Great experience! It's dressed like an ok place, with murals, writings on the wall and sturdy wooden furniture. Aiming for that Uruguayan gaucho look I think. Oh and no restaurant would be complete without some big TV's with live performances of latin-american pop stars. Prior to eating here, I was inclined to make a reservation to ensure a table for us. "Silly Europeans!" my Mexican friends said laughingly, "... you don't need a reservation!". And right they were. The place was practically empty on a Wednesday night 8 pm. Lucky for us, cause it meant we were attended to promptly. The waitress was funny and helpful and explained everything we wanted to know about the things on the menu. The empanadas we ordered as appetizers were big and flavorful. Enough to satisfy me on a night when I wouldn't be terribly hungry. Soon after that the meat arrived. Again, huge portions of meat with sides of fries or salad. Mine was tasty, although overcooked and not 'rare' like I ordered it. One of my friends seemed to be eating mainly fat, as half of his cut was fat and therefore inedible. Pity. None of us could finish our main meals, by the way. So they offered kindly to wrap them up to take home. But as any human being knows, there's always room for dessert! Cue the - I bet you already guessed it - HUGE piece of chocolate pie. Split four ways to compensate for its dietary damage, but still we weren't able to finish it. It was definitely delicious though (chocolate with dulce de leche). But I think that's what my main beef is with this place: the insane portions. I'm just not such a big eater, so that might be part of it, but normally I have no problem finishing a meal. Mainly though: should you aim for quality or quantity? Personally, I'd think quality. Here at Don Asado I feel like they aim for more of a middle way. The quality isn't bad, but the quantity is too much. Compensate a little on the sizes of the meals, and I think you could gain a little more quality for the same price. If so, I'd definitely come back for some more of that divine chocolate cake.
