Once upon a time in a land called GeorgeTown, there was an adventure that left me both embarrassed and starstruck! Before stepping foot into this store, my friend and I devoured a delicious early lunch filled with oysters, shrimp, and all the local favorites. Little did I know, my stomach had its own little plan brewing after lunch. As it really didn't sit well with me and my poor tummy started rumbling like a volcano about to erupt! Thankfully, my friend Nihar needed to buy a winter parka, and lucky for me, Patagonia has a bathroom. It was like the universe was conspiring in my favo, as I quickly rushed up stairs. The bathroom was surprisingly clean and well-stocked with soap and toilet paper. But here's the catch - the acoustics in there were something else! It felt like my stomach's symphony was echoing through the entire store. ! Desperate to drown out the embarrassing sounds, I turned on some tunes and let the water run from the faucet m. But let's face it, you can't hide the truth forever and you've just got to go....After enduring my own personal "bubble guts" concert, I realized there was no air freshener in sight (sorry, staff!) and felt terrible for the next person who would have to endure this bathroom.... I took a deep breath and decided it was time to make a quick exit. As I hurriedly opened the bathroom door, I almost collided with none other than Adam Sandler himself! Yes, you read that right, THE Adam Sandler! My jaw dropped to the floor, and in a panic, I slammed myself back against the bathroom door. As there was no way I was going to let Adam witness the aftermath of my bathroom symphony and I was convinced he'd make a joke about me on his next show! But you know what? I gathered all my courage and casually greeted him with an "oh hey, Adam." and to my surprise, he responded kindly and moved along, saving me from any potential embarrassment. Phew! After escaping the bathroom fiasco, I made my way downstairs to join my friend Jesse, who was stuck on a conference call. Meanwhile, my other friend bombarded the staff with a million questions about their precious parka. I must say, the staff handled it like pros, remaining super friendly and helpful throughout the entire time. They even managed to maintain their professionalism while Adam and his bodyguard roamed around the store and with the growing crowd trying to entire the store to see Adam. All in all, it was a fun and eventful experience, despite my bathroom mishap. But hey, here's a friendly suggestion to the store: maybe invest in some air fresheners? I promise I'll return on my next visit, hoping for a less "aromatic" adventure and good times!. read more

Wow I have always loved my Patagonia gear but some how they made the customer experience even better!!! We got a jacket for my child over a year ago in Colorado and for what ever reason the zipper was not working. We finally remembered to bring to a store and the guys here were so nice that they were like you can get a new jacket or we can fix it. We were so happy because she wasn't able to wear the jacket at all and by now the jacket was starting to get small. The Patagonia gear we have is all exceptional and totally worth it!! The gear is comfortable, functional and looks great!! We will continue to get this great gear!! read more

This Patagonia flag store has been in Georgetown for ages. I applaud this location since they donate their time to cleaning up the canal and such. Patagonia makes quality products from sweaters, jackets, and to food. My tip is to shop at Patagonia during the end of the season. Recently, they had a 30% off sale and I got myself a good pair of almost knee-high merino blend socks. Definitely worth it. As others have mentioned, the store gets hot temperature-wise, but I guess that wasn't bad during the last few days when it was 30-40 degrees out. read more

I was more than a little skeptical when my favorite Washingtonian told me he was going to take back the piece of Patagonia luggage he'd had for years because the lining was disintegrating. Were this suit bag made by any other company it would have been a lost cause. Not so at Patagonia. They guarantee their merchandise for life. And as soon as they saw the bag they agreed this was a malfunction. While it took the friendly employee a while to look up the bag (they no long manufacture it) when he eventually found it he gave my favorite Washingtonian a store credit for what the bag would be worth if purchased today (more than $130). As a result, I am the lucky recipient of a brand new Patagonia Maximum Legal Carry-On bag which the employee told us was a favorite of a local air marshal who routinely flies on five flights a day. Apparently this is the only bag he'll use. One thing's for sure about Patagonia - when they say guaranteed for life they mean it! read more

Love love Patagonia products - best quality! As a skier I love my patagonia jacket, water and snow resistant with all the convenient pockets to store your ID, cell phone, chapstick and simply besr quality! It makes a difference knowing I will be warm while I tread the down the slopes. Best part of Patagonia is their excellent customer service. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable! I always have the best shopping experience. Recently, I had to return a vest but I actually needed to exchange it for the down nano- i was short on time so I plan to come back very soon. The only thing I would change is to have longer hours but understood why the store closes early given the location. Still, I love Patagonia products and customer service satisfaction policy and more importantly, the knowledgeable staff is the friendliest associates in all retail stores I've been to! I can't believe I do not yet have a review for Patagonia! I am a big fan of this brand for many years now and am one of their many unpaid brand ambassadors :P I have managed to convert all of my family members in to Patagonia believers and so far no one has been disappointed by their products and customer service. Their products are second to none and and totally worth the $$$. I have a Das parka for many years now and it is still really good and show no signs of reaching its end of life state - even though I may be getting tired of it. But I cannot find any reason to replace it! They have the best customer service and return policies compared to the competition. They are also big in to environment friendly materials and recycling efforts which makes it ever sweeter to like this brand! read more

The new smaller location has a very small inventory. Not sure why they had to move locations in Georgetown, but the shopping experience has diminished since they moved here. It's too small to carry a lot of product and they encourage you to mail order anything you are interested in. Sort of defeats the purpose of brick and mortar shopping. read more

The experience continues.... After buying two jackets in SFO, I ended up returning them both and buying three different jackets. Yah. Three. When I walked in, I explained that I bought a vest (women's down vest) in SFO that I wore and found it was going to be too puffy to wear with the other jacket I bought (the Eco Rain jacket). I wasn't sure they'd take it back since I wore it, but they said they wouldn't be happy if I was happy. I started to write a list of the three things that would make me the happiest and showed it to the sales clerk. Mind you, they had nothing to do with Patagonia at *all*, but nonetheless, he smiled and said, "Hmm....this one may be a little difficult to do..." What a sport he was. And I digress. Again. Damn ADD! I selected a micro puff jacket, a micro puff vest, and a winter guide jacket. Because of the fabulous sale, they only had a medium, but I snagged it and figured I would think about it when I got home. In the end, I decided the medium was a little too big and took the winter guide back. The return process was as easy as 1-2-3. Now I get what all the hype is surrounding Patagonia. read more

The staff here is eager to help, and when I told the guy I wanted one of their frisbees (made out of post-consumer plastics), he was all amped up that I was about to go play. "Yeah! Hey, he's getting a frisbee!" he said to his co-worker. It was something like twelve bucks, only--but you have to ask for them special, because they keep them in the store room. Anyway, It is a great frisbee, which I took traveling with me through India. Currently it belongs to an Israeli backpacker whom I gave it to, but I recently went out and bought the same model--it can be used as a plate, a coin dish, a water reservoir for potted plants, and much more... In fact, all Patagonia products are extremely high quality and versatile. I am not a brand-snob, but when I travel, I wear ONLY North Face and Patagonia apparel. read more

Amen the Eco-Friendly idea, Chang W. I love this company, they make great products for all seasons, they are super functional with no bells and whistle (yeah, North Face, less add on crap), and they make all their cotton from organic cotton, no pesticides or nastiness in them. Their gear is a little pricey but when you look at the environmental steps they are taking company wide, it is worth it to spend the extra money to feel good about your purchases going to a better cause other oil companies. This store is great, great selection and knowledgeable staff, and they are always willing to help you out. One of them voluntarily called 5 other stores to see if they had a jacket in my size and color choice. big ups to the company and this store. read more

First of all, there is NO parking nearby in this horrible location in the traffic nightmare that is Georgetown. I had to pay $10 to park in the lot a couple store fronts down. At least the parking attendant was a nice guy and feigned sympathy for my plight. So with that taken care of, I was home free to purchase a nice new down jacket, right? No. Patagonia hasn't bothered to stock their own store. They didn't even have my size (XL) in similar jackets. They had plenty of knickknacks though, like insulated stainless steel growlers. Who wants a stupid growler to tote around? It's the equivalent of carrying a gallon of water with you. So annoying. My wife also needed a jacket so I went to look at those. Again, they were out of her size. I'm not sure what I was looking at in this store, but now that I think about it everything was either xs, s or xxl...I guess. What a disaster trip. I could never have guessed it would take me 2 hours to find no jacket at a store that sells jackets as their foundational item. The staff was great, knowledgeable, and there was a TON of staff. About half the people in the store were staff. But if you wear a common size item and think you're going to get great service here, think again, as corporate will undermine their employees. Save your time and just drive out to an REI store. At least there you get the benefit of a liberal return policy on top of Patagonia's, along with the opportunity to try other brands. I gave two stars because the staff was awesome and I like the products, when they actually make them in my size. read more

It was a little hard for me to give a store 4 stars, mainly because I feel like it's everything a store SHOULD be anyway. I find it hard to rate stores anyway. A two-story store, it's not that big but it's definitely well stocked. I was impressed with the service. I think I was greeted by every person who worked there (sans the salesperson already talking to someone) and Nelson, who helped me locate the messenger bags, was very polite and helpful, although I think he was surprised that I chose the lime green color. (What can I say, I like bright colors) I ended up with the Half Mass bag because I'm only 5'2" and the Critical Mass bag was a little too big for me. 4 stars for super polite people who weren't pushy and didn't get annoyed when I walked into the store 5 minutes before closing. Two words: Patagonia Sale. In the past, I've shopped the Patagonia sales online only - didn't realize that the store sales can include totally different merchandise, and without the shipping fees! It was like Christmas in August... bins and racks full of all the same clothes they are selling this fall/winter, except in last year's colors, as well as a bunch of great summer stuff for next year. I went a little crazy and got some evil looks from other customers for carrying so much stuff into one of the two women's dressing rooms - tough, people!! In the end, I came out with a couple great tank tops for active summer wear, as well as a soft organic cotton skirt, all at 50% off. The buy of the day for me, though, was this life-changing Better Sweater, which is an amazing fleece-lined and machine washable wool thing that is so cozy I didn't want to take it off, despite the fact that it was 90+ degrees outside! I have a feeling I will be literally living in this thing all fall/winter. Since ALL of this stuff was 50% off, for just a bit over $100 (which was the price of just the sweater when not on sale!), I got several fun things to freshen up my wardrobe that I'll be wearing for a long time. Combine the quality guarantee on Patagonia gear with some impossible-to-beat prices and you've got a big winner... I almost feel like I shouldn't spread the word about the sales, because I don't want to be fighting any more crowds to get in on these deals, but I'm feeling generous. ;-) read more

I've been really pleasantly surprised every time I've gone to this store -- the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and the inventory is great. I don't often have trouble finding what I was searching for online (I'd rather buy locally and support the brick and mortar shop), and going to the store allows me to try on the fit to get the right size. On occasion they haven't had an item in store that I wanted, and they helped me order it at the store which saved my time and didn't add another item to my to do list once home. It's nice to shop at a store that offers such good customer service. A range of purchases dot my closet now ... from athletic clothes to leisure wear to casual friday office clothing. They have some great fabrics for dresses in summer especially that breathe better in our humid DC locale. The shop is so easy to get to and the staff makes it worth the trip - always a positive experience! read more

Came here for their winter 50% off sale. I picked up a nice hard shell that I later returned BUT the guy helping me out was really helpful. The store is split level and in a pretty busy part of Georgetown. I wish it was open a few hours longer so I could get in there after traffic dies down. I'm a big fan of their return policy and their overall customer service. I will definitely be back come summer. read more

Okay, I shop with enthusiasm. The chaps that were working there today were not enthusiastic about selling their wares. I bought a raincoat from the most unappealing salesman that you could ever encounter. I had a request from my son to purchase a raincoat, the one I had in mind was not available, and I ended up purchasing a lower price pointed coat. Now, again it was like shopping in an insane institution. The workers were all in some sort of fog, and when I wandered upstairs that clerk was rude and condescending too. The customer service is fantastic here! Most recently, I was in the store to return some items that I purchased online that didn't work out and I mentioned how the lining on my Patagonia Lightweight Travel Tote Backpack was peeling (I love this bag so much that it's my go to bag and I highly recommend it for vacation and for just walking around DC). I showed the rep the inside of my bag and he asked how long I had the bag. I had only had this particular bag about a year because it was a replacement from the first one that I sent to get repaired (and when they couldn't repair it, Patagonia sent me a gift card to repurchase the bag). Right away when I showed him the bag, he said that shouldn't be happening and let me swap it for a brand new replacement right then and there! It was great because I didn't have to mail my bag in and wait for Patagonia to repair it or send me a gift card and I could get it done that same day without having to go without my bag, which was what I was avoiding as I was going to be traveling soon. I know this isn't the norm, but I really appreciated the customer service and helpfulness with my bag. On another occasion, I went in the store to get help on picking out a backpack that had a sleeve for a water bladder. I was going back and forth between a couple of different sizes and styles and the customer service reps were all very helpful in assisting me and offering feedback in selecting a pack. They weren't pushy at all and were available to help, but also weren't overbearing and didn't hover and gave me space to make my decision and try a few different packs on, but were close by if I wanted an opinion or additional help. I ended up purchasing the Patagonia Women's Nine Trails Pack 18L and have been super happy with it. The straps and back are very comfortable and breathable and a water bladder fits in the designated pocket perfectly (you have to buy a water bladder separately and I purchased the Hydrapak one). Overall, I really like the store because they've had great customer service every time I've been there and I've been very impressed with all of the Patagonia products I've purchased thus far! read more

After a wintry snowshoe trek through Rock Creek Park ending in Georgetown we decided to make it a point to stop in on the Patagonia Winter Sale. Being an active outdoor adventurer and a collector of various brands of performance clothing, how could I pass up a sale! Store was pretty busy with some good deals on season ending winter jackets and clothing separates. Since I range between a small and medium I always score on a few good pieces on the sale rack. After trying on some shells and mid base layers I settled on a rubicon snowboard/ski hooded jacket and a cool striped zip up quilt-again jacket. Can you ever have too many jackets....um..NO! Not everything was on sale and prices were 30-50% off on some items that may be out of the average persons price range. But good performance based clothing lasts a long time. Bottom line...... Patagonia winter gear is top notch. read more

Anyone that knows Patagonia knows their stuff is insanely high priced, yet as the saying goes...you get what you pay for. I happen to be wearing my 10 year old hard shell when I dropped in on a rare visit to DC. I happen to mention the broken snap to a sales clerk and before I knew it they offered to replace the snap while I waited. As it turns out the person doing the repairs was at lunch and I had very little time. They offered to keep the jacket have it repaired and ship it to my home, free of charge. Two days later my favorite 10 year old shell arrived at my home perfectly repaired with a new snap. This is typical service I have found through out all Patagonia company stores. read more

I just stop in to do some last minute Christmas shopping. I was told I could not shop with out an appointment, walk-in shopping was not allowed, but could wait at the front door to drop off a vest for warranty repair. I stood waiting for 10 minutes. While I waited I saw 5 grouped of Caucasian told the exact same thing I was told. "You're not allowed to do walk-in shopping without an appointment". The warranty person showed up and took my damage vest and wrote up the paperwork and gave me a slip and told me my damaged us would be mailed to me. Then as I was about to leave I saw a African-American couple come in tell the gentleman at the front of the store they did not have an appointment but they were allowed to proceed. And following that a Asian couple came in told the gentleman at the front of the store they did not have an appointment but they were told they could proceed. Then I turn around and asked the gentleman why they were allowed to do walk-in shopping without an appointment read more

This is one of smaller Patagonia stores I've been to but the selection is pretty good for adult clothes and gear. You won't find everything that you see online but in most cases you can at least figure out what size you would be and then order it online. Even with the smaller selection, I've bought quite a few items here over the years. All of their products wear like steel. Unlike some of the other stores in Georgetown, the people working here are always very nice and helpful without being overly perky. It's like an oasis of normal. read more

This is another awesome Patagonia store (I have a Patagonia store fetish and have been to a couple). I was in town late February this year and just happened in on the store during the big sale. Oh my god ! It was crazy and I bought tons of stuff. There wasn't time to try on everything and I was paranoid in handing my loot to the sales who kindly suggested that I was carrying way too much stuff (thinking that someone might take my nice fleece jacket which was 50% off). I ended up buying a Freightliner wheeled luggage which was 40% off to carry my loot. I bought some stuff at regular price the day before the sale and the guys were able to credit my account with the differential off the sale price. Awesome ! I am wearing all the stuff that I bought and they made also made great gifts. So, keep an eye out for the big sale event around Feb. read more

Not only did they offer to send it to my home for free, but they overnighted it so that I would have it in time for the storm coming this weekend! My son gave me a cap for the summer . I wore it a few times when I went out. My biggest surprise came when I saw the bill and the front panels. Four months and the blue bill and front panels had faded. It has discolored so much that you could easily see the difference. Poor quality, cheap piece of garment. A $5 cap I have has retained its color better. I sent a letter to corporate and customer service but so far they haven't had the courtesy nor the professionalism to answer back. read more

Having said that, with Patagonia you know exactly what you're getting. I walked over to the Georgetown store on a Saturday afternoon.
