Dr. Vu and Katie (dental hygienist) were some of the most gentle yet patient dental professionals I've encountered. They take the time to teach how to better take care of your teeth. Brittany & Adrianne at the front desk was also wonderful! Tatianna was a bit more blunt but I could tell she really cared about patients having healthy teeth-- like a Russian/ Chinese parent kinda love. Explained pros and cons and have time to answer questions. Even covered the pros and cons of using X-ray during pregnancy without forcing a choice onto you. Let you choose what is best for you. Dr. Vu taught us how to properly floss showing he really care about proactive teeth care: scraping the between the sides of your teeth 4x on each side before leaving the grooves. Also taught me that you should floss before brushing teeth to also not inadvertently spread the flossed plaque back onto cleaned/ brushed teeth. Suggested to invest in electric toothbrush. Went the extra mile: Told my pregnant wife that if she ever threw up, to rinse her mouth with either water or mouthwash to neutralize acidic pH of the throw up, then brush teeth 1 hr later; otherwise brushing with the acid will actually inadvertently damage teeth. Also easily identified that certain fillings deteriorated because the previous material used was not of quality. Also open 9a-4p Saturdays. Deep cleaning for whole mouth: $500, but was discounted to $400 ($100 for each quadrant) if not paying with insurance. read more

I'm very disappointed with Patela Dental. I had a root canal done there 6 months ago, and just a few weeks ago I started having pain in the same molar. When I called, they told me they didn't have any appointments and scheduled me three weeks out--even though I was in pain. When I asked for help, they told me to see another doctor instead. I paid $810 out of pocket for that root canal because my insurance didn't cover it, and now I'm being told they can't do anything. When I finally went in, they said the tooth looked "fine" but I had a small infection. They gave me antibiotics and said if the pain continues, I should see a root canal specialist because they can't help me further. That's unacceptable. To make things worse, the front desk lady was very rude and unhelpful during the whole process. I felt dismissed and not cared for as a patient. I expected much better service and support after spending so much money. I won't be going back. read more

I get scheduled for 9:30 cleaning and wait 30 mins to be seen. Then when I ask how much longer I have to wait they offer me to reschedule so I don't have to wait longer or come back later and she'll make sure I can go right back, why schedule an appointment and make someone wait this long. I call at 1 o'clock to see if it's ok if I come back for my cleaning so I can be sure I won't be waiting in there and they put me on hold for 25 mins. I scheduled my mother an appointment as a new patient earlier in the month. The receptionist was wonderful and I was initially impressed. After a cleaning, my mom was found to have a large cavity. Initially, she was told she would have to come back for it but then they decided they could try to fix it. Well, the filling took a long time and the dentist was apparently bouncing between patients. My mom complained about the experience and the doctor but I initially thought it was natural to dislike dental work, right? Unfortunately, since the filling, my mother now has heat and cold sensitivity in the area and is unable to chew without pain. The pain radiates to her temples. She has pain daily. She went to another practice for an urgent visit. The xray shows a large filling that is clearly poorly filled - even I can see that and I am not a dentist! There is an overhang that could be causing her discomfort. Now she may need a root canal. Unfortunately, the second place she went was not able to do the work she needed but gave her a copy of her xray. I accompanied my mother to a follow up with Patelka Dental and she was seen by Dr. Fluhr, who could stand to work on his bedside manners. He never introduced himself. When I explained why we were there, he wanted to know where she got the filling done - her chart was right in front of him! Then he asks his assistant about who "Dr. Stephanie" was - the one who did the filling. He barely examines my mother - literally took a few seconds to look on her mouth. I doubt he could see anything! We brought the outside xray for him and he wanted to do another but never told us the result. When I asked for a copy as she would need to be referred to endodontics, he said there's no need to waste time coming back for it because "it doesn't matter". Then why did he take one and expose her to unnecessary radiation? He sent us out with a script for amoxicillin (he looked at me dumbfounded when I asked how long the course of antibiotics would be) and a referral and never told us any more info other than, "I can't see the nerve." I think it's important to practice antibiotic stewardship and he never said anything about an infection - he certainly did not spend enough time to see that if there was one. I am not a dentist but I practice medicine and I was thoroughly unimpressed by the care my mother received. We will NOT be returning and I would highly suggest others to avoid having dental work completed at this practice. My mother was not having pain or sensitivity until after the work. Save yourself! BEWARE!! The dentists here lied to me and destroyed my teeth! Insisted on doing a root canal on a tooth, I agreed. They were very pushy to do the root canal on the spot and not get a second opinion. Later took the X-rays to an Endodontist, Dr. Schoengold in Jenkintown, who told me the tooth was completely fine and had zero need for a root canal. My insurance company also informed me of all the things they had billed for -- X-rays they never took and cleanings that never happened. read more

They could have Denied me and told me they are Full and to try calling other dental places. The scheduling lady told me come in now at 10 am. I came at around 10 am and the front staff started targeting me. That make no sense to tell me come Now and you get mad. You talk rude to me but you speak broken English, I dont even understand what you are talking about in person and over the phone. You are racist because you cant speak english to do your job. They cater to Russian and people who speak their language only. Also instead of apologizing, the head doctor named "Rasik Patel" of that place is equally rude. . He was shouting at me and yelling at me telling me get out his office when his workers singled me out and talk to me like trash . Be blessed I didnt record you yelling like a clown. The short older hygienist lady that called me was nasty and rude as hell to me. The one that look 60 yr old. She intentionally pressed the suction tool down on my gums hard on purpose. The front staff is all overweight and taking up space up front where they sit. YET They told me to wait outside as soon as I came in and they kept telling my friend to step outside because of covid rules. One of the office lady accuse me of taking up space and kept saying im standing next to people but she beckon me over to talk to me about appt first. Keep in mind she bigger than me but she saying I'm taking up space . I didnt stand next to people for no reason she called me over. Ignorant as hell. They talked to me rude and was ordering me around telling me to go sit down but i witness another guy walk to the bathroom without saying anything. One of the receptionist muttered "where is he going " under her breath but she didnt say anything to him. I saw people came in pairs and sat right next to each other, they didnt say anything either . They kept noticing me and talking crap to me. If I ask them a question, they act dumb and keep saying "What, What. Huh. " Why tell me come "Now" to harass me. I put up with them cause the crown in my back molar that I got done at patelka, completely popped off w. nothing to protect it. A crown popping off is considered a dental emergency. And guess what. After they put the crown back on, a different old crown they did fell out two days later. Now when I went to a different dental place for emergency visit, I didnt have the same experience as with these people. I'm filing a complaint with the dental board and reporting this establishment to my insurance company. read more

I had a toothache caused by a upper left molar. I was going to get a root canal done and a crown put on by the dentist that I was going to at the time , but my insurance changed because I had to go on Medicare and I got a Medicare Advantage Plan that had good dental insurance. The dentist that I was seeing as it turned out was not in network, so I had to find a another dentist. I tried a dentist from years ago but he was older and not doing root canals. He said that the painful tooth needed to get extracted and the one next to it needed a root canal, and he referred me to an endodontic dentist. But the referral also was not in network- and other root canal dentists did not see me because I think you need a referral from a dentist to see a specialist like themselves. Whatever, I found Patelka Dental in the dental directory and got an appointment from them. I also saw two popular emergency dentist and one dentist there said that I need the painful tooth extracted and 3 root canals; the second one said I needed to get two teeth extracted, a root canal and a upper denture for $1,300. I was depressed and did not know what to do next when the office manager at Patelka called me and said that my plan of treatment was still outstanding. Honestly, I thought their plan of treatment was an outlier since they thought the problem tooth could be saved. However, I took the gamble and went to see them. Good thing that I did. The x-ray that they had taken showed the tooth was good enough and the one next it was good altogether. The gum was depressed by food that had gotten in and made it look unusual. Patelka was able to restore the tooth with a composite filling and hopefully the gum will come up too after a while. Thank you Patelka! read more

Great Customer Service!! The office is under new management has made changed since my last visit. There are some new faces but clinical staff went above and beyond to ensure all my concerns were addressed during my exam. I'm super anxious about the dentist. Everyone who worked on me was gentle, throuogh & explained what they were going to do before hand. The girls at the front desk went out of their way to make sure I knew what my insurance would cover- and possible out of pocket cost, and other info I needed to start the TX Dr recommended. I went there to get a filling. The owner did the dental work 2 times and it was still wrong so I had to go to another dentist. They also charged my insurance for a cleaning that they never did, and they charged for 16 x-rays but only 2 were done (they copied the whole file, including xrays and there were only 2). When I went there to confront them about them about this, they said that it was a "mistake". I would never go there or recommend them. read more

I purchased a $199 Groupon for ZOOM! whitening at Patelka Dental. Before I purchased my Groupon I called Patelka to confirm it was the full ZOOM! process. The women confirmed that yes, it is ZOOM! and it was the full 4-15 minute sessions. I purchased my Groupon and called back and made my apt. The day before my apt. I get a call from Patelka telling me they need to move my appointment until the follow week as they didn't have anyone in the office that day to perform the ZOOM!, I ask to have an apt the day before and she explains that they are booked solid with ZOOM! apts. About an hour later I get another call back saying they are able to fit me in, AWESOME! I take a half day off work so I can make the new appointment time. I get yet another call back saying they have to cancel my new appointment because they do not have enough supplies to accommodate me. I question how they do not have the supplies for me if they just booked my appointment? The lady quickly notes that they do not do ZOOM! that they do Lumebrite. ( NOT WHAT I PURCHASED or what I was told earlier ) I explain to her that my Groupon is for ZOOM! not Lumebrite. I ask for a refund. She refuses to bring me in for the ZOOM! that and refuses to refund me. I ask to speak with a manager or owner, (who is unable to come to the phone ) So I ask that she call me back asap as my appointment is for the following day and i took off work. The woman on the phone tells me I can expect a call tomorrow. When I receive my call from the manager (Natalie) She is RUDE, disrespectful, and I could not get a word in edge wise. Thank goodness Groupon refunded me promptly and politely. I have never had worse customer service. I would never trust these people with my teeth. Save your money and your time. IT IS A SCAM! The past few months they have hired new girls at the front and ever since, their staff and service girls are RUDE!! I called for an issue I had with braces, one girl answered, I told her, she put me on hold and another girl picked up and asked my issue, I explained I had already spoke with someone and told them the issue, she rudely replied "she passed me the phone now so what's your issue", whatever, I told her. She gave me the answer for the questions I asked and because I didn't like the answer, she hung up on me. Rude rude rude service.
