Took a trip to Patis in Lyndhurst and thoroughly enjoyed the food The croissants were crisp and flakey. The coffee was fresh/hot and rich My only issue was with the service as it was almost 20 min to get my breakfast sandwich The staff seemed disorganized. Maybe they're new? I feel like it lacked a warm feel as far as ambiance goes. Tables were not cleaned off after use They were all full of crumbs The window displays are empty looking and have to be cleaned. It just doesn't give a good vibe where I would want to come for a meal. The one thing I did appreciate is a sink to wash your hands outside of the bathroom but there were no towels to dry your hands. Nice place with fresh Baked bread, pastries, madeleines, loaves of bread, and delicious tarts. I come here for work but s also buy treats to take home. I have bought several treats for my way home and I don't feel guilty for not sharing them with anyone. The are buttery, flaky, amazingly rich goodies. This review is only for their avocado toast which is to die for most of the times. I was ordered a birthday brunch from this place and the avocado toast didn't disappoint. Also we ordered tiramisu and cheesecake which were ok not the greatest but definitely edible. Along with that we ordered lasagna too which was just frozen and not cooked. Finally got the chance to stop by and try this awesome new bakery/cafe. Be aware they are changing their hours, I believe Monday-Wednesday they'll be closing at 5 but the rest of the week is their regular closing time of 8. I'm not sure about the weekends, I think they're still trying to figure out what hours work for them so I would probably give them a call and ask just to make sure your trip is worth while. Now, I actually worked at Mazur's when I was growing up which is the bakery that used to be here years ago. I can say that when I walked in to Patis I was completely blown away. If I didn't know the location and building was the same spot geographically, I would've thought this was a completely different place altogether. Gorgeous gray hues of color, modern and sleek seating to sit and enjoy your coffee and a layout of showcases you just can't beat. This is definitely an esthetically pleasing cafe. I stopped in mainly for dessert for two people. Looking at the cases of treats, I do have to say they have enough options but very very spread out. This is not your normal Lyndhurst Pastry Shop. It has a very "high end" and expensive feel to it. I opted on a chocolate croissant, a death by chocolate cookie and a peanut butter eclair. I also paired this with a small coffee. My total was around $10. I feel like the prices here are high for this town but who knows, hopefully they do well. The chocolate croissant was delicious! So so flaky and fresh, my favorite purchase. The death by chocolate cookie wasn't my favorite. I'm sure it's real chocolate and everything but it wasn't even sweetness that it lacked, it was flavor. I wouldn't recommend that one. The peanut butter eclair was gorgeous to look at and tasted great. My coffee was also perfect, I asked if they had a mocha option and the friendly woman behind the counter said no but that she could add in some chocolate syrup and it was great. I can definitely see myself coming here to get another chocolate croissant in the near future. I'd also love to try out the breads, the olive sourdough sounds delicious. Parking is also easy, usually there's a spot right in front of the store and if not there's street parking right around the corner. I definitely suggest checking it out but if you're used to the old school Italian bakery, come with an open mind and explore their delicious goodies and beautiful homemade chocolates and truffles. read more

Tried several of their "kosher" items from the bakery and maybe "kosher" is another way of saying stale and tasteless but if the kosher folks are used to this then advertise it as Kosher not artisan. Such a great bakery to support during covid19. They've set up an amazing online process for seamless deliveries and pick-up orders. I went to their website, chose my time-slot for pick-up, and received a confirmation number. When I went to pick-up my order today, I was in and out of the shop in less than a minute. For Sunday breakfast, I got the pecan sticky bun, cheesecake danish, multigrain bread, and chocolate hazelnut crufganyot. They even threw in a free baguette with our order which we turned into a veggie sandwich and turkey sandwich. So delicious! Mediocre bread offered. Came here instead of a corner store or super market assuming the bread would be well worth it. Especially when you're purchasing bread for a family get together. Ordered three different types of loaves to bring to a dinner. The bread was nothing special and hard to eat. I asked to make sure the bread was made the same day and although there was a lack of that fresh bakery scent filling the room that one looks forward to, I trusted it be worth the price. The macaron ice cream sandwich was one of the most amazing summer treats ever- their brown butter ice cream is just phenomenal (and comes in pints)! Little surprised by such low reviews on here! Ive been to Patis numerous times since opening weekend. It's not like the traditional bakeries available locally which are more Italian, as this is kosher French. Today I was delightfully surprised to see chocolates and macarons available! I've sampled numerous breads and pastries over the weeks and surely have my faves and dislikes - just like at any other bakery! While I agree that there is some confusion when paying and you may wait a few minutes to be helped, it's nothing extreme. It's just more time to eat samples lol Certainly love their breads and avocado toast! Loved their "donuts" with guava during the holiday, and today I enjoyed a sample of chocolate. Next time I will definitely be trying a macaron and hope it contends with those I actually had in France. This isn't a bakery with tons of cakes and cookies. It's more like pastries, breads, quiches, etc. There is also a coffee bar and an area to sit and enjoy your delectables! The food at Patis is always delicious. And it's wonderful to have an option for kosher food here in Lyndhurst. I stayed away from the bakery products and had a delicious fresh salad. Just stumbled upon this place walking by. So glad I walked in to investigate. I'm overwhelmed with joy at the treats they offer here. I just had the best Quiche I've ever had in my life. First I had the Mushroom, Truffle Pecorino one. Then i had to go back for more & devoured the Caramelized Onion, Swiss & Parmesan, Herb crust one. Drooling here. Everything they make is made here. They have a massive bakery in their basement. They have candies, breads, cookies, Bonbons and every kind of coffee you can imagine. I had a large freshly squeezed Orange Juice to wash it down. While I must say everything I've had from this bakery is delicious, I can't help but add the fact that every single employee I have encountered here is VERY rude and unenthusiastic in the handful of times I've visited. They make you feel like a total burden for asking a simple question, and answer with the most vague and unhelpful response possible. To get someone's attention to pick out and pay for a pastry is an almost impossible task, meanwhile 4 people are standing around with their hands in their pockets. For example, the other day I went in to buy some macaroons and waited a couple minutes as not to bother the girl who was cleaning, but she never noticed me or bothered to ask if I needed anything. So I asked the two other girls at the other end of the counter who were doing absolutely nothing, and they said "oh she can help you over there" pointing at the girl who was busy cleanIng. It took another few minutes for her to finally help me, meanwhile I was the only customer who needed to be helped! Why couldnt the two girls doing absolutely nothing help?! Ordered online for pick up. Received a text message when I arrived that said they would bring the order (call my name) when it was ready. I waited and waited. No one called my name. After 15-20 minutes, I asked someone to check on the order. It was just sitting there. Brought food home. Order was only partially correct. Several items left off the sandwich I ordered. Today I ordered a latte - I was handed the heaviest cup of pure hot milk , when I asked nicely if she can make it over with proper milk to espresso ratio - I was given a lesson on coffee AND A REPLY " NO" while she slammed the cup back on the counter. Visited the Teaneck location yesterday after picking up Thai food next door. The staff were friendly, and the pastries were delicious. I especially liked the campfire croissant (which had dark chocolate, graham cracker and toasted marshmallow. I was worried it might be too sweet, but it had the perfect balance of flavors. So after being pressured by everyone in my family to go here for the past month, I finally went. My first thought when walking j was that for their fairly large premises for a bakery, they had very little to display. My worries were quickly assuaged after sampling their fine sourdough breads. I ordered honeycomb koign-amann which was incredible; a simple chocolate croissant that was absolutely p.erfect; an apple turnover that was slightly too buttery but I wouldn't mind having it again; a tiny cheesecake that you'd love if you like heavy cheesecake (I don't, but that's just my personal preference); and finally my favorite: a matcha-raspberry Napoleon that may have had the best custard I've ever tasted in it (I'm a sucker for anything green tea). My latte was simple but delicious, I wouldn't recommend the hot chocolate though- over-foamed and bland. The service was a little slow, especially seeing the store was basically empty at that point, but the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The manager, Mr. Wendel, even acquiesced to my request for a tour of the kitchens! I also ordered the country white bread, a baguette, a baguelette, some macarons, truffles and bonbons to go, all of which I later discovered to be delicious. Pistachio macaron is highly recommended! We used the online site for delivery. Wow everything we ordered was outstanding. The bread was delicious. I wrote a note for my flavor macarons and they ordered those correctly I ordered some chocolates, and asked for no coffee or mocha. There was a handwritten note on the chocolates, sorry they are pre packaged at the beginning of the week. I thought that was a nice gesture. Amongst the Kosher foodie groups online, this bakery seemed to be the echelon and the ultimate when it came to kosher baked good. Sadly but not surprisingly enough, I found their products very much over-rated (as is the case with most kosher places that are hyped up). Online shows an 8am opening daily. Got there at 9:30. Walked in and was curtly asked to leave until 10am. 10am walked in and purchased a walnut chocolate chip cookie, a baguette and a focacia. I was the only customer in the store but it still took a good 15 minutes as the counter help was completely clue-less and did not understand what I was asking for multiple times. Not sure how much of that is her fault vs training and the like. The baguette was hard as a rock - overcooked. The fociacia was pretty good and the chocolate chip cookie? also hard as a rock. I was sure that I'd be hungry again in a few hours after eating a carb lunch like that, but I wasn't even hungry at all for supper. So weird. The pastries and food items are delicious but the bread is rarely fresh. So disappointing and frustrating. What is worse is the non-existent customer service. The Brooklyn store on Ave M has the most incompetent help. Even when the store is empty is takes forever for your order to be completed. I've been reading other reviews and this seems to be an ongoing issues in all your stores. This needs to be addressed by management. Your business should be thriving. It's a shame! read more

I am surprised they call this a "bakery." The cases were practically empty, and what was there looked burnt and like they'd been sitting in there for days. Nothing looked fresh. My daughter was craving macarons, googled it and found this place-the old Mazur's so I knew exactly where it was and it was local. She bought a box for $18 for us to share. Half of them were stale and the rest (except for hazelnut) tasted so bad that we threw them away. I bought some kind of croissant stuffed with a custard. It was stale, so that was a waste of my $5.
