Receptionist Was Very Warm And Friendly..She Made It Feel Like A Safe Space And Very Emphatic" Even As I Was Leaving After Treatment..Awesome Staff" Very Sweet Caring Physician As Well 5Stars

Three days after following recommended treatment.

I went to Patient First on Tuesday, November 11, for an infection in my little finger. (See First attachment). There was only one other person in the waiting room when I checked in but I was still there for two and a half hours. After following their instructions for three days, my finger is much worse. See second attachment). I'll be seeing my PCP this afternoon to see what is recommended to resolve this. I just hope I can keep my finger.

This man obviously hates his job and doesn't care about patients.

On January 16th I fell ill, for the next week I first thought I just had the flu but after a week of getting worse, losing my voice, sense of taste, and coughing uncontrollably I went to Patient First thinking I had Covid. I saw Kimberly Ranieri who had me complete a Covid test and ordered X-rays. My Covid test came back negative but was told after she had reviewed my X-rays that I had pneumonia. I was prescribed medicine and told if I get worse to go immediately to the hospital. Since I had already been out for a week my work supervisor had advised me to complete Short Term Disability paperwork. Ranieri was understanding and told me to have paperwork dropped off and she would have it completed. She could only have it completed from the start date of first visit. I understood and advised her I would have a family member drop off forms. Nothing negative to say about Ranieri. Three days later I had my father drop off forms, in which he was then told they could not complete until I came in for a follow up and additional X-rays. I called in short of breath, coughing, and difficult speaking. Nurse advised yes, Short Term Disability forms could not be completed until I had a follow up and additional X-rays . I was told Ranieri would be back on 01/29/22. I came back today and was told Ranieri was not in the office. Okay not a problem, I thought. I would see another doc today who will confirm, complete another X-ray and complete my Short Term Disability forms. I was taken into the back where a nurse took my temp. and blood pressure. When the doctor came in, A Dr. Phi Lam who hardly greeted me, I told him thought I was a bit better than I was when I first came in, I'm still short of breath, coughing, and weak. I told him that two evenings before I was coughing so bad I almost passed out. I had to have my wife bring me the inhaler that was prescribed which I then had to use the remainder of before I was okay. This had happen late in the evening. Dr. Lam completely dismissed me. He said I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Ranieri and must have had the flu. He said he would not be able to complete the STD forms since this is the first time he saw me and since I was misdiagnosed STD won't support. As I sat there in front of him still in pain, short of breath and still having difficulty speaking, I was amazed by his lack of professionalism and empathy. He did not even take the time during that visit to give me any additional X-rays, or even put a stethoscope to my chest and listen. He handed me a visit summary from my last visit advised he would pass along my forms for Dr. Ranieri when she returns and she may or may not complete. Then walked out the room. I was amazed how unprofessional a Doctor could be to someone in pain sitting in front of him to just be dismissed. It's not even about the forms, I'm telling him I'm in pain right now and he ignores me and walks away. I will return on Monday and speak to Dr. Ranieri, and hopefully get the care I need. This is why I do not trust male doctors, they are always dismissive and have no empathy. If anyone else decides to visit, know this, the nurses are great, the female doctors are great, Dr. Lam is a dismissive unempathetic joke of a medical care provider. Avoid Lam at all cost.

SLOW and RUDE No real organization to care…read more DOES not listen to the patient for full information before prescribing or determining condition Even with a reservation, it took THREE HOURS just to be seen for a sinus infection and then 30 more minutes to get the script I was likely exposed to flu, covid and norovorius, pink eye etc.. just waiting to get some care

Terrible experience at M.D. Express Urgent Care (Newport News)…read more I went in fully aware of what was wrong with me and exactly what I needed to get better - something my primary care physician has successfully prescribed for me multiple times in the past. After a culture confirmed what I already knew, I simply asked for the medication that I know works for my body. Instead, I was met with condescension and arrogance from Helena Lewis, the practitioner on duty, who outright refused to prescribe it. She informed me the side effects were too risky, despite me explaining clearly that I've taken this medication before with no problems - and that I'm well aware of the risks. Her response? Still no. Let me be clear: the medication I asked for is NOT a narcotic, it has no recreational value, and to my knowledge, it can't be abused or used to make illegal substances. Yet I walked out of there with nothing. I was essentially told that I was going to take what Ms. Lewis wanted me to take because she decided she knew my body better than me or my own doctor. She didn't listen, didn't trust my experience, and didn't care that I work 13-hour shifts for the next three days and couldn't wait to see my pcp or take more time off to do so. I've had far better experiences with Patient First, where they actually listen to the patient. M.D. Express, on the other hand, clearly prioritizes their own rigid opinions over patient care and common sense. Thanks for nothing! Helena Lewis clearly has a God complex and no interest in listening! I will NEVER return here - and I suggest you don't either, unless you enjoy wasting your time, money, and energy on a provider who thinks she knows your body better than you do!
