the shelves of a grocery store
    Karthikeyan R.

One of the few Patel Brothers/Indian grocery stories that is neatly stacked and stocked. The store is well maintained and arranged in a way where walking through the aisles is a breeze. The vegetables and fruits are fresh and last a good number of days. This is probably the only Patel Brothers that's open until 9 PM. The staff are kind and make the checkout smooth and easy. The parking area is not humongous but spacious enough to accommodate cars even during rush hours.

A great place to shop Pakistani, Indian and South Asian grocery and products. I have been shopping at Patel Brothers for years now and never had a problem.

Updated review: ;26 Sept 2024…read more Aldi in Europe is an entirely different matter. It is more like Trader Joe's in the States ( no surprise since TJ owns it and Lidl). In Portugal, Aldi is my favorite small supermarket, with quality merch and low prices. Ignore my review from 5 years ago, as it talks to a 5 year old start up Aldi in the US . I suspect the US. Concept has improved to keep up with its European heritage. Aldi is better in every respect in Europe, especially on the Iberian peninsula. For example, their flash frozen shrimp 12-15 size at around 12 Euro a kilo is worth twice the price. Same is true with specialty items like wine, liquor, cheese, and amazing breads. Some Trader Joe's items (nuts, candy, chocolate) are repackaged and bear the TJ logo. So .... I hope the Rte 9' Aldi has grown with the European parent. If so, it is a bargain supermarket that cannot be best //even by Costco standards.

This Aldi is in the same shopping center complex as Costco and IHop. It's really in Morganville but…read morethe Yelp address read Old Bridge. As you walk in, it's a fairly large and clean feeling supermarket. In addition to food, they also carry miscellaneous household items such as an electric hand vac, decorative baskets, scratch posts for cats, and other knick-knacks. It's a very odd feeling as you walk around. Dare I say, almost like a general dollar store vibe. There is no charm or warmth to it whereas Trader Joe's oozes with it. The only workers I deemed truly friendly are the cashiers. I went there on a whim and found their alternative milk sells for $1.99/half-gallon. Their Oat Milk sells for $2.99, by the way. Things on sale are mostly their own brand but they do carry some name brand items. They also carry some organic items but their selections are limited. They do carry a fair amount of vegetarian-based frozen prepared items, though. Be aware, if you use their paper bags to hold your groceries, it will cost you 6 cents for each bag. If you want to use their cart when you shop, have a quarter. Your quarter will be returned when you bring the cart back to the designated area. This is how they cut down on manpower and have the carts more organized and not all over the parking lot.

I started asking one of the attendants about the ingredients when she gestured to get someone else to help in English. The lady that came over was so friendly, patiently explained any dishes I had questions about, gave me samples to make decisions, and gave me candid recommendations on the entrees and desserts. She spent a total of 15-20 minutes with me just to plan a small gathering for three: three types of salad, Hungarian chicken, lamb samsa, and two types of deserts, which rang up to $70. The salads were instant home runs, so fresh and tasty, and everyone raved about it. Most customers speak Russian with the attendants, and it looks like most attendants can provide at least minimal assistance in English. I see myself coming back regularly to try other goodies.

A low rent, ghettofied, wanna be version of Costco…read more..... Filled with the walking wounded this location is short on service, selection and coherent management. Actually quite apt for the surroundings. BJ's as with largely all membership clubs makes their profit on memberships with a minimal markup on goods but what serperates them is selection, freshness, customer service and peripheral services all of which BJ's rank last in. Spend the extra dollars, drive those extra miles and just sign up at Costco and you'll see the difference while enjoying the luxury of not having to look over your shoulder in the parking lot. You'll thank me later.

Nor is it your fault that a majority of your clientele seem...wellllll rude is a good adjective to throw in here. You are doing so much right and its only fair that someone points out the good along with all of those pointing out the bad *Ample parking. Like for real, you can squeeze oh so many Jersians AND New Yorkers into your parking lot* *Quality of inventory - you had legit everything I was looking for, and OH so much more, but then again that's the point right? Who could say no to ~2.2 pounds of unsalted peanuts for 8$?! *Preorder deli mobile app - yep, you can order your white American extra thinly sliced cheese and it'll be ready when you finally make it back to the Deli** *You're 5 minutes from my house - I live on the good side of the tracks, but thankfully there is a small road to get me over here to the seedy side so I can say hey to you! So yeah, you've got a good thing going on BJ's. Sure you could probably light the store a bit better, and YES Costco*** has better frozen food (have I mentioned I will be dying of a frozen pizza induced heart attack some day soon?), but still, I am so happy that you're so close to me. You can absolutely bet that I will be back for an 84 pack of seltzer soon, and maybe a 84" 8.5k 4D TV as I know you'll have both in stock waiting for me. ____________ *SO many NY plates at this BJ's - is the one in Staten really that ba...oh right, never mind. **Which of course will take an hour or so...because yeah there's a lot of inventory and my gerbille like attention span goes insane in any Wearhouse-esque store. ***They also don't accept American Express, and as such, are literally dead to me.
