We decided to go to Patel Brothers since we needed some Indian soaps. This store has a tiny parking lot, so it was almost full when we arrived. The store itself is huge, with vegetables and fruits in front, groceries in the middle and frozen goods were in the back of the store. Even though the store appeared tidy, it was little dirty in certain areas. Alongside soap we bought a handful items like Indian tea, bunch of small cookies, Maggie noodles, some pickles, ghee and couple of other snacks. I wish they had better lane markings so that I know where's what. Nonetheless, the variety and inventory were really good. The checkout was smooth and quick. read more

Big Indian supermarket for south Asian goods. They have grocery, Indian spice/sauce packs and various of snacks. The staff were nice and helpful. I asked them couple times for different sections or how to use certain items. They have nice decoration up but I think it's for people to purchase ? Okay, so parking on weekends can be a pain, but weekdays are usually better for getting in and out. The store's layout is kinda messed up, especially with where they put stuff near the door. They also need to sort out the carts outside and make the produce fresher. Plus, the staff could be more helpful with finding things. This place has potential, but they really need to fix the aisle signs, organize the products better (like spices, snacks, and Pooja stuff), and just generally get more organized. Honestly, West Indian stores and the local fruit markets are doing a much better job right now. read more

Our experience has been good so far. They have limited amount of produce here, but onions, cilantro, oranges, lemons, okra is what we usually get and are good quality. The prices as well for these items are competitive. Whenever we ask for where something us, both the indian uncles and hispanic workers are pretty helpful in telling us where things are. Sometimes they make mistakes on where things are, but someone else would then follow-up with us to tell us where things actually are. They take wireless pay and no minimum on card. We also purchase our grains here, brown and white basmati rice pretty good. They don't have jasmine rice, but have few goods that are east asian items. Lines get long quick, but the cashiers are so swift at scanning items. Some items definitely you can see they've marked up higher than manufacturer's cost or higher than standard cost, so we just don't get the item if it's the case. First off, all the food and packaged food are expired, or even worse they relabel expired products with a different date. I witnessed this one too many times I will not be returning to this store. Patel brothers, parsippany location is selling old stock of lentils and pulses. Within few weeks, worms and insects are started forming in the lentils and pulses. When approaching the store, they are saying they don't exchange if it's more than 7 days and COVID protocols. I do accept covid protocols, but store doesn't misuse the covid protocols and selling old stocks and cheating and stealing customer money by selling unqualified products. read more

The best Indian grocery I have ever been to. The best thing about this store is the wall of spices. You can get any kind of spice you want, in bulk, and at a quarter of the cost of what you get from other grocery stores. For example, you can get a bag of cinnamon sticks (probably a dozen) for $2.99, but at Shop Rite, for the same amount you could pay in excess of $10!! Their produce is quite fresh as well. Good deals on scallions, garlic and Ginger. They have an assortment of Indian vegetables that I've never seen before and it's interesting to know the Indian names of herbs and vegetables. Will have to agree with both reviews in that this is the best Indian grocery I have seen. Passed this location a few times and today decided to 'check it out'. Well, we ended up buying a whole load of items for work lunches and dinner. Great selection of vegetables normally hard to find at regular supermarkets and grossly overpriced at places like Wholefoods. Spice selection is huge and bulk quantities available. Many types of basmati rice and bulk quantities available. Many different curries both in paste form and ready to mix with meat and vegetables. Counter staff need to learn to be nice to customers. Typical Indian attitude towards fellow Indians/Asians. (I shop there often) When I go to their store, they threat me like I'm a burden, they are doing me a favor by selling grocery...! Never found them helpful but rather rude and impolite. I have tried to be as polite and "hi" and "thank you" to the and they have no courtesy reply. Funny incident. I was on the line. Two white people (Dad and daughter) with two energy drinks behind me. I bought about $130 worth grocery and check out lady has nothing to do with me. This review is for the non-Indians out there because this store and Subzi Mandi down the street are pretty much staples of our lives. The store has EVERYTHING you could want - spices, breads, chutneys and my favorite are the fresh vegetables! Prices are cheap and even the Mexicans know exactly what spice I'm talking about. We (my husband, my mom and I) love this place. They have the freshest produce and for really really cheap. We often go here and get a lot of fresh produce for less than $10. They always have the freshest mint for large quantities. You can't get it for any cheaper or fresher anywhere else nearby. The location kinda sucks because it's stuck right next to a Cluck U and Eccola so there is very limited parking. But this is a really great place to pick up fresh produce. read more

I can not believe how many times I have driven by this place and never went in until last weekend. I have to agree 100% with Tinyee H. This is the best Indian grocery store I have been in. The place is easy to get around, everything is baged well. The staff are helpfully, it is a pleasure to shop here. They also have chinese spices as well, but not in a huge abundance but at least they have them. I used to drive into NYC and go to Kalustyans, but this is way better and easier to navigate around. Quick convenient location for a great Indian grocery store that provides pretty much everything you could ever imagine and need to cook Indian or ethnic food. I don't doubt that they might have the widest collection of grocery items for India household in the area unless you go all the way to Edison. The staff is very nice if you require help, they will stop what they're doing and come around to assist you. The checkout girls are nice too and will answer your questions if you are new to Indian cooking or have questions regarding ingredients. As expected for any grocery store, they are clean but do have a lot of things stocked and have to keep up with lots of people in small space and not enough help. So there may be nothing or so fallen down on the floor. But overall this is my go to store for all my Indian grocery needs. read more

The selection is quite good and they have amazing specials on some packaged products such a frozen naans for $1.79 and buy 2 get 1 free. The staff is not friendly and the shoppers were quite rude getting very impatient with my senior mother slowly pushing the cart and almost but not quite pushed us out of the way. This place is horrible. Its not clean at all (do they even sweep?), and the food doesn't seem fresh. Also the prices are higher then other locations in the area. Not to mention the parking lot is a disaster. They sometimes have a person outside directing parking- who will tell you that you can't park in certain areas (even when the lot is full!?- I just left. and went to another store instead because he was rude) They aren't the only indian store in town and aren't worth the annoyance. read more

If I could give this place a minus value, it would be fitting after wasting my time and energy going there hoping to get what I needed, only to be treated so poorly. It's absolutely the worst Indian grocery store I have ever walked into. I'm not from the area but thought I'd go there since it was the closest Indian grocery store to me that would have what I needed. Employees, including manager, were extremely rude! It's disgusting and illogical how they're in the customer service field without any concept of it! They had me running around, person to person, to find an item and it's price. Then threw a random ridiculously high number when I said I planned on buying it in bulk, it was very obvious from the interaction. As soon as I said I'd take less because I didn't expect it to be so overpriced compared to what most other places are selling it for, they started speaking to me rudely and told me that I'd have to pay the same price and get from their rotting batch. They were clearly trying to take advantage of the situation and make me pay for inedible produce. It's just disgusting and sad how arrogant and ignorant these people are. Place is not clean. Also the lady at the billing counter was not very attentive and over charged us for an item extra and we realized that after we got home!! The Patel Bros in Jersey City is a tad cleaner, more presentable, and I felt more options (some pre-made stuff...which this one does not have). Not this one. I was here today and I was picking up a bunch of fenugreek leaves.. i took two and the third one had a dead animal (slimy) on it. I showed it to the cashier at the counter and all he said was get another one.. i am going to complain about them to the authorities. I'm always a fan of Patel brothers used to purchase all groceries there. I went to Patel brothers at Parsippany NJ, on April 16th 2014, was shocked to see that an employee was stepping on a 10 / 20 lbs Wheat flour (SWAD brand) and flattening it to stack it. How cruel it is? how we would have the confidence of buying these things there at all? he was doing this in the day light and when i tried taking video, he saw that and asked me not to take video. The local Asian market in FairLawn closed so I hunted online and found Patel. I went in to the shop for some spices and came out with scads and scads of food! The staff was pleasant and helped me find what I was looking for. The frozen entrees I bought to try out were more than edible, they were quite good.
