I don't know about everyone else, but we wanted more than a few plants, as we really love our back yard, and just needed our space ~ improved upon. Hands down these guys are great! They were polite, on time, and more importantly ~ highly knowledgeable when answering our questions. They were involved in all parts of the landscaping quoting and ~ yes~ the installation process. We really wanted our yard to reflect our style and our taste ~ we wanted it to reflect how we really live...They listened to our thoughts and presented us with a plan that was so unique. Our experience was disappointing. After two in person meetings and additional follow up emails, the design was still only about 50% complete. Charged $300 for something that cannot be used. Key corrections to the landscape topology were never incorporated, and the plans lacked accuracy. Instead of delivering a thorough design, they prefer to make changes on the fly during brief in-person visits, which is unrealistic to cover in 30-60minutes. Overall, the process felt unorganized and ineffective. Called to express my disappointment and they said I would get a call back. No call back yet received or partial refund on design fee. read more

I am so happy that I chose Patera for my landscaping needs! Jeff was knowledgeable, flexible, and accommodating, especially as we adjusted the plans a couple of times before starting my project. Martin and David gave great suggestions during planning, and were great additions to the team. Even during installation when I decided to add more mulch and add some edging at the last minute, Patera was accommodating and prompt to deliver. Keely and Abby in the office were responsive to my questions and suggestions. The entire Patera team was honest, hard-working, and worked together seamlessly to make my landscape project a success. They are not a good landscaping company and we relied on them to tell us what to plant where. We have bushes shoved in the corner of our house and even the size they have grown to already it's obvious there are to many plants there. We wanted a small ornamental tree in the front yard where the two sides if our house meet and they planted a Japanese maple tree which is going to get 20 ft high. We have hollyhock bushes planted in the middle of a flower bed with small plants all around them that looks stupid. We have so many hydrangeas in our yard it's ridiculous and we asked specifically to not have a lot of hydrangeas!. I asked specifically for columbine and daylilies of which we have none. They "replaced " some of the plants that had died per the contract with plants you could get for 5.00 from Walmart that have yet to bloom. My advice is find another company!!!!! read more

I hired Patera to fix some places in the backyard where my dogs had dug, resod the backyard where the grass hadn't grown in well and/or the dogs had dug up, and remove one tree in the front and several smaller trees in the back and cut back some overhang in the back. They never removed the tree in the front and only cut back the overhanging branches part way up in the back leaving those trees top heavy. The first good wind we had after snapped one of those tree trunks halfway up. I was just lucky it didn't hit my fence when it fell. They also didn't resod a large portion of the back that was included in the bid. They did refund me a VERY small amount for the work not completed. I asked for a breakout of the costs so I could better understand the refund and they refused. Disappointed with this company! read more

Patera Landscaping recently installed a patio, firepit and outdoor kitchen for us. The process and work couldn't have been more painless. Their bid and initial consultation was quick easy and ontime. They provided creative ideas and returned the bid and changes in a timely manner. The actual work was started and completed on time. The onsite crew was great. They listened to changes and suggestions. They caused little or no damage in the yard. And the best part, they left a beautiful patio, firepit and outdoor kitchen for us to enjoy. The crew was professional, very hard working, congenial, and paid close attention to detail. After speaking with 3 landscaping companies we went with Patera. The bid was high so we scaled back some things. After paying over $2k the job was done but POORLY. They do not return phone calls, Two bushes were pulled by MISTAKE and then it was hell getting them to replace their mistake. This was last year. So this year we used someone else only to be shown how horribly some of our new shrubs were put in the ground. New landscaper had to replant. read more

Dishonest don't be fooled by the great sales pitch. Won't come back as they promised. We had them add to our patio and they did a trouble job of matching what was already there and lied and said what we had was no longer made. I've found it all over town. They were supposed to come back this year & next to do spring clean up & replace any plants that have died. I have called several times and get no where. I feel we were ripped off. read more

Our retaining wall is falling apart after 2 years and has to be totally redone as they use the wrong filler. WILL NOT return calls or fix any issues. They are a joke!! Thanks!!! I cannot even begin to tell how great they have been from the first time I met with Jeff through the past 5 years. I have used them 2x each year and always have the same crew come out and they are so polite it's amazing! They show up and work so hard that you can see changes every time you look out the window. Some of my projects have been large and others small but they always cleanup at the end of the day. I just had to say thanks to them tonight after they worked in my yard until near 8 pm. I cannot say enough about there effort! They communicate throughout the project and the work is first class!

Called them for a retaining wall and yard clean up. They showed up late to our first meeting and promised to make it up to us. The finished wall looks great. After multiple attempts to get them to finish the clean up and removal of a bush, they never did. When trying to get them to do the work, it's hard to get a hold of them. But they are quick to ask for the money. We'll never use them again. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING!!! I set a meeting with Patera. They showed for the first meeting on time. All was well. I called to push meeting 2 back 10 minutes and they had to cancel that one due to drive time for their next meeting that day. OK . set meeting 3 for a Saturday at 1:30 pm. Waited all afternoon and they never showed. Called that Monday to find out what happened no apology no excuse. Set meeting 4 for the next Saturday at 11:00 am. No show no call. Left voice mail at 11:10 am that Saturday no response even though their Sat. hours are 8-12. Called Monday No apology no excuse. Danielle said she would have Jeff call. Still waiting. Not impressed! We set up a time to meet to have someone give us an estimate. The guy coming out said he was there, as we were standing on the property... no one Patera ever came. We called the office again and she told us that he would be there soon. Again, no one ever showed up. We called the office again and was told that the guy that was suppose to come out just decided to go home, it was Friday. So unprofessional! They wanted to know if I wanted to set up another appointment. Um, no. I will not give them anything but a recommendation to pass on them. read more

I had called to get an estimate on some (a lot) landscaping to be done..The man who set up appt. had his own schedule mixed up so sent Jeff out to go over things with me..When Jeff arrived, we went over everything I needed done and he said it would take a week before he had the estimate and plans finished..After a week, I called back to follow up on this..The guy (same guy answers as before) said he will contact Jeff to get back with me..I gave it another week and still no response..Again I call (unknown) guy and it's just a repeat as before..It has now become very apparent that this company is not going to contact me..I think this is very unprofessional of them..Is it that I do not live in a rich home and you choose to do only upscale where you think the money is?..My money is just as good as theirs..I have found a PROFESSIONAL company to do the work for me..I called and they were here in 1 day, estimate took 1 week, and work is to take place soon..They don't care where you live, they care about making clients happy..Shame on you Patera !!!..I would never recommend this company to anyone and explain why..WORD OF MOUTH can be good and BAD.. read more

These guys know their stuff!! We tried for ever to get an estimate, and after waiting for a month on 2 other local companies, we called Patera. They did a very professional job on our landscape. They tore out our old bushes that had grown all over our house, and placed in new plants and flowers. The guys cleaned up their mess and went on their way. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the market. My designer was a Patera and the foreman was Nick. Very good at their job! read more

I agree with the previous review. I have never seen an organization so complacent and terrible at customer service. The owners are great salesmen, and are friendly before they make the sale. Every single thing they touched in my yard was disastrous. Within 6 months, the stonework is coming apart and every tree was placed and staked incorrectly. There is actually alot more that is undone, but I will leave specifics out - the list actually goes on and on. I called them several times before they came out to "fix" anything. Each time they did come out, a couple of inexperienced high school students just made things worse. After the third attempt to rectify things, I asked for my money back. These morons had the audacity to tell me that they only send out the best crews and will not refund me. Only after I threatened to pursue inolvement of the BBB did they send out one of the owners. To my complete and utter dismay, even he was incompetent, or lazy at best. After dealing with these guys for about 1 year, I just hired a different company to fix everything that Patera touched. I have lost a lot of my hard-earned money, and my faith in humanity by hiring these guys. After the fact, I asked around my neighborhood, and lo and behold - everyone knew these guys suck. I wish I did my homework in advance. These guys are actually banned from certain neighborhoods, and I have no idea how they continue to operate. read more

This was our second time hiring Patera Landscaping. The first time, our job was put off in favor of other jobs, and after a couple of weeks, they did the one day job over 2 days. The work was good, but expensive. Since we had seen their work last time, we decided to try them at our new house. This time, we were put off again, and we remained flexible. We were told it WOULD happen on Friday 5/22 , they would be there in the morning and would finish the job in one full day. We did not hear from them, and they did not call or show up. We call the office many times. Finally we were told they were on their way at 1130am. By 130pm they still had not shown up, and finally showed after 2pm. This was the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. We asked if they were going to finish the job that day as promised. They would not honor that promise, and were planning on getting started and leave us with a muddy mess over the long weekend. We did not feel confident that they would not "put us off" again the next week, and they would not finish the job that day. Jeff, the owner said he does not do well under those "terms" and that we should find someone else to do the work. This company has wasted so much of our time, we will never hire them or recommend them to anyone. read more
