Once I arrived at Thrive I knew within the first couple weeks that this place was special. The staff were kind and helpful. I didn't feel like just another number. I felt like everyone genuinely wanted me to be included and most importantly wanted me to succeed. It's scary to put your life "on hold" and your sobriety first, but all of the goals I set for myself in that first month , I have reached in the past year! And on May 24th reached my one year sober! Which is mind blowing Thrive showed me how to live life sober and enjoy it. They showed me how to be a good daughter, a sister, and a friend. They showed me how to look within and work through the shame I was carrying with me and come out on the other side I can truly say Thrive changed my life for the better and if you're on the fence about sobriety give this place a chance. After 20+ years in active addiction I thought I was a lost cause but they helped me build myself back up and gave me the template to build my life backup . After having a family member reside at this facility, I would like to respectfully share some…read moreconcerns regarding our experience. While we appreciate the efforts of the staff and recognize the challenges involved in providing care and support, we encountered ongoing difficulties with communication throughout our family member's stay. Communication with the assigned case manager was often limited, and requests for updates regarding our loved one's progress and well-being were not always acknowledged or addressed in a timely manner. As family members, we relied on these updates to remain informed and reassured. The lack of consistent communication frequently left us uncertain about his status and concerned for his overall well-being. In addition, maintaining direct contact with our family member proved challenging at times. Multiple attempts were made to obtain information and establish communication, but responses were often delayed or unavailable. This created unnecessary stress and uncertainty for those of us who were actively involved in supporting his care and recovery. We also received feedback from our family member, as well as observations shared by other residents, indicating that some interactions with case management staff could have benefited from greater patience, attentiveness, and responsiveness. While we understand that staff members manage significant responsibilities, respectful and compassionate communication plays a critical role in fostering trust and supporting residents effectively. Equally important is the partnership between a facility and a resident's family. Families are often the primary source of emotional support, advocacy, and continuity of care for their loved ones. Maintaining open communication and working collaboratively with family members helps ensure the best possible outcomes for residents and strengthens the support system that contributes to their success. Family involvement should be viewed as an essential component of the care process rather than an afterthought. These comments are offered respectfully and constructively, with the hope that they may assist in enhancing communication practices, strengthening family engagement, and improving the overall experience for both residents and their loved ones.

On my own accord,…read moreI had followed the ravages of addiction and alcoholism into the darkest depths of hell before my teen years were even over. I was an angry, depressed, psychotic, and near-schizophrenic kid due to my pursuit of the bag and the bottle into oblivion. I was told all my life I was a prodigy, a genius, a wunderkind. All I saw was pain and misery and failure due to my disease and my actions. I was entirely lost. I had chosen to be homeless on the streets of L.A. for quite some time instead of accepting help. My selfish actions and resulting consequences are what led me to The Last House, and my final plea to God and family for help. When I entered The Last House, I was a sucked-up shell of a person, who was hearing voices and having hallucinations and homicidal and suicidal thoughts constantly. All of that was to change. The Last House did for me what I could not possibly do for myself. The staff and the residents welcomed me with open arms and accepted me for who I was and not for who I believed I was. That was the crucial part that shocked me initially. I was angry, selfish, egotistical, and dishonest. The Last House showed me how to grow up, how to be kind, how to have faith in my fellow man and in God. But most importantly, it showed me how to have faith in myself!!! | was fighting against it for awhile, because I was in so much fear of accepting real life and fighting against my demons. But I was to overcome that fear and learn infinitely more about God, AA, the 12 Steps, and camaraderie. I graduated the Last House in late 2014 after working The Steps with a sponsor who also was a Last House alumni, and I was so comfortable and happy in that place, I decided to stay on as a live-in manager for months after graduating, as I wanted to give back what had been so freely given to me, in a debt that could never be repaid. The Last House is a pivotal staple in my life, I confidently promise you all that I would not be alive today nor be the man I am if it weren't for every single person in that program. I am forever grateful for The Last House, and I would highly encourage anyone who struggles with the grasps of addiction and/or alcoholism to trust in them and give yourself to the program. It really DOES work if you work it, I am one of countless other examples of how it does! I will always stay connected to my brothers and family that I've met along this path of recovery, and it's all thanks to "The Last House on the block". If you left one little speck of food on the counter or a glass you would be crucified in the group chat and "leveled down" which meant you couldn't leave the house, so your life got smaller. That is so incredibly abusive to me. It was unrealistic. I seriously couldn't do anything right I was constantly crucified by the house managers. My family was helping me pay for the room and I wasn't even allowed to be in it. They also had male managers ("Dano" and "Bobo") who would come in and basically spend 2-3 straight hours criticizing the girls and blasting their personal business to the entire house. So yeah. Don't come to an abusive space like this if you're trying to heal.

I was forced to write words every day. If my bed wasn't made right I would have to write 300 words on a subject. It didn't stop there. In the same day if I left a cup out I was given another 300 words to write. I wrote 2000 plus words a day. And they were dishonest with my parents that paid there crazy bill. I was finely blessed when they kicked me out sober. I relapsed the same day and was addicted for another 3 years. After the damage was done I went to AA and got sober. The friends I had there are now mostly dead... Iv followed them on face book and it seems we all had the same experience! Do not let these people tell you what you or your child needs to be doing! Please listen to you addicted children. Use caution and care but please do not be a victim of axis house!

The AA meeting held at the house on Saturday morning is one of my favorites, hope to see you there!
