Stopped in here after searching yelp for a Indian grocery store. The reviews said it was large and comprehensive. When I went in, I would agree. There was produce, frozen food, a lot of frozen food really, packaged items, dried goods and even saffron behind the counter. They had HOLI powder. They had some fragrances, they had hundred pound bags of rice, which was very interesting. They also had some low glycemic index rice, which I thought was very interesting. I didn't try it. I did spend $120 getting the items I needed for Kashmari Kawaha tea. But I will make a a lot of tea with what I got. I enjoyed shopping there, the staff was helpful although most of them didn't speak English. I showed them a picture and they took me where I needed to go. I'll be back! It was pretty clean, it looks like they work at keeping it clean. The parking was easy. read more

Soooooo many items for purchase here! Many things I didn't know what they were but it was a fun shopping experience for someone like me, who doesn't know much about Indian/asian cuisine and cooking. Had a bad craving for some Indian pickles lately, so while I was out and about grocery shopping this past Saturday I decided to check out Patel Brothers Indian grocery store. I was very impressed by the wide array of Indian foods at PB. They had just about everything I could think of and more for crafting some delicious Indian dishes. But I was man on a mission and headed to the pickle aisle. Wow at the variety of pickle choices! So many brands and flavors. I picked up some spicy mango and mixed vegetable pickles, and a jar of some mint chutney with some paratha. I interacted with a couple nice and helpful associates. One helped me decide on the best brand of pickles to buy and another friendly associate checked me out. read more

The most comprehensive fresh grocers offering Indian and mid-eastern foods. Immaculately clean. Well organized. Easy to find products. Wonderful specialty produce that was so fresh. And the service by cashier was excellent- especially since the cashiers were gloved for hygiene. So impressed! read more

I am not Indian and I am not sure that that would make a difference, but I did not feel welcome in the store. No one greeted me, although there were several men standing in the aisle next to where I entered the store. They appear to be affiliated with the store as owners or employees. I wandered the aisles to see what was available and chose a couple of items to try. No one in the relatively empty store said anything to me. I only saw two or three people in the entire store who appeared to be customers. The store did seem to have an extensive inventory, although the store itself is relatively small. The lady who checked out my order was friendly, especially in comparison to the men I had encountered earlier. My advice is that the store personnel should make an effort to welcome everyone. Perhaps they feel that they have enough clientele and they don't need people from other backgrounds to frequent their business. If so, that is a shame. I love Indian cuisine and would love to learn how to make some of the dishes that I find intriguing. For that, I need ingredients, but I will more than likely find another business to purchase the items that I need. read more

I love stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things- and this does include simple things like groceries! I love to cook, and love different grocery stores! We have a huge Indian population in my area and this grocery store is a wonderful spot for someone like me to explore a little different food culture! The produce alone is a wonder! Hubby and I pop into this store at least once a month to try different things. Tea, spices, produce, noodles and so much more. We are terrible and always grab a bunch of the little snack pack cookies too! The cashiers are always friendly and tend to ask if we enjoy the foods~ it's always a pleasure to shop here! read more

Patel Brothers is a huge Indian grocery store. They are located on Ild Baymeadows in he same shopping center as Flavors, Koroush Market and Pattaya. The store is a great size and they carry pretty much anything you could want. Their selection of rice is staggering. They also have a large amount of fresh fruits and veggies. They have quite a few varieties of paneer and so many cold drinks. They also have a lot of jarred curries, pastes and chutneys. In addition that have massive amounts of spice mixtures for pretty much any fish you can imagine. The frozen section is along the whole back wall of the store. There are many types of breads, frozen entrees, fruits, veggies, desserts and ice cream. The store is clean and well organized. Just walking around it is very easy to fill up a basket and try some new tasty treats. read more

Miss this store when we lived in Orlando so i stocked up on great whole seed seasoning way better, fresher, and cheaper than the little bottles u get in reg supermarkets. Also got orange lentils by the 5 lb bags, i would have bought 10 lb bags if they had it. Also got their version of Indian packaged fast food. They didn't have premade potato frieds at the cashier like Orlando but they had fresh fruit, fresh veggies & everything else i wanted. Glad it was near to where we are visiting. read more

When paying for the produce the cashier did not even look at us. The cashier did not offer any greeting or thank you for shopping there. The ambiance is okay. Nothing spectacular. This location has a large frozen section of veg and non-veg prepared items. Also a big selection of frozen breads (naan, chapati, paratha etc). I love my little Indian tastes of home and enjoy trying out new Asian stores and I'm honestly thoroughly impressed with this store as the prices are excellent, the parking is generous and inside it is very spacious, well-lit and nicely laid out. As you enter the doors and take a left into the store, you face the fresh pickles, chutneys and sauces laid out buffet-style for you to scoop into a container to take home to add to your own dishes. Next they have a very nice fruit & vegetable section laid out with a very good range of options, with the prices quite competitive with the larger supermarkets. They also stock a few of the slightly more elusive items (such as Thai eggplants) that you won't find in your standard store. Beside the fruit & vegetables is a refrigerated cabinet stocking imported sodas and fruit juices, chilled dairy products and a wide range of Indian Sweets (including my beloved gulab jamuns *self high five*). Running along the back of the store from left to right is the frozen food section with a fairly decent range of options. In the main body of the store after the fruit & veg are rows of neatly laid out shelves containing everything from dried noodles, prepared curry sauces, cookies and cakes, canned goods, beauty products and, to my delight, a section of British goods beloved by Indians (such as PG tips tea, bourbon biscuits (cookies to you Americans) and so on). At the end of the store on the far right are a couple of rows holding a wide range of rice choices in varying sized bags as well as wooden bins holding lots of crunchy Indian snacks made from rice flour, lentils and so on. The staff are all deeply polite, friendly and helpful, and the store attracts a wide range of customers, which for me is always a solid selling point as it shows that the good feedback about the store is spreading far and wide. I'm thrilled that this store is such a superb find as it now just happens to be one of the nearest Indian grocery stores to my house so I no longer need to travel so far when I need to stock up on items. Worth a visit if you've never stepped inside an Indian grocery store before as the lovely staff will take fantastic care of you and you will be surprised at how many new and delicious foods you will enjoy introducing your taste buds to. read more

Patel Brothers is your one stop to Indian Groceries. They have a wide variety of vegetables and fruits (local and also native to India). You can find pre made Indian desserts that are easy to grab for those dinner parties you're hosting at your house. This particular location isn't usually very crowded. You should be in and out of there within an hour depending on how much you gotta shop. If you're a fan of Indian bread/appetizers, you can find various varieties of them in the frozen section and they do retain all the flavor, similar to that of freshly baked ones. If you're not a fan of cooking, their range of pre cooked and frozen food products will blow your mind. For Indian folks that crave Indian candy like I do all the time, you gotta go here!! read more

The produce was ok. I came in an hour and a half before closing the other night with my mom for the first time. There were employees cleaning. One employee was sweeping while I was picking out apples, and when he got to me instead of sweeping around me and then coming back when I'm done HE STOOD NEXT TO ME STARING UNTIL I MOVED. I could feel him breathing on me if that helps you understand how close he was to me. It happened again when I went to a different area to pick out cucumbers. It was rude and uncomfortable. They did it to my mom and other shoppers there too. I won't be rushing to come back here anytime soon. read more

The wife and I were curious and looking to add variety in our spice cabinet and Indian foods in our pantry and freezer. We got some mung bean,frozen veggie burgers, and other frozen dinners that peaked our curiosity. Wifey also picked up a few things for her hair (henna). It was an over all great experience. I seen fruits and vegetables I wasn't familiar with and the patrons were more than helpful in explaining the comparison of their flavors and textures to what I was familiar with. I picked up a few boxes of hot and spicy popcorn and looking fwd to eating it. If you are adventurous and like learning about different foods from other countries, in this case India, this is a nice market to explore and expand your culinary taste buds. read more

Recently my roommate and I went there at 8:50pm, hoping to quickly get in and out before they closed. The sign however said they closed at 8:30pm that night. The manager saw us, and he greeted and welcomed us in... this is even a few months after they opened. So their customer service went way above and beyond. They have the largest snack selection i've ever seen. Generally, they probably have the largest selection I've seen of all of their products, compared to the other small Indian stores. I kinda feel bad going there now though, because the other close-by Indian store (locally owned) has a lot less business now. But that "other" store used to be so packed and they had the opportunity to grow and relocate to a bigger storefront but they didn't while they had the chance. They have an indian pickle bar. I didnt buy any because I already have a lot of indian pickled stuff at home. I didn't really see anything on there, that you can't get in a jar.... and I assume it's not freshly made. So i don't see much point to the bar. But... still an option. Their produce selection is way better than the other Indian stores. Sometimes I often go to an American store after the indian store for produce, but their produce selection might stop the need a trip to both stores. The only thing I would change about this store, is the samosas that are sold at the front. They are past the cash register area, so you don't see them until after you've already paid and picked up your bags. They also seem strangely sitting there, I think on a windowsill. I don't think this place has a minimum purchase limit like a lot of other international stores have.... but I might be wrong. read more

it's bigger than I thought! and clean ! I enjoyed buying ready to cook spice mixes. they make it easy to make curries you like. Just add meat and water basically! I was amazed that shelves are packed with all good stuff! indian cosmetics, snacks, spices, snacks...etc and frozen isles were full of naan bread, frozen dinner, chapati, roti and all! We were only able to spend a few minutes inside but we will definitely be back! First of all, the sweet perfumed smell of this place is incredible, not overwhelming. Huge produce selection, spices galore, premade sauces, frozen meals and snacks, desserts, paneer for days, I could go on forever. The store is very clean and bright. Wow! I am really impressed at the selection and prices here. For those who are familiar with H-Mart (Korean-based asian supermarket chain, currently unavailable in Jax), this is probably the Indian facsimile. Albeit, on a much smaller scale. It is more organized and well-kept than some locally owned grocery stores I have been too. The prices are really great. The produce are fresh and priced competitively as well. If you enjoy Asian produce, it's worth checking this place out. I usually shop at southeast asian grocery stores, but this one has pretty decent selection of asian fruits I enjoy. There are a TON of frozen Indian foods, a TON of spices, among other Indian, or South Asian items. It's so much better to shop here for spices than at Publix or Wal-Mart. For instance, garam massala was like $2 here, whereas it's $5 for a quarter of the amount I got. I am excited that the Patel Brothers have opened in Jacksonville, and hope they can thrive here! read more

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with this Indian grocery store. I wasn't sure what to expect and I didn't even know they were open but apparently they have been for about two months now. The store upon entering is clean and very organized. And organization is extremely important especially when your in a hurry. Their prices are very good. I just bought some snacks and drinks for my 3 year old that were all 50cents or less. Their produce prices looked very competitive with apples ranging at $1.50/lb or less so you can get an idea. Their frozen food section is smaller than a typical big grocery store but it fits perfectly with the size of the store. The employees were extremely friendly and even mentioned they love working there so that's good to know that they treat the employees well. Check out was a breeze but the cashier had a very flat affect but I didn't bother me any. I'm certain I'll be back and this place definitely warrants a visit at least once. read more

From the location to the customer service, if you have an eclectic palate, this store should be in your shopping rotation. They take EBT, there's plenty of parking, it's very clean with no odd smells, spacious isles, the checkout lanes are plentiful and quick moving and everyone I've encountered working there is quite helpful. If you love Indian food but not much of a cook, almost the entire back wall is devoted to frozen food items. My favorite part is the prepared foods section. It's not very big but there's plenty to choose from including desserts and cheeses. read more

This store has everything you could want. You won't need to make additional stops to another store to get your produce. The selection of packaged food is extensive. Also so many types of naan and other breads. The spices were very well stocked too. It is very easy to get to and easy to find. Have fun browsing while you are deciding what to make for dinner.
