I don't get the low reviews here. So, you have to wait a few minutes? it's a little more expensive than your usual jrz bakery? Look at the quality. Look at the detail of these exquisite sweet treats. We've been several times since Patis has opened. Breads, croissants, little cakes, danishes, and more have all been delicious. It's worth the money (and I love my Lyndhurst Bake Shop cookies to death). Yes, sometimes it gets crowded, so you have to wait a little. And the owner is quite friendly. We've talked to him, he's shared samples with us, and has seemed open to suggestions too. The girls behind the counter are sweet. Jeez, people, engage in a conversation in person instead of clinging to your perceptions and running to your phone to criticize anonymously. read more

I am surprised they call this a "bakery." The cases were practically empty, and what was there looked burnt and like they'd been sitting in there for days. Nothing looked fresh. My daughter was craving macarons, googled it and found this place-the old Mazur's so I knew exactly where it was and it was local. She bought a box for $18 for us to share. Half of them were stale and the rest (except for hazelnut) tasted so bad that we threw them away. I bought some kind of croissant stuffed with a custard. It was stale, so that was a waste of my $5. Nice selections of pastries , my wife is dairy intolerant so this is the perfect spot. Something bother me though... While waiting my turn I heard a manager/owner yelling at a poor guy with glasses . Don't understand the low ratings -- I come from Essex county and the trip is well worth it. Outstanding for me: chocolate pistachio croissant, raspberry tart, semolina seeded bread (best around) and chocolate truffles. And extremely inexpensive vs. the pricing I see in Montclair, probably about 1/3 to 1/2 less. Highly recommend!! read more

I watched this bakery being remodeled for over a year. Each time I passed by I hoped it was open. Finally the day came and it was open. I like the chocolate croissants they're quite tasty. My main complaint is they don't have much product. The product that they have are small little pies or whatever and they're all five bucks. I can fit one in my mouth and there goes five bucks. I was hoping for a little bit more variety. Maybe in the future they will have more options. The other odd thing is they open and close different times every day. Are used to stop in on my way to work to get a chocolate croissant and one day I walked in and they told me they were closed. They should have straight hours every day instead of adjusting it so people can shop when they want. I don't even have a problem that they're Quotes on Saturday. Good pastries, great specialty breads, very good coffee. Here's the issue, if you're on your way to work, forget it. You stand there waiting for one person to take care of you while two others talk to each other and pretend not to see you. Love the pastries, can't wait for the chatter to end to be taken care of. The comments that it's pricey is correct but they are fancy pastries/breads. That being said, don't think they are properly located. Btw, the oven is a bit hot, the food is on the dark side. Try it out though for yourself. Update: Been in few times since my last review and I have to give it kudos for how much better the staff is. The choices in the bread, pastries and desserts have expanded tremendously. Everything not only looks delicious, it tastes delicious. Visited for the first time. The service from the girl behind the counter was none. She was chatting to another girl behind the counter and ignoring me, as a customer, waiting for over 5 minutes. Baked goods are way too pricey. I will grant you to overcharge on the dairy goods, however, a simple croissant should not be $3.75. My family has consistently loved this bakery since we went there last year on Dec. 25th and waiting a long time on line. Their coffee is fantastic, their specialty items are the bomb, their breads are incredible (and I make sourdoughs, challahs and the like) and their pastries - well, forget it. Fabulous. We love going there each and every time, we are happily stuffed when we leave. Each one of us like different flavors and there is always a plethora of choice. You are in for a treat in this amazing café/ bakery! Authentic French pastries, both sweet and savory, and a variety of breads. The toughest part is choosing, but so far I have not been disappointed. There are lesser known French regional specialties ( Kuoign Amman?) in addition to the standbyes, perfectly executed, and often with an original twist. The pear almond tart is to die for! In the dairy-free section, an array of perfect Babkas competes for your attention. The attentive staff will help steer you through the choices. I found the service prompt, informed and friendly. Save yourself a trip to Paris if you are dreaming of the perfect croissant. It is right here in Lyndhurst and the bakery is kosher! It is perfectly flakey, not greasy and not too sweet. They also have a version with honey and sesame seeds that is a mixture of France and the Middle East. Their baguette has the perfect crust and a dense chewy inside. Their other pastries are beautifully prepared and while I haven't tasted them all, I am looking forward to coming back. I am hoping they will add a rye bread with seeds to their offerings and, for me, that would make it the perfect bakery! read more

Finally had the chance to check out this bakery. I went in around 7pm and was happy to see there were still plenty of items to choose from. After looking around for a bit, I decided on the macaroons - they have a nice variety of flavors! I ended up going with chocolate, rasberry, and orange blossom - I enjoyed them all (especially the chocolate). Checkout was smooth and the cashier was super friendly. Took another friend to my happy place Patis Bakery for lunch because I love sharing the joy of this amazing place. Had the Pastrami lox croissant (omg) and my friend thoroughly enjoyed the Avocado toast and quiche. We both thought our latte and cappuccino were great too. We brought home loads of goodies including heavenly cranberry pecan bread, my 2 favorites--Halvah/Rosewater croissants & Pecan Sticky Buns and new items (for me), Chocolate Peanut Butter Eclair and Strawberry Lemonade Eclair. My family will be very happy with tomorrow night's dessert selections. If you still have not made it to Patis, you are sadly missing out on some of the best pastries around! read more

Patis Bakery in Lyndhurst is my new home!!! I just made a morning jaunt over to the newest Kosher Bakery in the area - UNBELIEVABLE!!! Gourmet Kosher baked goods and sandwiches. Tried Patis for the first time today. Got the Pistachio chocolate croissant, regular croissant, blueberry danish( with fresh blueberry) and some type of fruit tart. All so amazing and fresh. Not overwhelmingly sweet, just perfect. Found my new French Bakery in the area. read more

Nice place and the baked goods are decent. For the things I bought I was not overly impressed specially considering the price point perhaps if I come back and buy more/different things of the menu I'll give them a higher rating. The main reasons for rating this place at 3 stars was; their chocolate truffles were a let down (I'm assuming they use ghee) next what they call cheese cake is not at all what most people expect/have mind, it wasn't bad I just wouldn't categorize it as a cheese cake and lastly the sandwich station although quite creative I would expect a sandwich to be put together at the time of ordering not half baked in the morning then rewarmed once ordered. If you are going to offer a sandwich station then do it right or don't do it at all I think people would be happy enough to sit down in this place for a coffee and doughnut even if there was no sandwich station. read more

Just walked in the bakery, remind you the door is OPEN and there's people inside and someone yells, "WE ARE CLOSED". I take another step to walk out " WE ARE CLOSED." As soon as we walk out, someone comes and lock the doors behind us. That's is soo rude, next time someone walks in after hours it will be nice to say to say "sorry we are closed" or just make sure you lock your door. read more

Everything I had in this bakery is simply incredible. The pistachio chocolate croissant is out of this world, and the blueberry cheese danish was delicious. The savory pizza and focaccia were delicious as well, although the sweet pastries were more uniquely excellent, in my opinion. read more

I came in 3 times snd left with nothing 3 times. There are limited items displayed so theres nkt much of a variety to choose from. The service is SLOW. I took my mom once to see if we could try something and we stood in the same spot for 10 minutes, gave up and left. I miss mazurs bakery. read more

I was unaware of the new hours and entered around 715. Door was open and the lady behind the counter was gracious and offered to go in the back and see what was ready for purchase. Picked up a few croissants, bagel and cheese stick and she also sold me some cream cheese ! My co workers were impressed and loved everything!
